WEST OF ENGLAND BORDER COLLIE CLUB

29th May 2022

I would like to thank the Club Officers and Committee and all the exhibitors who accepted my decisions as a “replacement judge” for Leona Lewis and I wish her a speedy recovery. I would also like to thank my two Stewards, Audrey and Yvonne for their company

It was an interesting entry of differing types but my final winners pleased me and I certainly enjoyed your dogs.

MINOR PUPPY

1. Domotori – LUCKY FOR YOU RITMO DE LA NOCHE (Imp Hun) very raw youngster but of good size. Pleasing head. Good shoulders but needs to tighten in front and rear

PUPPY

1. Morgan – GERMAL MOET ICE IMPERIAL AT DARKQUEST - slightly more mature lad in good coat and body. At this stage needs to fill out in head. Moved quite well but with a much higher tail carriage than I prefer.

JUNIOR

1. Gregory – TIDESPRING TONIGHT I AM HERE AT TONKORY, youngster who had much to admire, as I liked his head and expression. Good ear set, nicely placed and angulated shoulders. Good neck leading into shoulders. Good top line and length of back. Moved out easily with good tail set. Pleased to award Reserve Best Dog

2. Taylor – DARIAN END GAME, another who will need time to mature and body up. I would prefer a better shoulder angulation and I felt he was too long in top line which could have been better, especially on the move

NOVICE: GERMAL MOET ICE IMPERIAL AT DARKQUEST

LIMIT

1. Hartfield – MOSHANTA MAY CONTAIN NUTS JW – one I judged as a very young baby. He is maturing well and has ample bone, good feet. Nice size and outline, Well balanced head, good stop. Good shoulders, legs and feet. Ample heart room, in super condition. Fluent movement in both directions and held his tail correctly. Best Dog

2. Lee & Ratcliffe – ARRODARE TRUE LEGEND. 2 year old of good size, not quite the outline of winner, as I felt he was a tad too long in body. Pleasing balanced head and moved out well

OPEN – Absent

VETERAN

1. Shahmatova – NASHDOM UNPREDICTABLE, lovely mature boy who has some ring presence. Pleasing head and eye. Good neck, body, legs and feet. I just felt he could have moved with a little more drive and effort in the challenge but was BVD and Best Veteran In Breed.

SPECIAL AOC

1. Domotori – LUCKY FOR YOU WESLEY, not a big boy but one who takes the eye for his rich colourings. Moved easily. Liked his head and outline.

SPECIAL WORKING

1. Lee & Ratcliffe – SHEMELLA DARK STAR – placed 3rd in Limit but won this easily, now mature has many virtues. Quite pleasing in head, good shoulders slightly longer in back than I prefer. Would prefer more positive movement especially in the rear.

PUPPY BITCH

1. Hawker – MOSHANTA MAGIC PENNY FOR TAYTINJA, a young bitch who appealed for her size, shape and outline. Pleasing head and eye well filled foreface for her age. Good shoulders and nice length of back. Moved very well, I noticed she is a daughter of my BD and pleased to award her BPIB.

     JUNIOR

1. MOSHANTA MAGIC PENNY FOR TAYTINJA

2. Gregory - TOP OF THE CLASS AT TONKORY, nice bitch of good size just needs more time to mature and a little more ring training as she really enjoyed her day out. Time is one her side

     YEARLING

1. Lee & Ratcliffe - ARRODARE REBEL WITH A CAUSE, appealed for her positive movement. Has a good head and shoulders, nice top line and good bone for her age

POST GRADUATE – nice class with some variations in type

1. Lee & Ratcliffe – ARRODARE SHOWDOWN JW, litter sister to previous class winner, very similar in type but I prefer her balance in head. Good foreface. Ample neck with good shoulders. Moved very well, won this class easily but I would prefer a slightly harsher coat.

2. Shahmatova – NASHDOM STRAWBERRY FIELDS, slightly longer cast lady in outline to winner, pleasing head, good stop and expression. Another good mover today.

3. Fisher – TIDESPRING THE ONLY ONE AT ARNISTON

     LIMIT

1. Lewis – SHEMELLA MOONLIGHT SKYE, lovely size and outline, liked her overall balance. Good head and eye. Held top line easily on the move with correct tail carriage. Ample bone and nice feet – Reserve BB

2. Buckley – TAMBUZI TRUE COLOURS TO AMKAMEL, mature bitch but lacking quality of winner. as I felt she was longer on the leg than I was looking for. Pleasing head, but failed, today in front movement.

OPEN

1. Akester – THWAITLAKE EVERYTHING I AM – lovely bitch of good size.

Pleasing head, nice foreface Good neck leading into a positive top line. Good eye placement. Well laid shoulders .Ample bone, neat feet Moved well with correct tail carriage, pleased to award her BB, BOB and BIS

Shahmatova – TONKORY I’LL BE THERE FOR YOU AT NASHDOM, very
