 In 1986 my very 1st show where I showed my first Weimaraner puppy was Merseyside Gundogs 1st Championship show so this society holds a special place in my heart and it was an honour to judge BIS at their premiership open show. Many thanks to the committee for inviting me to do so.

My BIS line up had a quality set of exhibits with over 30 dogs to choose from. Needless to say I had to shortlist twice to narrow it down to the last of the Best of Breeds. BPIS also consisted of over 20 puppies and many showed great promise.

 Best in Show was Trow’s Fayemm Treacle Toffee with Winterwell (AI)

A beautiful solid liver GSP bitch who I gave BIS at the GSPC’s Championship show earlier this year in July. Now that she has matured, my thoughts on her have not changed. She is not the largest of bitches but is perfectly formed.

Res BIS was Littlemore’s Italian Spinone Sh Ch Inostricani Bell Ragozzo Via Krismoor JW.

I’ve loved this boy since he was a puppy . Orange and white with the correct Head planes and top-line Moved out well to take this place

BIS 3 was the Shinkfield’s Cocker Spaniel Quettedene Queen of Stars JW

 Exuberant happy cocker who was put down to perfection.

BIS 4 was the Brittany Graham and Yarrows SH CH Bonapartist Pickpocket

 Best Puppy in Show went to the Pointer Gordons Hawkfield Golly Gosh,

Black and white bitch built on flowing lines who moved out with drive and purpose

RBPIS was Isherwood’s Weimaraner Gunalt Schweppes at Caleydene.

I’m sure he will follow his illustrious father.

Just 7 months old but showed like a veteran. Well handled.

Not yet 2 yrs. old but developing well. Moves with the characteristic roll on the move. Wide skull with frowning brows and a soft expression. Long slightly rounded neck with sloping shoulders. Well-developed chest and cigar shaped body. Round well-padded feet. Sure, this bitch will have a bright future ahead of her.

worthy show champion who had the edge over the bitch with his maturity. Strong sturdy boy with moderate curved skull and pronounced stop. Typical Sussex expression , thick lobular ears set just above eye level and lying close to his head, well boned and muscular forelegs. Well-developed back and loin deep back ribs and well-padded toes. True rolling movement and well feathered legs. BOB

9-month brown boy. Flat skull with a slight stop, open nostrils and oval shaped eyes. V shaped ears set just above eye level and short muscular neck Good shoulder placement and chest yet to develop. Moderate angled hind quarters and well let down hocks. Brisk movement and coat of woolly texture, beat 2 nice puppies with his maturity.

2 Hodkinson’s Zorazzo X factor (imp HRVP)

8 month liver and white boy who has a lovely expression . back had correct proportions with a slightly longer body Well let down hocks and tight round feet with strong pads. Lovely curly coat of a woolly texture

1Hodkinson’s Zorrazo Villain of circumstance (imp HRV)

 Brown roan dog who is clipped out but shows his lovely outline . Head of parallel plains and wide nostrils medium sized oval eyes, V shaped ears with a clean muscular neck . well angulated shoulder blades , straight forelegs level backline. Robust and well-muscled.

2 Capille’s San Lorenzo Wavelet at Landever

Not quite the maturity of 1 but still is a typy dog, still got a lot to come, moved out well.

1 Hodgkinson and Rutherford’s Zorrazo cool as a Cucumber.

Striking Brown and white dog who stood out in the line-up. Robust boy of correct construction and length/heigh ratio. Well-muscled with strong and short muscular neck jaws, god lay of shoulder and large well-muscled thighs . Correct curly coat with woolly texture. BOB

7 Month black and white, so typical of this kennel, very much like his father who I have judged previously, Short back ,pleasing head with moderate stop, Slightly leggy at the moment with a moderate turn of stifle and round tight feet

1 Hammond’s Riva De Gengazal

Won this class on maturity over the puppy. Black and white bitch with a pleasing outline, back and loin short which is well muscled and slightly sloping, broad, muscular thighs and vertical rear pasterns. Moved on a brisk short stride

2 Jones’ Rochus Sweet Pea

1 Trois and Hanriot’s Sprite De La Riviere Quareau

Black and white with the correct angulation, parallel head planes, shorter muzzled in proportion to bitch skull, triangular high set ears ., deep chest, strong muscular forelegs with slightly sloping pasterns , correct tail set and short straight coat , moved briskly.

2 Hammond’s Nellcote De La Riviere Quareau

Not quite the maturity of 1 with a classic expression and dark eyes as a black and white should have. Moderate bend of stifle with broad thighs and correct tail set.

