Setter and Pointer Club Open Show, November 2022 My sincere thanks to the committee for offering me the opportunity to judge such a beautiful and versatile breed. having had the delight to experience this breed in action on the moor, it signifies the importance of correct angulation, depth of chest and the ability to move with drive… My thanks to all the exhibitors for their entry and their juggling between rings, on what was an extremely chilly day!

Puppy

1st Oddie, Miss, Sharnphilly Sugarplum. What a beautiful youngster, O/w bitch, who I have watched ring side. This kennel keeps producing quality. Lovely flowing lines and delicately proportioned; yet powerful angles. Lovely lay of shoulder and spring of rib, moved with drive. A delightful picture, One I will watch with interest. Pleased to Award Best Puppy in Breed and delighted to hear she went on to win top honours later on.

2nd O’Neil, Mrs C, Tenshilling to Sir with Love. Stylish O/W youngster, flowing lines of symmetry and elegance, well-proportioned head and pigmentation contributes to her femininity. Nice lay of shoulder, leading in to a good upper arm. A quality bitch with elegance and style; synonymous with the breed.

1st Oddie, Mrs S and Mr M, Chesterhope One Way Ticket (AI) (Imp Nzl). What a stunning example of a dog. Oozes breed type and quality- the complete package. The handsomest of heads, I fell in love! Beautiful eye, and defined chest, spring of rib and what a mover! Delighted to award Best of Breed.

2nd Stilgoe, Mr P R and Mrs D E. Glenariff Mojito Over to Teisgol. This b/w dog has lots to like, he is well balanced and proportioned well. Lovely head and nice angles. Good lay of shoulder. Moved with purpose.

1st Swannell, Mr A E & Mrs M S. Riowood Rhapsody This bitch caught my eye with her femininity. Nothing other done, beautiful, clean lines, pretty head and nicely angulated. Moved true and free.

2nd Cooper & Pearson, Mrs & Miss, Keepersfield Giselle. A B/w, portraying clean lines. Well proportioned throughout and overall, a nice quality bitch with lots to like; clean neck leading in to an adequate lay of shoulder, good depth of chest and nicely angulated.

Limit – An exceptionally difficult class, in my opinion the hardest of the day. Packed full of quality exhibits, testing my eye.

1st Wilkinson, Mrs B. Stocksfell Showdown won the class on her elegance, caught my eye upon entering the ring. Flowing lines and curvaceous. Beautiful head and well-defined stop. Oozing femininity, but not over doing it. Delighted to award her reserve best of breed.

2nd Norbury, Adams & Upton, Mrs V, Mr K & Miss H. Heartbury Belacqua A L/w bitch, well proportioned throughout with strong hindquarters. A good head and deep chest. With nice angles. Moved well.
