HANDLING CLASSES: I would like to make a note that it has become apparent to me of late, that handling is not as competitive as it used to be. Overall my feedback for handlers was about tightening everything up, straightening lines and tightening on the corners. A few handlers did not listen to instruction and carried out incorrect pattern work and there were a few untidy leads. However, that being said, I was really pleased that all handlers were gentle with their dogs and showed excellent sportsmanship. All were presented well and so were the dogs. The winners of the classes were the stand out competitors, all of who had the edge in some way or another, which I explain more in each critique.
YKC Handling 6 to 11 years (8,2)
1st Layla Duncan – a fab little handler, never broke the golden rules and was the only one to complete the pattern correctly. Showing a natural talent for this, for one so young, I am really excited about this handler and I will watch her progress with interest – well done!
2nd – Grace Burnell – a good handler with bags of talent. Sadly broke the golden rule today which is why she is in second place. Take on the advice I gave and you will go on to be a winner.
3rd – Elena Stuart
YKC Handling 12 to 17 years (12, 0)
1st – Rhian Feasby – a talented young lady, presented her dog excellently and her shadow work won her the class. Overall pattern work was good and the lead changes were the smoothest. Just tightening everything up will make you a really polished handler and one to watch.
2nd – Chloe Cumberland – another talented handler, just not as smooth on shadow work and lead changes but it was close. Again just improving on what is already apparent will bring it all together
3rd – Ashley Sutton
YKC handling 18 to 24 years (6,0)
1st Elizabeth O’Brien – such a talented handler, patient and quiet at all times. She was beautifully turned out and so patient and kind with her dog. She really shows her dog and makes sure that the dog is the focus. Pattern work was nice and tight, good corners and lead changes. She is such a natural talent, she is really under stated but full of quality which ensures that she will be an exciting handler to watch in the future!
2nd – Rachel Cumberland – sound handler, everything here for a promising future. Concentrate on just tightening everything up and you’ll be a winner. Well done today in tough competition.
3rd – Megan Anderson
Adult Handling 18 to 40 years (4, 1)
1st Rachel Cumberland – was awarded this class because she took on board my advice and made adjustments to her performance accordingly. Well done (BAH)
2nd Megan Anderson – promising handler, just needs to not be flustered and keep the lead tidy. Good pattern work, but look where you are going and not at your dog for a sharper line,
3rd Charlene Neo
Adult Handling 40 years and over
1st Lesley Read – good handler, nice tidy overall picture and the dog was the focus. Sound pattern work and good corners. Shadowing was good and won her the class
2nd – Calolyn L Hall – another good handler, correct pattern work and kind when showing teeth. Just tighten up on pattern work and corners to improve on a sound foundation.
3rd – Julia Ewart
