Dorset County Canine Society

Dorset County Canine Society Open Show 24th July 2022


Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at your show and thanks to the exhibitors for your entries. It was a very windy day and the weather affected some dogs more than others.


Whippets


Puppy (4, 1 abs)

1. Manners and Mcdonald’s Florancy Dark and Stormy. 6 month old black and white dog. Masculine head with alert expression. Long strong neck, good front and hind angulation. Curvy top and underline, and good feet. Showed so well for one so young. Moved well in all directions. BPIB.

2. Miluk’s Tumblers Araminta. 6 months old fawn bitch. Very feminine and excellent for size and bone. Moderate front and hind angulation. Presents a lovely curvy outline. Moved well but just not quite as together as the winner. 


Junior (6, 2 abs)

1. Leathart’s Ringmore Iona. 15 month old fawn bitch of the correct size. Excellent for breed type a presents a very curvy outline with the desired S shape. She is all whippet and there’s nothing exaggerated about her. Smooth shoulders and correct flat bone, excellent topline and underline. Moved well.

2. Wayman’s Collooney Charlie Brown at Scarletfair. 13 month old fawn dog. Masculine dog with a kind expression. He is of a lovely shape with a curvy top and underline, which is great to see in a male. Well laid back shoulders, slight spring of pasterns and good feet. Overall well balanced and moderate hind angulation. He was sadly quite unsettled on the move in this class.


Special Yearling (3, 1 abs)

1. Wayman’s Collooney Charlie Brown at Scarletfair. As above. He was much more settled in this class.

2. Jones’ Mac Bells Purple Patch over Chelynnah (Imp Swe). 20 month old brindle bitch. Feminine head and alert expression. Long arched neck, and with smooth shoulders. Good bone and feet. Presents a curvy outline and has a lovely curvy top and underline. Well muscled hind quarters. Sound mover, just preferred the profile movement of my winner. 


Post Graduate (7, 0 abs)

1. Wayman’s Collooney Charlie Brown at Scarletfair. As above. 

2. Ellsmore’s Freehamlet Dreme Maker. 2 year old brindle bitch. Pretty bitch with a beautiful alert expression and rose shaped ears. Good for size and substance. Well angulated front and smooth shoulders. Correct bone, good spring of pastern and good feet. Lovely curvy topline and a matching underline. Strong hind quarters which she used well on the move. Moves very well in all directions.


Limit (8, 2 abs)

1. Miluk’s Tumblers Westwood Prince Liam. 4 year old fawn dog. Masculine dog of a good size and with just the right amount of bone. Well balanced for front and rear angulation and well muscled. Good fill in front. Deep chest with plenty of heart room. Good topline with a slight rise over the loin, and a good underline with a well defined tuck up. Moves very well in all directions. RBOB.

2. Davis’ Jemalsheva My Giddy Aunt. 3 year old fawn bitch. Very feminine bitch with the prettiest of heads. Good for size and bone. Correct spring of pastern and well knuckled feet. Flowing lines with shapely top and underline. Sound mover.


Open (11, 2 abs)

1. Shepherd’s Kidaruka It’s Showtime at Oxana JW. 2 year old fawn dog. Excellent for bone, size and substance. Masculine head and neat rose shaped ears. Well balanced with moderately angulated front and and rear. Good fill in front and with a deep chest. Correct curvy top and underline. Well muscled hind quarters which he used well on the move. Sound mover and excellent profile movement. He really showed himself off, despite the weather! BOB.

2. Woodward’s Bryntreia Whispered Love at Palmik JW. 3 year old fawn and white bitch. Excellent for size and with a very feminine head and alert expression. Long elegant neck, leading into smooth well laid back shoulders and the correct return of upper arm. Good bone and feet, and correct slight spring of pastern. Presents a curvy outline with a curvy top and underline. Moved very well in all directions, really excels in profile.
