Windsor Dog Show Society

Breed: Spaniel (Welsh Springer)

Firstly, I would like to thank the Officers and Committee of Windsor for inviting me to judge, secondly the exhibitors for allowing me to assess their dogs and finally my stewards for ensuring everything ran smoothly.

Veteran Dog/Bitch (3)

1st: WOODHAMS’ Tobermyn Minstrel Boy – 10 year old dog and certainly not looking his age and shown in excellent coat and condition. Masculine balanced head on long clean neck, shoulders well laid back, deep chest and well sprung ribs, enough angulation to his well muscled hindquarters, moved true and straight with drive.

2nd: MCCANN’s Slapestones Tidal Force – 7 year old dog, not as tidy on the move as the first but slightly shorter in body. Head balanced, clean throat, straight well boned forequarters, enough depth to his chest, good spring of ribs and strong slightly arched loin, hocks well let down.

3rd: 7267 TUBB’ Slapestones Tidal Wave For Alsutu

 MPD (3)

1st: HARVEY’s Our Royal Welsh To Marimead (Imp NLD) – 8 months old and very raw puppy, presented a balanced picture stacked, pleasing head with kind eyes, nothing overdone, straight front with angles correct front and rear, hocks well let down, moved well. BP dog

2nd: LUCKETT-ROYNON’s Solva Mystery – 6 months old and not the overall shape of the first or the rear angulation. Masculine head, good bone, round feet, well laid back shoulders, deep chest and good spring of ribs. Needs to settle on the move.

3rd: STONE’s Kyle Kidenoan Mark Time For Merrem

PD (2)

1st: HARVEY’s Kyle Our Royal Welsh To Marimead (Imp NLD)

2nd: STONE’s Kidenoan Mark Time For Merrem – third in previous class, head balanced, straight front, longer in body than the first and lacked the substance, moved ok.

JD (2)

1st: GRAHAM’s Don's As Bold As Brass With Nyliram (Swed Imp) – 13 months old who is maturing well, clean in outline with a well-proportioned head, clean neck and well boned straight front, with correct angles front and rear. Shown in muscular condition and firm over the loin giving a correct topline. He moved freely and easily covering the ground well.

2nd: STEVENSON’s Mymmsbrook Matador with Blythway – 15 months old slightly longer in body than the first and not as foot perfect on the move. Masculine balanced head, well muscled neck, good spring of ribs and well angulated hindquarters.

YD (1)

1st: STEVENSON’s Mymmsbrook Matador with Blythway

PGD (6)

1st: BARKLEY’s Chanangel Mr Whodat At Cherryheath JW - Smart compact young dog, attractive masculine head with kind expression. Correct reach of neck with no throatiness. Plenty of depth to his chest and correct overall body proportions. Strong and muscular hindquarters with good width of second thigh. Moved around the ring with confidence, covering the ground.

2nd: TOLLADAY’s Bethersden Brigadier - Shapely outline to this young dog, he has a balanced profile when stacked and on the move, with good substance and depth all through. However, his lack of confidence to show himself off to his advantage lost him this class today. Masculine head of good proportions, showing good chiselling and a dark, kind eye. Strong muscular neck, well sprung ribs and a firm topline. Shown in good muscle tone. Moved well from all angles.

3rd: WHITE’s Mymmsbrook Malbec With Fiergen

LD (7,1)

1st: GRAHAM’s Nyliram Let's Twist Again JW - A super compact dog full of breed type with nothing overdone who was very close up for the RCC. Loved his compact outline, so sturdy and workmanlike but nothing is overdone. Masculine head, strength to the foreface, dark eyes with a keen and alert expression. Strength in his forequarters, deep and well sprung ribs, short coupled with strong quarters. Moving around the ring with ease.

2nd: MILLARD’s Ferndel High Command at Rubylea - Another compact dog full of breed type. Masculine balanced head with kind expression and dark eye. Has a clean neck of good length leading to well-placed shoulders, good width and depth to his chest and a firm topline. Strong hindquarters with a good turn of stifle and width to his second thigh, hocks well let down. Moved true coming and going. Just splitting hairs between the first two.

3rd CEMIS’ Taimere’s Talk About Me

 OD (6)

1st: HARRISON’s Sh Ch Glenbrows Revolution JW – When this dog entered the ring, my first impression was that he was too long and it’s not until you actually have your hands on him that you realise that this is down to his markings, as he is perfectly balanced throughout and flows from head to tail. He was presented in fabulous coat and condition. His head is masculine and balanced with a dark eye and alert expression, sitting on a strong muscular neck that fits smoothly into his well laid back shoulders. He has depth to his chest and a good spring of rib giving plenty of heart and lung room and his loin is muscular and slightly arched. On the move he commanded attention with his ring presence and powerful true ground covering action. Pleased to award him the CC and BOB.

2nd: REES’ Hudolus Rhys Henllys at Typica Sh.CM – 8 year old who’s head coat colouring is just starting to give his age away. However, he moved around the ring with a powerful ground covering action and was true coming and going. He has a masculine well balanced head, good reach of neck into well laid back shoulder, deep chest and good spring of ribs, level topline with slight rise over a muscular loin and good turn of stifle, slightly larger frame than the first but still balanced throughout. Pleased to award him the RCC.

