Dalmatian I would like to thank the exhibitors for their outstanding entry on what was my first judging appointment. The quality of dogs I had to go over was just fantastic, and we were joint top for the highest number of entries in the utility breed. We had a decent size ring, and plenty of mats so the dogs were able to show off their movement. My top winners won on their movement, as it’s such a key factor for our breed, they don’t move on their spots after all. After travelling such a distance to the show, I must say I have full admiration to the northern exhibitors for their travelling down to the southern shows. You don’t realise just how much of a journey it is until you’ve done it, so massive kudos to everyone, even if they weren’t at this show. PUPPY (1) 1st Herd’s Dotlun Dancing Queen For Ricoh Very bouncy and happy 8 month old puppy. She is a lovely dark shade of liver with even spotting, including her tail which didn’t stop wagging. Good movement, with correct tracking, when she settled down. Correct skull to muzzle proportion and has nice bone for one so young. Rear muscle is starting to develop well. She very much enjoyed herself in the ring, which is what I like to see in a puppy, but did make her handler work hard. When she stood without mucking about she was the picture of elegance. I will watch her progress with interest. Delighted to see her PG2 under group judge Janet Kay. JUNIOR (1) 1st Vocking’s Bellehoud Tipple At Portunes NAF Beautiful and feminine liver bitch, lovely temperament and one of the easiest to over on the day. Her tail never stopped wagging in both of her classes. Nice make and shape, very balanced with a strong neck into a firm top line which she held on the move. Good ear set, with nicely broken ears, framing a pretty face with correct amber eye. Lovely rear angulation, nice bend of stifle and she moved with reach and drive whilst keeping her elegant appearance. Attentive to handler, had there been a RBOB award it would have been hers. POST GRADUATE (4, 1ab) 1st Vocking’s Bellehoud Tipple At Portunes NAF Repeat. She didn’t put a foot wrong in her movement which won her this class 2nd Noble’s Ruebedu Ace Of Spades Miss Personality of the day! Black spotted bitch with the deepest pigment, dark eye and such a cheeky expression. Strong neck, leading to good spring of rib and firm topline. So well muscled and nice bone, lovely bend of stifle and tight cat feet. Pushed hard for 1st, very nice movement on a loose lead when she wasn’t playing her handler up. She’s only just out of junior, so she has plenty of time on her side. 3rd Lamb’s Dalpetro Dotty JW This black spotted bitch wasn’t keen on the floor surface and kept skidding so sadly I couldn’t place her higher. Gorgeous deep pigment and looks quite the picture when stood. OPEN (4, 1ab) 1st Noble’s Ruebedu Sheik Yerbouti Stunning black spotted bitch who powered around the ring with such reach and drive she couldn’t be denied 1st place and later took BOB. Very feminine, evenly spotted, correct skull and muzzle proportions, dark eyes, well broken ears, nice deep chest and tight cat feet. Good front and rear angulation, good bend of stifle, well muscled, firm topline she kept on the move and correct tail set. She was moved on a lovely loose lead and looked like she could just go for hours. Dam to 2nd in Junior and she’s passed many of her attributes onto her daughter, but has the maturity to know when to knuckle down and get on with the job. 2nd Marley & Libbey’s Bellili’s D’Amoure De Loin ShCM ShCEX 7 year old handsome evenly spotted black boy who still gives the youngsters a run for their money. Nice dark pigment with dark eye, masculine skull and muzzle, nice strong neck, good front and chest and just so well muscled and balanced throughout. Nice rear angulation with good bend of stifle which gives him a lovely range of movement. Such a happy boy, his tail didn’t stop wagging and he leaves you with no doubt that he’s a male. Very attentive to handler. Unlucky to meet 1st who was just totally on form today. 3rd Johnson’s Dvojica Evergreen Something spooked this boy today and he wasn’t at all happy with the proceedings. I was gutted for his owner, on the first stand it looked like he could take top honours, but sadly he didn’t want to co-operate.
