Breed: Spaniel (American Cocker)

SPANIEL (AMERICAN COCKER)

Many thanks to those exhibitors who supported my entry today, it was a pleasure to have my hands on your dogs, and to go over some nice dogs. Bitches were stronger than dogs overall, but my winning and reserve dog winners were quality exhibits. I could not deny the Brown and Tan junior bitch her success today, and a worthy winner she was. I was glad to see her win her first UK CC in the GB Championship Show as well. I am slightly troubled by toplines and also lack of forechest in some exhibits. This should be a fully functional working gundog after all, and the depth of forechest provides the overall front assembly which accommodates the organs to be a working dog.

1st Place Arrowbien Gin King (Miss K A & Mrs M Jones). A tri dog, masculine in head and well proportioned but not coarse. Lovely length of neck into well laid shoulders. This boy is up to height, but shows that he is filling nicely into that frame. He moves true away and back, and has great reach and drive and carries a rock hard topline on the move. He needs a little more body to compete with the big boys in the future. But certainly one with a very bright future, once it all falls into place. RBD and BPIB.

2nd Place Alibama Now or Never (Miss H & Mr D K Bedding & Jennings). A young buff dog who has a beautifully made and chiselled head. This boy is beautifully presented, and has a beautiful coat. He is up on his leg, he is slightly shorter in loin than 1, but just not the rib of 1st. He moves well, with good drive, just needs a little more front extension. I do however appreciate why this boy has done so well for so far, today he was unfortunate to meet 1.

1st Place Arrowbien Frankie Goes to Combleywood (Mr N & Mrs K Palmer). A beautifully proportioned head, good neck laid into well placed shoulders. He has a firm topline which carries well on the move, he has good rib and depth of forechest. He is good in loin. Moves with reach and drive, beautiful coat presented well today. It was my pleasure to award him BD.

2nd Place Arrowbien Dare to Party (Mrs J Nolan). A lovely black and tan male, who is well made in body and quarters fore and aft. He moves soundly, albeit his tailset could be a little more level off the back. His head is a little broad in head plains, but he has a lot of attributes to desire.

3rd Place Almondsbury Red Letter Day (Mrs L Honey)

1st Place Afterglow Bang Tidy (Mrs B Edwards). Black Dog, pleasing head and length of neck, he moves well and is presented well in coat. His topline has a habit of levelling out at times on the move.

1st Place Leader Line Indi avec Chararkinha (Imp Blr) (Mrs Cl Rivett). A solid dog, he doesn’t use his reach and drive to his best effect, and on the move demonstrates a short neck. A little more grooming on the head would’ve been an advantage.

1st Place Nasailleen Bye Felicia (Mrs L & Miss L Nelson & Bryant). This girl gives you the eye of attitude as you go over her, and it is an attitude of I am better than you human. Whilst only seven months and still a lot to mature, she moves out with stride and uses her quarters to her best effect, she carries a beautiful solid topline and carries her tail well. She is true away and back. She just needs to develop a little more in head, which I’m sure will come with age. She is presented in beautiful coat for one so young. RBB.

2nd Place Sabisabi Iroquois Tive at Jennobar (Mrs V & Mrs Y Morris & Langton). A bitch I’ve admired for sometime, and she didn’t necessarily disappoint, she has a lovely head, well laid shoulders, good rib and loin. Her coat is beautifully presented, she just needs to settle in her tail set on the move, and at times didn’t show herself to the usual exuberance I have seen her show before.

3rd Place Almondsbury The Pop Kids (Miss B Dummett)

Junior Bitch

1st Place Beachstone N Nujax Straighten Your Crown (Imp Usa) (Mrs A & Mr J Manser). She enters the ring and you think beautifully presented, and a youthful bitch. Then you watch her move and she makes you think “Impressive”, and then you go over her. This feminine bitch who is not big, but neither is she small, she has a beautifully balanced feminine head, plenty of plushness in the muzzle and definition in the head works. She has a nice length of neck into shoulders, her forechest is of a good depth and her rib spring is beautiful and a surprise when you go over. Lovely short loin, great rear quarters, carries herself well and solid topline, she is a character and one with a super bright future I believe. Was pleased to see her gain her first CC in the GB club show after my judging, and I am pleased to be the first in the UK to award her BB and BOB.

2nd Place Sabisabi Iroquois Tive at Jennobar (Mrs V & Mrs Y Morris & Langton)

1st Place Misperros Savannah (Mrs M Madigan). A well made bitch, a little coarse in back skull, but a lot to like about her. She moves with reach and drive, carrying a good topline and tailset. She just needs a little work in coat, but she is a good sound bitch.

She has a well proportioned head, a good dentition, She has lovely rib and forechest, she has a good loin. To be uber critical she could be a little bit more up on leg. Her coat was in fantastic condition as well today. Well done.

1st Place Jaclee Trails of Gold over Furian (Miss P K & Miss S M Herring-Reed & Reed) Ultra femine and petite but good balance. Nice head workings and denition. Good forechest and ribs for balance of proportions. Carries tail high on move today and didn’t go with full reach and drive that her constructions suggests she should that was due to her couldn’t’ be bothered attitude though. Super coat. Best Spec Beg.