3rd: 7271 JENKINS and JENKINS’ Cwmbeili Morgan

GCD/B (5)

1st: BENNETT’s Helgen Romeo The Lover for Flyboron – Masculine headed dog, slightly long in body, angles correct front and rear, straight front with correct cat like feet, deep chest with good spring of ribs, hocks well let down. Moved the truest in this class.

2nd: STEVENSON’s Mymmsbrook Matador with Blythway

3rd: TUBB’s SLAPESTONES TIDAL WAVE FOR ALSUTU

MPB (2)

1st: BLACKFORD’s Amblelight Adhara – two very raw puppies headed by this 8 month old, who was more balanced overall than the second, feminine balanced head, straight front, enough bone for her age, tight feet, good spring of rib and enough length to her body. Moved ok when she settled.

2nd: TEW’s Pamicks Dream With Me – 7 months old going through the leggy stage and not as together either stacked or on the move as the first. Sweet face with kind expression. Well boned and tight feet, depth of body, well let down hocks.

PB (2)

1st: RITCHIE, RITCHIE and RITCHIE’s Sarabande Dancing Queen At Slapestones - very promising 11 months old girl who very correct for her age. She has a feminine head with a lovely dark eye giving her a kind expression, enough length of neck, good lay of shoulder and length of upper arm, plenty of bone and a good spring of rib. She has wide quarters that she puts to good use to move very well. In the challenge for BP she was much more collected than the dog. BPIB

2nd: TEW’s Pamicks Dream With Me

JB (3)

1st: GRAHAM’s Nyliram The Moth Catcher – loved her overall shape and balance when stacked, so feminine with a kind expression, clean muscular neck onto well laid back shoulders, deep chest and good spring of ribs, hindquarters strong with well let down hocks. Moved well around the ring with drive but just needs to relax her topline.

2nd: BONSER-HADFIELD’s Helgen Avis - feminine head, dark eye with soft expression. Correct length of neck leading into good layback of shoulder with good length of upper arm. Well ribbed with good depth of body. Well angulated hinquarters. Moved ok.

3rd: MORGAN’s Benoveor Endless Love

YB (2)

Only two in this class but two super examples of the breed and as expected from these kennels both turned out immaculately.

1st: GRAHAM’s Nyliram Telling Tales JW – loved her shape and nothing overdone, very feminine head with enough chiselling below the eyes and depth to her muzzle. Muscular neck onto well laid back shoulders, deep chest with enough spring of rib, slight arch of muscular loin, correct hind angulation and hocks well let down. Moved effortlessly around the ring and true front and back. Considered her for the RCC.

2nd: HARRISON’s Sh Ch Glenbrows Rhapsody JW – another young stylish bitch, pretty balanced head with dark eye and kind expression. Angulation correct from and rear, short back, deep brisket, well sprung ribs, correct hind angulation and hocks well let down. Another that moved around the ring commanding attention and true from every angle. Just lacked a bit of coat today

PGB (6)

1st: BLACKFORD and BLACKFORD’s Amblelight Porcia – more compact built than the second and did not help her handler one bit today. Balanced head with correct ear set, angulation correct from and rear, short in back with deep brisket, well sprung ribs and strong over the loin. Hocks well let down with good feet, moved straight and true front and back.

2nd: BALDRY’s Llon Llanharran Lleuci – overall built on a slightly larger frame than the first and with more length to her body. Feminine head with good reach of neck, deep chest, enough bone and width to second thigh with hocks well let down. Moved well with purpose.

3rd: SHAWYER’s Menstonia Wish Come True

 LB (5,1)

1st: TAIN’s Taimere’s The Mistrel - Looked the part today and full of breed type, she just flows when you go over her. Refined in head with balance and shape, kind in eye, she has well placed ears and plenty of work giving a super welsh expression. Good reach of neck with sloping shoulders and straight front. Well developed in chest and firm correct topline with slight arch over a muscular loin, angulated quarters with hocks well let down. She moved truly from all angles. Thoroughly deserved the CC today but just lacked a bit of enthusiasm when it came to the challenge for Best of Breed.

2nd: GRAHAM’s Nyliram Hetty Wainthropp – another oozing breed type and unlucky to meet first today and similar comments apply. Feminine balanced head with kind expression. Good reach of neck with sloping shoulders and straight front. firm correct topline with slight arch over a muscular loin correct angulated quarters, hocks well let down with desired cat like feet. Moved around the ring with drive. RCC.

3rd: REVILL and MONDAY’s JULITA RYVEETA JW

OB (5,1)

1st: HARRISON’s Sh Ch Glenbrows Paramour – another well presented dog from this kennel who presents a balanced picture when stacked with nothing overdone. Correct in head with dark eyes and alert expression. Good reach of neck and well laid shoulders. She has a good depth and is firm in topline. Although I appreciate this dog needs to tighten in front this will come with maturity and her overall qualities far outweigh any immaturity at this age.

2nd: SUTHERLAND’s Jacranella Serenade – this compact bitch is full of breed type, good reach of neck with sloping shoulders and correct front. Well developed in chest and firm correct topline, she has well angulated quarters, hocks are well let down, although she moved true she just lacked the drive of the winner.

3rd: JONES’ Sh Ch Julita Rumours at Trosley
