Lagotto Romagnolo Club of Great Britain

My sincere thanks to the Officers and Committee for extending me this generous invitation (originally for 2020 but cancelled due to Covid). I had a wonderful afternoon and was impressed with the overall quality of the dogs.

PD (2)

1st Worrall’s Moonreed Drake. Just 6 months old. Good square outline. Head proportions correct showing decent strength in skull. Short neck. Correct forehand angulation. Slightly bum high at the moment but this will correct has he matures. Excellent coat texture. Moved on sound, steady stride. BPD

JD (2)

1st Benell’s Il Granaio Dei Malatesta Rublo. Well balanced with square outline. I would like him half a size smaller. Well proportioned head with high set ears. Deep chest with elbows set close. Correct topline and tailset. Strong hindquarters with large hocks. Moved very well on a good active stride.

2nd Burman’s Nelbekio Ideal Igino. I preferred his size to that of the winner but he gave away a lot in maturity today. Head shape good with large nose. Short neck. Well ribbed with short loin. Strongly made hindquarters. Not quite the reach and drive of winner on the move.

ND (2)

1st Nelbekio Ideal Igino - 1st JD

2nd Wakefield’s Leyther Summer Tsar. Longer cast than would be my preference. Very difficult to assess him as he was clearly not happy in the ring and maybe would benefit from more socialisation. Head of good shape. Narrow chest. Movement accurate out and back.

PGD (1)

1st Hamlyn & Hamlyn-Sharp’s Bransbubble High Neb. Correct size but slightly off square. Pleasing head shape with large, well set ears. Short neck. Correct topline. Excellent hindquarters. Good coat texture. Moved steadily. Another that would benefit from having more confidence.

LD (2, 1)

1st Ferguson’s Truffalusa November Moon From Mizani. Upstanding dog of 2 years old showing correct outline for the breed. Head of correct proportions with well set ears and good eye colour. Good strength in muzzle. Neck short and slightly arched leading to well laid shoulder. Good depth of chest with elbows close to the brisket. Topline correct. Scores in hindquarters with large well set hocks. Excellent coat and condition. Movement shows great length of stride when viewed in profile - just a fraction close going away which was the deciding factor in the challenge. RBD

OD (1)

1st Whittick’s Arcticbreeze Turbulence At Allsong. Two year old dog who is excellent for size and outline. Head and muzzle of correct proportions showing good width at the zygomatic arch. Well set ears. Short, slightly arched neck. Well laid shoulder and corresponding length of upper arm. Chest is narrow when viewed from the front with good depth viewed side on. Correct topline and tailset. Strong, well made hindquarters with well bent stifles and straight rear pasterns. In excellent coat and condition. Moved well with drive on a long stride. BD & RBIS

VB (2, 1)

1st Nelson’s Nelbekio Almost An Angel. Eight years old showing excellent square breed outline. Head of good shape with strong skull and large eyes. Short, strong neck leading to well laid shoulder. Chest narrow when viewed from the front. Carrying a little overweight. Compact body. Strong, well made hindquarters with well turned stifles. Very sound on the move. A real showgirl. BVIS

PB (2)

1st Mort’s Arcticbreeze One And Only. Eleven months old. Very good square outline. Head of excellent proportions with high set ears. Short neck leading to correct lay of shoulder. Chest of good depth. Topline correct. Short back. Well made hindquarters with large hocks. Excellent coat and condition. Moved with confidence.

2nd Whittick’s Allsong Nuova Luna. Not as forward as the winner and a little bum high but this will correct as she grows on. Head of correct proportions from skull to muzzle. Short neck. Chest of correct depth for age. Needs to strengthen in hindquarters. Good coat texture. Moved steadily.

JB (2)

1st Mort’s Arcticbreeze Truth Or Dare. My find of the day! A real little star in the making. At just eleven months old she has all the confidence in the world! Square in outline and beautifully balanced. Excellent head shape with good breadth and length of skull. High set ears and eyes large. Short neck. Well laid shoulder. Chest narrow when viewed from the front. Chest of good depth with elbows close to the brisket. Compact body with slight tuck up. Well made hindquarters with correctly bent stifles. Excellent coat texture. Moved on a good stride when viewed in profile. I liked her very much indeed - not the maturity for top spot but a well deserved RBB, BPB and BPIS.

2nd Langley’s Nelbekio High Hopes. Well balanced with correct outline. Pleasing head. Short neck. Not quite the compactness in body as the winner. Well made hindquarters with good turn of stifle. Moved soundly.

NB (3)

1st Roberts’ Havana King Of The Truffles to Byphar. Thirteen months old. Square in outline however I would not want her any taller. Head well proportioned. Short neck. Good depth of chest with elbows close to the brisket. Correct topline - although handler must take care not to overstretch her on the stack. Well made hindquarters with good length of lower thigh. Excellent coat and condition. Moved freely on a good stride.

2nd Heller’s Arcticbreeze Hopscotch To Floreydown. Well made all through - not quite the finish of the winner at the moment but could change places on another day. Good head shape with ears set high. Short neck. Nicely developed chest. Compact body with well made hindquarters. Moved on a good stride. Excellent coat texture.

3rd Snowdon’s Leyther Summer Rona

PGB (1)

1st Nelson’s Solipse Gelato Noce Di Cocco At Nelbekio. Well balanced all through showing square outline. Head of good proportions with skull of correct breadth and strength in muzzle. Short, slightly arched neck. Correct lay of shoulder. Chest of good depth. Carrying a little overweight. Short back. Well set on tail. Strongly made hindquarters with well turned stifles. Strong, free movement.

LB (3)

1st Worrall’s Gaesten Tatler’s Tezza. Of correct size and square outline. Head well proportioned with large eyes and well set ears. Short neck. Chest narrow when viewed from the front. She could hold her topline slightly better. Well made hindquarters with correctly set hocks. Excellent coat and condition. Moved best in class.

2nd Lillicrap’s Mizani Sebio Iola. Good overall balance. Head well proportioned with high set ears. Little wider in chest than the winner. Compact in body. Well made hindquarters with good length of lower thigh. Sound mover - not as tidy coming towards.

3rd Bransby’s Mikette Million Dreams

OB (4)

1st Mort’s Arcticbreeze Outbraker. Cracking bitch from any angle. She stood out today. Excellent breed outline - square and robust. Head is correctly proportioned being slightly longer in skull than muzzle with good width across the zygomatic arch, Ears of correct size and set just above the eye. Strong, slightly arched neck leading to well placed shoulder and equal length of upper arm. Narrow in chest when viewed from the front and showing good depth when viewed in profile with elbows close to the body. Compact body showing moderate tuck up. Well made hindquarters with good length of lower thigh and strong hocks. In excellent coat and condition and beautifully presented. On the move she is accurate both fore and aft and covers the ground effortlessly. BB and BIS.

2nd Whittick’s Moonreed Warbler At Allsong. Slightly taller than the winner and longer cast. Well shaped head with large eyes. Strong neck. Well placed shoulders with good depth of chest. Strong in hindquarters with straight rear pasterns. Good coat texture. Moved with drive on a good stride.

3rd Bransby’s Nelbekio Be It Bambalina.
