East of England Agricultural Society Open Show

6th July 2022

Retriever (Flat Coated)

Thank you to the exhibitors for accepting me as replacement judge and to my steward Jim who was also a last minute replacement.

Puppy

1st Hototo Pretty Ballerina. And what a pretty girl she is too! She is vey well put together and has the raciness that is expected of this breed. Her head is beautifully balanced with well placed eyes and a soft expression. She has a good forehand, clean neck that fits smoothly into well placed shoulders, a level topline and well developed quarters. She has a powerful and smooth gait and displays a happy and confident disposition. She showed her socks off to win BPIB, Puppy Group 1 and Best Puppy in Show. Extra special congratulations as I understand this was the last point for her Junior Warrant.

2nd Gemswin River of Dreams. This pretty girl was not disgraced by standing second here. She was shown in excellent condition, is balanced fore and aft and is moderate all through. The winner was more together on the move.

Junior

1st Riverglide Secret Reprieve. He is so impressive on the stack with his clean outline, gleaming coat and animated tail action. He is well off for bone and substance yet maintains his raciness and elegance. He has a typically long and nicely moulded head, bright expression and small ears. His neck is of good length and flows into well laid shoulders. He has excellent length and return of upper arm, a level back, good ribbing and a firm short loin. His stifles are moderately bent and he uses his strong, straight hocks to drive round the ring. BOB and then delighted me by taking Group 4.

2nd Gunoak Solar Flare by Gemswin. Feminine and pretty she has depth, a good length of neck and a lashing tail.

Post Grad

1st Hameldowntor Pedro Ximenez. A substantial boy with plenty of depth, correct ribbing and wide quarters; son of my open winner. His head is handsome and well balanced and I loved his good sized nose with its open nostrils. Moves out well.

2nd Vynesbrook Deja Bleu. Very elegant and stylish and presented in good coat and condition. She has a very kind eye but I would prefer slightly more stop. She has very well set and small ears, a clean neck, good forehand and a great tail action.

3rd Esined Double Delight

Open

1st Hameldowntor Music of the Night (Imp). Moulded head, clean in back skull and enough neck. Plenty of heart and lung room, good croup and neat feet. She won this class on her free flowing movement and showed no excessive lift. She was unsettled in the challenge and was more interested in what her son was doing.

2nd Esined Pandora. Rangier than the winner but with good head proportions and a kind expression. Feet could be tighter.

3rd Hoedun Alexandra of Denmark
