Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge varieties and Best in Show at this well run and well supported show. I was a founder member of Mid Herts Gundog and considered it a great honour to be invited back to judge.

1st Crawte’s Leascliffe Luis (Pointer)

This dog was shown in really good condition and has very sound movement, Lovely head so typical of the breed, straight front, good layback of shoulder and strong in quarters. Unlucky to meet the wirehair in the challenge for Best Veteran


2nd Caldwell and Mcdowell’ Snowdonia Only the Brave for Cerysan (Welsh Springer)


Close decision between these two dogs. Balanced head with a lovely expression, straight front, strong quarters, shown in beautiful coat and covered the ground well on the move


3rd Streven’s Sh Ch Erikachen Anything Goes at Tollisty JW (Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever)


Veteran Bitch ( 18 4 abs. )


1st Jenkins Ch Kimmax Coming Home at Gerstenfield ShCM (German Wirehaired Pointer) Best Veteran and Reserve Best in Show. 


Stood out in this very strong class, Balanced head good length of neck set into well laid shoulders Straight front and well up on her pasterns. Well bent stifles with straight hocks. Harsh coat. Moved soundly and with drive covered the ground well. Such a

well balanced quality dog

Close up to one in this very strong class, Liked her head and expression, good length of neck with well laid back shoulder placement, correct length of loin combined with a good turn of stifle giving a lovely outline when stood,


3rd Thomas and Upton’s Sh Ch Bowdonia Seraphine JW Sh CM (Welsh Springer Spaniel)

1st Smith’s Isfryn Peeping Tom (Welsh springer spaniel)


 A really sound moving dog, full of quality. Lovely head . Liked his good front construction and balance, good turn of stifle and shown in hard condition. On the move looked as though he could go all day. 



2nd William’s Berrymeade Coeur Blimey at Busheyhall SGWC ( Golden Retriever)


A well balanced dog with good bone and feet, pleasing head and expression. Strong quarters with a good turn of stifle On the move was throwing one hind leg slightly but had really good drive and moved well in front


3rd Norman and Roberston’s Yennadon Kyllachy (Gordon Setter)

Loved the outline on this super puppy, such good conformation all through and so moved well as one would expect. Shown in lovely coat and condition. Still a baby at present but loved his quality 


2nd Suett’s Silberliss Saucy Mare (Weimaraner)


Very promising puppy Liked her balanced head straight front, excellent quarters and stifles, giving her ground covering movement,

Such a lovely quality youngster, Lovely head leading to a good neck and shoulders, straight front, strong quarters and moved with drive

Well balanced golden , lovely head and expression Good length of neck and lay back of shoulder, level topline, strong quarters sound mover, Needs a little more time to drop in body

This dog is full of quality and breed type . Lovely balance and so sound on the move. Lovely head so typical of the breed combined with good angulation. Beautifully presented and handled


2nd Kidd’s Laurellakes Dream come True with Freestone (Cocker Spaniel)


Another quality dog shown in beautiful coat and condition, Sweet head with a Lovely expression and moved really well

This dog has the most beautiful outline , full of quality and won the class on his correct movement.He has a balanced head and very strong quarters and a good turn of stifle which contributed to his super movement


2nd Newman’s Creamwood Silver Hawthorn (Labrador)


Masculine dog who has a lovely head and expression, deep short coupled body with the correct barrel ribs, good top line and moved accurately and with drive

Pleasing head and expression Well constructed dog in full coat and fully mature. Masculine in every way without being coarse. Moved soundly and with drive

Another quality dog from this kennel. Very striking outline, Lovely head and so balanced throughout, sound mover

Another well matched pair both very sound and moving perfectly as pair. Both quality dogs

Phipps Baker and Bakers Never Say Never oasis of Peace to Maddouse (Flat coat)


This is a beautifully balanced dog, with a super outline. She showed so well and moved truly. Lovely head and expression, good length of neck and deep chest . Straight front , 

Short coupled, strong hindquarters giving her that flowing hind movement. She was presented in beautiful condition. Delighted to give her Best in Show

This dog won best veteran earlier in the day. She stood out for her lovely outline and soundness. Full of quality

Macbain and BrewersAm /Can/ UKC Ch Fecimus Written in the Stars 


The most lovely quality Field spaniel. So sound on the move with a very long accurate stride. Liked her head and shape. Long neck with well laid back shoulders, deep in the chest, level top line which was retained on the move , strong hindquarters and not overdone in any way. 


4th Best in show


Moss Molbram Venosa at Carianjo (Golden Retriever)



Well balanced , quality golden with a lovely outline. Pleasing head and expression, good length of neck, good layback of shoulder, level top line, well bent stifles and strong quarters. She moved very accurately covering the ground. She was handled to perfection by her young handler. 


Best Puppy in Show

Poole’s Bonapartist Temptress at Laurremar (Brittany)


 A very sound dog who caught my eye as she entered the ring. Really liked her head and expression. Her shape is so typical of the breed with a slightly sloping top line. She moved with a short stride and her movement was so accurate. Her overall quality game her this award

 Metcalf’s Baileydale Hello Sailor (Labrador)


Beautifully balanced young Labrador, who is right for his age. He has a lovely head good length of neck with well laid shoulders strong quarters and driving hind movement. A real baby he will need time to really firm up but so promising and could not be denied his place here

Macbain and Brewer’s Fecimus Son of a Gun (Field Spaniel)


Another very sound field spaniel and one that also impressed with his long stride on the move. Lovely head and expression. Good length of neck into well laid back shoulders, Level Topline. So well balanced when he stood and so full of quality

Davies Mablehop Melrose Miss of Peacevale (Cocker spaniel)


Pretty feminine cocker. Loved her head and expression, , good length of neck set into well placed shoulders. Good spring of rib in such a young puppy, good bend of stifle which contributed to her sound movement
