NEWPORT & DISTRICT AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY OPEN SHOW 9.7.22.

I thoroughly enjoyed my day at this beautiful venue where we enjoyed a day of sunshine but thankfully my ring was blessed with ample shade. Thanks to David Shoemark and his team for their hospitality.

BEST IN SHOW was the Smoothcoat Chihuahua ANADEIA TOKALA WITH JASCHIN, just 14 months old but the consummate showman who just owned the ring. He has a pleasing head with large, well-placed ears, expressive eyes and his overall balance is perfect for the breed. In wonderful body condition with an exceptional thick, furry tail, his outline is classical and he is such a sound and steady mover, eating up the ground as he struts his stuff. I understand he has 2 CCs and am sure his title won’t be far away as he would be a very worthy Champion.

RESERVE BEST IN SHOW was the Xoloitzcuintli SANGRE CALIENTE AMIDALA PADME, not yet two years old but in the peak of condition with ideal bodyweight and skin of the highest quality. Very typical in head and expression, elegantly arched neck, firm topline and moderately angulated throughout. She moved with the typical grace and spring of the breed and showed steadily throughout.

BEST PUPPY IN SHOW was the 8 months brown Toy Poodle NORWELSTON NUT KRACKER, such a feminine head and yet unusually well bodied and ribbed for a Toy of this age. She is compact and very much “all of a piece”, has a promising coat, moved so soundly and showed with confidence.

RESERVE BEST PUPPY IN SHOW was the 10 months Landseer Newfoundland BULAWAYO FAUNDLAND AT MILEOAK who was a challenge for his handler at times but she soon got him together. Very well balanced head, great substance and yet nothing cloddy about him, classically proportioned outline and so beautifully marked. When he settled he had moments of brilliance on the move and should have a great future.

BEST VETERAN IN SHOW was the 11 year old Tibetan Spaniel MENNIMOONZ TICKERLY TICK, in such amazing condition for her age and showing like a youngster. Excellent head type, perfectly balanced outline and still she moves true.

RESERVE BEST VETERAN IN SHOW was the 9 year old Siberian Husky MYSTICWOLF HOWL AT THE MOON, workmanlike in appearance with ideal proportions and good length of leg. Well angulated at both ends with a typical head and expression, he moved out well and was in optimum condition.
