SOUTH YORKSHIRE HOUND SOCIETY

30TH JULY 2022

Judge Anthony Allen

My thanks for the committee for the invitation and especially to my two super stewards who kept me in order and everything running smoothly. I was honoured to have some super dogs entered under me and I was splitting hairs in a number of the classes.

Basset Fauve De Bretagne

Puppy (1)

1st Rangali Gretel at Shimmeree. BPIB.

A super youngster, just seven months and lots to like about her. She is well balanced and of good size and proportions. Her head is feminine, with a good shape and a good eye to give that typical expression. Good through the neck into a decent lay back of shoulder. Good through the chest, quarters developing well, stifles well bent. She moved out very well with a good action. A promising youngster. Delighted to award her Best Puppy and to hear later she was awarded BPIS4.

Junior (1)

1st Hibeck Geppetto

Another really smart youngster, just needs a little more confidence to complete the picture. Head is masculine, balanced with good proportions, super dark eye of good shape to enhance his expression. Short neck in to well set shoulders. Stands on well boned legs and feet. Good forechest and well ribbed back. Well set quarters, with stifles well bent. Good harsh coat on him. On the move he had good foot fall but carried his tail down which spoilt his outline today. A smart youngster who just needs to get his head together. Handled to best advantage.

Open (5, 1 abs)

What a super class, some topflight exhibits in this class today, I was really spoilt for choice.

1st Ch Rangali Wispa JW. BOB.

I thought this bitch was super, lovely balance and shape to her. She has a typical outline, lovely head piece of good proportions, good dome to her skull. Short neck in to well set shoulders, stands on good legs. Depth to chest, well ribbed up and held her level topline throughout. Well angulated quarters on her, stifles well bent, and hocks well let down, Coat is harsh and dense. Moved out well, striding out. Was the most accurate fore and aft in the class, which clinched this place over two other top-class ladies. Delighted to award her Best of Breed.

2nd Malrich Frankincense. RBOB.

This lady ran the winner really close but is still young and didn’t quite have the finish of first place today. She is a quality bitch with a lot to like about her, she is of good size and overall proportions. Lovely head and expression, set correctly on to a strong, short neck. Balanced angles front and rear. Well made in front, standing on good straight legs. Good forechest and is well ribbed up with a decent spring. Good quarters. Excellent harsh coat. Moved out very well and very close to the top spot.

3rd Ch Rangali Yum Yum

BASSET GRIFFON VENDEEN (PETIT)

Puppy (3, 1 abs)

1st Soletrader Fun Times for Rangali. BPIB. RBOB.

A super bitch just coming up 12 months and developing into a very smart lady. She has super balance and a cracking outline on her. Her head is well proportioned, good shape and a lovely dark eye that enhances her feminine expression, good ear set and length. Super neck in to well set shoulder and return of forearm, enough depth of chest and ribbing for her age. Level topline and good quarters on her, stifles well bent. Tail set on well with good carriage. Moved out well with plenty of verve. Good fore and aft. RBOB, Best Puppy and later BPIS3.

2nd Erylan Stormin Norman

Very much a baby pup, who was certainly enjoying his day out, a real character. Good shape on him, head of balanced proportions, with a lovely dark eye. Long neck into well set shoulders and a decent return of upper arm. Stands on good legs. Good through the body, quarters developing nicely. Just finding his feet on the move today. Nice type of puppy.

Junior (1)

1st Soletrader Special Effect

This is a young chap of 12 month with bags of potential. He has a super head on him, masculine with good balance, a super eye, and good furnishings. Ears of good length. Long in neck, super front assembly, shoulders well set and a good return of forearm. Stands on good legs and feet. He has good depth of chest, is well ribbed up and short in loin. Strong hindquarters with a good bend of stifle. Super harsh coat. Very sound on the move. Was in the frame for top honours but in the challenge, he played up, which cost him.

Post Grad (2)

1st Fox’s Nightmarre Lara Fabian at Maudaxi (Imp Rus)

A really nice type of bitch, 2 years old and a lot to like about her. Her head is typical with pleasing eye enhanced by good furnishings. Good length of ears. Long neck into well laid shoulders, needs to drop into her front but will do that as she matures. Stands on good straight legs. Well ribbed up and level topline. Quarters well developed, coat harsh. She moved out really well with accuracy in her footfall to take this class.

2nd Erylan Deesse Des Fleurs

Another young bitch, just rising two. I liked her head piece, good proportions, with ears well set of good length. Good length of neck into well set shoulders, enough depth of chest, would have liked her a shade tighter in elbow. Ribs rounded and firm in loin, quarters have good angulation. Had drive on the move, preferred the front and rear action of the winner today.

Open (7, 1 abs)

1st Erylan Hera la Reine

This lady stood out in this class, she has a super outline on the stack and just excels on the move both in profile and fore and aft. Beautiful feminine head and expression. Good long neck into a super front assembly, shoulders well laid back and a good return of forearm. Well bodied, good depth of chest, topline level. Super quarters with stifles well bent and correct tail. Coat harsh, moved around the ring as if she owned it, I thought she was cracking. Best of Breed.

2nd Vencharno Mojito

Smart male who scored in movement in this class, he has a good alert expression. His head is masculine, moderate dome to skull and a good eye. Decent length of neck into well-set shoulders. Good well boned legs. Enough depth of chest, good through the ribs, topline level. Good hindquarters, stifles well bent. Would have like his coat a little harsher. Moved well with good foot fall to take this place.

3rd Vencharno I Almost Had You

PHAROAH HOUNDS

I was the replacement judge for the Pharoah hounds and my thanks to the exhibitors for accepting my decision so sportingly.

Post Grad (2, 1 abs)

1st Bazinga I Want to Break Free (Imp Nor). RBOB.

Upstanding boy, two-years-old. Good head piece with slight stop, pleasing eyes and well set on ears that give a typical expression. Good though the neck, long and muscular into a good front assembly. Good depth of chest, ribs well sprung and level topline. Good length of body into well made quarters. Moved out well in profile, just a shade untidy as he came towards me, just needs to settle in the ring to complete the picture. Reserve Best of Breed.

Open (2,1 abs)

1st Bazinga Gazing at Haley’s Comet (Imp Nor). BOB

A lovely lady, elegant in outline. Her head is appealing with a good shape, lean and enhanced by a lovely eye. Ears set on correctly, long lean neck into well laid-back shoulders, elbows well tucked in, good depth of chest. Ribs well sprung, level topline and proportionate length of body. Moved out well with an easy gait. Delighted to award her Best of Breed.