Two fabulous dogs in this class making it a hard decision , I have judged this boy before and he has matured well. Very typical of his breeding with handsome facial expression , correct 3-2 head planes and tapered muzzle, oval shaped brown eyes, high set ears. Clean neck well set into well laid back shoulders, muscular forelegs .Short back with slightly sloping top line and croup., moderate bend of stifle with muscular thighs using them when moving on brisk short strides. Pulled out all the stops to take BOB and a deserved G4

2 Cooke’s SH CH Highclare Only Avec Tailliside (AI) JW

Orange and white mature boy, who is worthy of his title, Slightly longer than 1. but still in proportion Has a lot of the same attributes as 1

2 Bell and Maddock’s Sh Ch Owlspoint Master of Trouble SH CM SH CEx

7 yr. orange and white Bracco. Long angular skull with flat cheeks and pronounced Occiput. Soft expression and a moderate short neck with unexaggerated dewlap. Deep chest with well sprung ribs, Long thighs and good bend of stifle , slightly oval feet could have done with a larger ring to truly show his ground covering stride.

8 Month old Golden Retriever Balanced head with a broad skull, deep muzzle and well defined stop. Dark eyes , moderate sized ears and clean neck. Chest still developing, short coupled loins, we’ll let down hocks , cat like round toe , level tail set ,cream coloured flat coat with feathering starting to come. Sure he will have a bright future.

2 Howarth’s Ferndel Starry Eyes (WSS)

7 month well bred bitch, slightly domed skull with well-developed stop, very feminine expression, correct vine shaped ears and clean throated with nice sloping shoulders. Straight forelegs with slightly arched loin and well coupled . Cat like feet with round toes and thick pads. Low set tail. Feathering needs to develop.

Flat and silky coat

2 Harrison’s Kenoula Luci Ano ( American Cocker Spaniel. )

9 month old buff dog, well rounded skull with broad muzzle, round eyes , long lobular ears set level with his eyes. Straight forelegs staying broad throughout with strong padded feet. Slightly sloping top line and short coupled body. Well angulated stifle, tail set on line with his back, moved with an effortless long stride

White and orange bitch, loved her outline and built on flowing lines and graceful curves,. Medium breadth of skull with well- defined stop, slightly concaved foreface, with ears set high that has slight pointed. Long muscular neck, good oval boned forelegs, and lengthy strong pasterns, Well sprung ribs and a gradual sloping top line with short coupled loin. Well-muscled hind quarters and well let down hocks , oval well cushioned arched toes, Medium length of tapering tail which she lashed from side to side on the move. Covering plenty of ground.

15 Month bitch of medium colour with a well-balanced skull and feminine expression. Dark brown eyes and clean muscular neck and good lay of shoulder. Straight well boned forelegs and tight elbows. Well bent stifles, moved straight and true.

5 yr. old dog, handsome boy with a racy outline well balanced head with oval skull and well-defined Occiput. Moderately deep muzzle, Kind intelligent expression, Moderate sized ears set low .

Clean neck and well laid shoulders, Deep chest and well sprung ribs,. Coat silky and flat with good feathering on legs and tail, well bent stifles and moved out well.

2 Carr’s Balvenie Blue Lagoon (English Setter)

Blue Belton boy with an oval skull and well defined stop, strong muscular jaws and neck is well set into well laid shoulders. Level top line and good tail set. Well padded tight feet. Good feathering on legs and tail with a silky coat, did not move quite as well as 1.

2 English’s Sonnetend Wake up and Dream at Wireduck ( Field Spaniel)

 Black Bitch who is very feminine, well balanced with a noble expression with good chiselling under eyes. Well defined occiput, and lovely dark eyes. Well feathered ears and a clean neck. Shoulders were well laid back and has a moderate spring of rib Firm top line and low set tail. Liked her very much.

Worthy champion with clean skull, flat cheeks and well-developed nostrils. Almond shaped eyes with triangular shaped ears. Slightly arched neck with no sign of throatiness. Well sprung ribs , deep chest and short back . well bent stifles, good double coat and well feathered legs and tail with a slight white tip at the end of it.

2 Greenwood’s Fire Shadow Bastet Pol JN CH (NSDTR)

 Not quite the presence of 1. Nice wedge shaped skull with high set ears Moderate length of neck good bone on forelegs with slightly sloping pasterns . Does not have as good top line as I. Well-muscled hindquarters strong rear driving action on the move
