Breed: Boston Terrier

RICHMOND 2022 BOSTON TERRIERS 9.9.22

I was well pleased with the overall quality and feel the breed is in a very health state at the moment. There was no shortage of sportsmanship which made for a pleasant day.

Class 375 VD (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Mair’s Ch Glenauld Nevada JW, 8 year old in great form for his age with many breed qualities. Scores heavily with his clean, well balanced outline, elegantly crested neck, he has excellent head type and was fit and hard with great hammy quarters that he used well.

Class 376 MPD (6 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Best Puppy Ward’s Wildax Liverpool Lover of Frenbosen, 7 months and such a promising baby though quite forward for his age. Really striking and full of quality, he has lovely head type with perfectly placed ears and eyes. Paintbox marked, he holds his outline at all times and covered the ground with ease and style. Should carry his title when fully mature.

2nd: Quick’s Havance Pablo Escabar, barely 6 months and out of a smaller mould though still his outline is compact and well balanced. Has a look of intense class but now his head needs to mature and develop and catch up with his body. Moves smartly in profile but can still tighten in front.

3rd: Hounslow’s Ridgeway Rambler.

Class 377 PD (4 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Quick’s Havance Pablo Escabar.

2nd: Jones’ Dalenamag Black Lotus, 11 months dark seal dog in great condition. Not too happy on the table but was confident enough on the floor and moved smartly. Pleasing head with ideal lip placement, very typical expression, neat ears and good bite. Although muscular can still tighten a little.

3rd: Backhurst’s Buick Apollo Shawmut

Class 378 JD (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Kennedy’s Popinix Mr Brightside, 15 months who was more relaxed on the move than on the table. Good to go over with quality head and expression, used his ears well and made a very compact picture. Moved steadily.

Class 379 YD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Rankin & Price’s Wildax Jurgen Klopp, no mistaking his sex and he could be a shade shorter coupled but he has great appeal in head and forehand. Could use his ears more enthusiastically but he is a really sound and steady mover with a definite smartness about him.

2nd: Hughes’ Delaws Artistic Dreams, has a pleasing head and expression and used his ears well. Could have been happier on the table but settled to move well,

Class 381 PGD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Sandells’ Shawmut The Trailblazer, a little longer in muzzle than some but the overall make and shape is very pleasing with excellent front if the feet could tighten. Showed well.

2nd: Avent’s Rosparquier Jack Wills at Sueno, mature and compact but not quite as pleasing in topline as 1 and his head could have a little less nose wrinkle. Moved steadily.

Class 382 LD (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: CC Batey’s Takaira American Avenger For Bronheim, at 3 years this smart, well-balanced dog took my eye from the start and didn’t disappoint on the table. In cracking condition he has a beautiful head and typical Boston expression, clean neck of correct length and is so well marked. He is quite the showman and is devoid of exaggeration with a classic outline. Sound and steady on the move, a hard dog to fault who should be a worthy Champion and a benefit to the breed.

Class 383 OD (5 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Reserve CC Mair’s Glenauld Broadway Joe, handsome 2 year old, masculine and full of quality. Typical head and expression and basically well-proportioned and constructed but the Limit Dog had a little better defined topline.

2nd: Worrell’s Aprika Dirty Harry at Miamou, 2 year old of good basic type, pleasing head with well-placed and carried ears, great spring of rib and well balanced standing and moving.

3rd: Harrison’s Ch CH Eairycor Celtic Manxspirit.

Class 384 SBD (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: D. Artistic Dreams.

Class 385 VB (5 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Best Veteran & Reserve CC Quick’s Ch Yakee Let It Be Me For Havance JW, 8 ½ years but you’d never think it. Absolutely lovely type all through and essentially feminine but still has ample substance. Beautiful head and expression, nicely marked with a typical outline and in fit hard condition. She still impresses on the move and later in the day won 2nd in the Veteran Group.

