BLACKPOOL CHAMPIONSHIP DOG SHOW 25th June 2022 – HOUND GROUP

I would like to thank the officers and committee for offering me this appointment and for their much appreciated hospitality.

I must say that this was a super group and there were plenty of hounds that would easily have made the shortlist on another occasion. The weather was very unpredictable and the thunderstorm that ensued did unsettle quite a few of the hounds. I was told that history was made with the Harrier being exhibited by the Holcombe hunt and what a fine example he was.

I selected the following for further consideration.

Afghan Hound – Pashtari Lord Byron. Mature male who has a stamp of quality, moved out well.

Beagle – Annavah Princess Tiana. My BPIB at Crufts this year and made up on the day, she has a super outline and is sound & true.

Greyhound – Ch. Europa Decuma via Windspiel. Curvy girl with a super outline and free and easy movement.

Pharaoh Hound – Ch. Bazinga King For a Day. Quality youngster with good breed type and stylish movement.

Rhodesian Ridgeback – Carlincox First Impression. Another made up on the day, he throws a beautiful outline and has a wonderful head and expression.

Group 1 – Ch. Sade Paris. This stunning Irish Wolfhound presents the perfect picture of a stallion hound in his prime, he screams quality! Handsome headpiece with expressive eye, well made and proportioned body, super legs, feet and forehand, rock solid topline and excellent quarters. He is so sound out and back with excellent foot timing. Totally at one with his sympathetic breeder, he upped the ante in the final go around and could not be denied. Delighted he went all the way to BIS, many congratulations!

Group 2 – Ch. Swansford Gregorydor. Long Haired Dachshund, I have admired this lad since I first saw him as a puppy, and he did not disappoint when I finally got hands on. He has the most beautiful head with keen but kind expression, super forehand with tight well fitted elbows, good depth of chest, super ribbing, topline and well-defined quarters. His coat and conditioning were 1st class and he is sound & true and moves out with style. Pushed the winner very hard.

Group 3 – Crème Anglaise’s Just Julian with Silkridge (Naf, Taf). This stunning Whippet puppy is out of the top drawer, he is special and he knows it. Stunning head & eye, crested neck and excellent front, good depth of chest and correct topline. Super quarters with low set hocks used to full advantage on the move, he floats round the ring with the desired daisy cutting action and he is so sound out and back. Glorious coat and in spanking conditioning, despite his youthfulness he fully deserved his place in this quality line-up. Delighted to hear he won both the puppy group and overall winner of the puppy stakes under fellow Beaglers.

Group 4 – Bronia Solar Flare. Another precocious puppy who can hold her own in any company. This exquisite Smooth haired Dachshund girl has a head and expression to die for, so good through the body, she excels in forehand with a super keel and lovely front and feet. Super topline held well at all times, excellent underline and quarters. She has attitude and is as sound as a pound with a good footfall. Totally unfazed by the inclement weather she showed like a trooper.
