German Shorthaired Pointers

Puppy (4, 2 abs)

1st Quintana Diamond Dust at Friarsbelle 8 month dog masculine boy who won on his settled movement, pleasing size with a balanced outline and good bone. I liked his kind eye and gentle expression, good head planes, a little broad in ear. Clean through the neck and shoulder with a tidy underline. Showed reach and drive BP

2nd Zakova Aurora 2 Feminine bitch who needs to mature but again a good type, very pretty head which still has to finish but shows a lovely profile and plenty of promise, good body proportions with a smooth outline just needs to settle on the move.

Junior (2)

1st Winterwell Thatlldo for Desjiem JW Quality bitch with a lovely head & expression of the correct development, excelled in neck & shoulder, correct in forequarters and hind end in a muscular condition, lovely bone & feet, strong topline & a good underline with correct coat texture, covers a lot of ground showing strength and drive. Just needed that final finish for top honours but one to watch. RBOB

2nd Winterwell Eeh By Gum with Garvin Another lovely type, masculine dog well up to size but balanced in bone and proportions, skull and muzzle of correct proportions and eyes of good colour giving a gentle expression. Strong topline with a well made rear. Not quite as smooth on the move as first but showed good drive.

Open (5, 4abs)

1st Goosepoint Waddington at Abbanash (AI) JW Mature male, handsome in head with a gentle expression. Clean through the forehand with a strong topline and tidy underline, well boned legs and balanced angulation. His profile movement was ground covering with drive and showed true on the away and back. BOB

Pointers

I felt that a number of dogs struggled with the size of the ring today and really didn’t get into a proper stride but I can only judge on what I see so my decisions had to be based on the dogs who presented the truest movement on the day.

Puppy (4, 1abs)

1st Glenariff Mojito 6 month dog, very smart in outline with lovely lines. Balanced head with kind eye, clean cheeks with a hint of chiselling to come. Good body proportions for age with bone and enough substance. Powerful looking shoulder with a rear to match. Showed clean balanced movement. BP

2nd Hawkfield Quiz 7 month bitch, smaller framed than 1st. Dark eyed pretty headed feminine girl with decent angulation fore and aft, slightly longer cast but kept her topline on the move

3rd Ludgarth Everest

Junior (6. 2abs)

1st Collholme Angelique 12 month bitch who really came alive on the move with the best of footfalls and a slashing tail action. Classic head with correct eye and ear, lots of breed type throughout. Clean through the neck and shoulder, correct bone, legs and feet. Firm in topline and a well muscled rear giving drive and reach and showing true on the out and back. Despite being pushed hard she never faltered and deserved her BOB.

2nd Tenshilling It’s My Party for Salmonmist. Classy looking boy with an impressive outline, Lovely head shape with good proportions and the right amount of chiselling. Strong neck, plenty of depth to forechest with a firm topline and correct bone. Plenty of power from his broad thighs would love to see him outside in a large ring

3rd Jilony Brown Velvet

Grad (8, 4abs)

1st Olivesong Kiss Chase Good head shape a touch stronger than I prefer on a bitch but all in balance with a dark eye. Slightly arched neck flowed into a good lay of shoulder. I liked her depth of chest and rib. Kept her topline well on the move showing a good profile action.

2nd Collholme Balthasar Upstanding dog with a typey outline, much more settled in this class but really made his handler work. When he did settle to the job in hand he moved with reach but slightly untidy in rear action

3rd Caithpoint Kora at Meadowpoint

PGrad (4, 2 abs, 1 wd)

1st Tenshilling The Wanderer. A beautiful head on this bitch so feminine with chiselling and the right width of skull. Clean outline with a good front assembly, standing on good legs and feet. Rear quarters nicely made with good width and plenty of muscle giving drive but really needed more room to stretch out

Limit (6, 4 abs)

1st Teisgol Love is in the Air. Strong dog showing power and strength all through. Masculine in head with plenty of stop, you could never mistake him for anything than a male. Firm neck and well built front, deep rib under a firm topline. Good bone and feet with a driving action on the move.

2nd Sonham Chasing Rainbows. Pushed my winner hard but not quite as comfortable on the move. Tidy all through with an attractive feminine head showing balanced ratios. Good angulation fore and aft, slightly longer in back, nice amount of bone.

Open (4,1abs)

1st Fydal Caprio at Salmonmist JW. Striking dog with lots of breed type. Pleasing head showing correct stop and chiselling, clean reach of neck flowing into a firm topline . Deep in chest with plenty of rib, oval bone and correct feet. Wide thigh in firm condition gave a lot of power on the move which looked true in profile but he too struggled with getting a balanced stride and it showed when coming towards me. Could not be denied RBOB on his overall breed type and construction

2nd Fisherbloom Re’Encountered JW Another quality dog with a striking head and appealing expression. Clean through the neck and shoulder with correct bone and feet. Lovely masculine outline a touch longer through the loin but well built in rear with plenty of drive another one who struggled in the limited space.

3rd Dacan Sharp Spear