2nd: Avent’s Ridgeway Revelation at Sueno Sh.CM, 8 ½ again and another who showed so obligingly for her handler. Feminine and extrovert with a sweet expression who was unlucky to come up against such a star.

3rd: Bundy’s Sister Lobo.

Class 386 MPB (5 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Cox’s Sweet Star Princess, 6 months and very promising though despite being so petite she has great hammy quarters. Feminine head of quality full of expression. Soundly put together and moved steadily.

2nd: Atherton-Kemp’s Advocates Kween Of The Ring TAF, 9 months and I really liked her but she was reluctant to move and gave her handler a hard time. Very promising with lovely head and expression and clean, flowing lines, she just shouts quality even though she needs to deepen in body. Would love to see her in a more cooperative mood when fully mature.

3rd: Sandells’ Shawmut Shelby Dakota.

Class 387 PB (4 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: S. Star Princess.

2nd: Batty’s Star Spangled at Solobat, 11 months and full of quality, good head type and basically well balanced throughout. Moved better in front than behind.

3rd: Jones’ Dalenamag Lotus Flower.

Class 388 JB (4 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Jefferson & Smith’s Lovewell Lets Make It Baby,

2nd: Conway & Chapman’s Norcairn Years N'Years JW, two really appealing bitches who were unlucky to compete in the same class. Both have great head qualities and are essentially shapely and well balanced. I preferred the hindquarters of 1 who was also a little steadier on the move.

3rd: Hamlin’s Devotoblaze Hope's Miracle.

Class 389 YB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Ward’s Frenbosen Rockaby Lullaby, super headed feminine bitch of 18 months, lots of type and full of quality. She was in great hard condition with really well developed and let down hindquarters. Clean, sharp outline and another who should have a rosy future.

2nd: Cox’s Bostontime Silver Lady, shapely bitch of excellent overall type who comes to life on the move. Not quite the intense quality of 1.

Class 390 NB (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Jefferson & Smith’s Frenbosen Its Just Me at Lovewell, 17 months with a look of quality and the basic outline is there even though her undercarriage is rather frilly. Pleased in head and expression. Just about did enough on the move.

Class 391 PGB (4 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Mair’s Glenauld Paris Hilton, 2 years stylish and showy, beautiful head and expression, clean well-balanced outline and she moved very impressively.

2nd: Mason’s Aprika Ella Fitzgerald, 18 months and a real showing fool but a little frilly underneath today and she could be shorter coupled. Even so she has the most gorgeous head and expression which will always appeal.

3rd: Lewis & Levene’s Aprika Dallas.

Class 392 LB (7 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: CC & BOB Mair’s Glenauld Gone With The Wind, at 3 ½ years this bitch is at her mature best and was on her toes all the time. Lovely head with gorgeous eyes and well set and carried ears, neck and forechest are just right and she is very much all of a piece with moderate angulation all through. Her great character shines through and she is such a convincing mover. Full marks to the Glenauld kennel for their amazing consistency. Everything in their team was of the highest quality.

2nd: Spenser & Hunter’s Wildax Little Mix, another top quality bitch of excellent overall type with so much to like. Not quite the head proportions of 1 but still she has an appealing expression and clean, well balanced outline who impressed on the move. Two top quality bitches but 2 wasn’t as on her toes as 1.

3rd: Pellowe’s Bospeltz Earth Angel.

Class 393 OB (4 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: Kennedy’s Ch. Esangee My Shining Star Over Antrix, high quality bitch deserving of her title. Outline flows and she comes together on the move. Very much the overall package with a lovely head and expression and very pleasing ears and eyes.

2nd: Sandells’ Bostonkaibos Daisy Sunshine Over Shawmut (Imp Deu), 6 years old and another quality bitch with a pleasing head and expression but a little weaker in pastern than 1. Moved steadily.

3rd: Hounslow’s Ridgeway Rum Truffle.

Class 394 SBB (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Best Special Beginners Cox’s B. Silver Lady.
