Basenjis-

I would like to thank the committee of the SEHC for the invitation to judges basenjis. The venue was lovely with ample ring size, allowing the breed to show off their side gait well.

Overall the quality of the entry was very good. A couple exhibits were carrying a little too much weight which detracted from their overall elegance.

Puppy (1)

1st-Damson’s Cheka

Lovely young bitch with a pleasing head, dark almond shape eyes and ample wrinkle. Good size, presenting a balanced outline. Moved well once settled. Shown to advantage by her competent young handler. BP

Junior (0)

Post Graduate (5,2)

1st- Stratton’s Aheme Cinnamon Swirl for Justartee

Very nice young r/w bitch. Classic basenji head and expression. Dark almond shaped eyes with plenty of wrinkle. Small hooded ears, set high on top of head. Balanced outline with fine bone. Adequate upper arm and moderately angulated behind. Would prefer a slightly tighter curl to the tail.

Giving her handler a hard time today. However, her overall qualities meant she headed this class. Considered for higher awards.

2nd- Holloway’s Aksaifleet Basi Busu

Another basenji with a classic head and expression. Small ears set well on top of head. Slightly lower on leg than 1. Lost her elegance today as carrying a little more weight than I would like.

3rd- Holloway’s Aksaifleet Russki Rose

Open (4,1)

1st- William’s Mawali Going For Gold

Excellent young r/w dog. Rich red fine coat. Presented a very balanced outline when stacked. Good head with ample wrinkle. Dark almond shaped eyes. Shoulders well laid back. Short level topline. Muscular hindquarters. Tail high set with a tight double curl. On the move this young dog came alive and showed an outstanding side gait. Well deserved BOB.

2nd- Richardson & Wood’s Mombatongaempress Eugeine of Cooperland JW (IMP IT)

One I have done well as a youngster and she has gone on to achieve good things.

Lovely tri bitch of good size. Paints an elegant picture on the stack. Beautiful head and expression with dark eye. Neck well crested into well laid back shoulders. Moderately angulated and put down in hard condition. Slightly exuberant on the move today, clearly enjoying her day out.

Today had to give way to the dog who was on top form. RBOB

3rd- Holloway’s Aksaifleet I’m Cheetah
