Crufts

Breed: Beagle

Crufts 2022

Friday 11th March 2022

I would like to thank the Kennel Club for the opportunity to judge my heart breed at the most prestigious dog show in the world. Heartfelt thanks also to the exhibitors for entering their wonderful hounds & for accepting my placings with such good grace.

A few observations, please, please have a look at your hounds’ head, a beagle should have a kind expression that melts your heart, we either have hounds that are too broad in skull with small eyes & a harsh expression or the other extreme hounds lacking in stop & depth of muzzle. Also, whilst dentition was good there were quite a few hounds with small teeth & a lot with dirty teeth. Movement also needs a mention, whilst profile movement may look amazing a lot of hounds fell down on the out and back, moving close behind and wide or flicking fronts. On the plus side temperaments were very good and in the main hounds were shown in clean condition.
