Working & Pastoral Breeds Association Of Scotland

Breed: Mastiff

Not a big entry and unfortunately I had to make some tough decisions and I could not award the Bitch CC or Reserve CC, as both females present were not happy with the indoor conditions and did not perform. I think as judges we have a responsibility first and foremost to the breeds we judge. I thank the exhibitor for her understanding on my decision.

Junior Dog (1)

1. Coulman-Hole’s, Incanto Del Fracasso for Womlu, 13 months of excellent type, still has a lot of developing to do. Balanced head of good strength with a nice clean eye, good strength to the muzzle. Good strong neck, topline is a little soft at this time. Good croup, excellent bone and feet, a little straight in the rear angulation. He has a balanced side gait, just needs to strengthen in the front coming towards. Reserve Dog CC.

Open Dog (1)

1. Coulman-Hole’s, Ch Cyberus It’s All About Bertie for Womlu, 3 ½ years old, a dog of excellent substance and pleasing type. Medium strength head, a shade too much wrinkling for me. Lovely clean eye, ears of good size, well carried. Excellent powerful neck and good flow onto an excellent topline. Excellent croup, good bone and feet, balanced angulations, good depth of chest. He could be a little stronger in the hocks moving away but in profile his movement was excellent, he probably would have appreciated a bigger ring. Very well handled, pleased to award him the Dog CC & BOB and to later see him being shortlisted in the Group.

Limit Bitch (1)

1. Lyons’, Cyberus Cliodha, 2 years old brindle, unfortunately this girl was very unsettled in the indoor hall and it was quite difficult to assess her. She was a good size and had good substance. I would prefer more strength to her head. Nice clean eye, ears of good size. Powerful neck, prefer better flow to her topline. Good bone and feet. Needs to strengthen in the rear on the move and unfair to comment on her side gait as she was quite unhappy.

Open Bitch (1)

1.Lyons’, Cyberus Rhuna at Avadelyon, 3 years old with a pleasing head, nice clean eye, good reach of neck, topline rather soft and I felt she could have been presented in a fitter harder condition. She has excellent bone, a little weak on the pasterns. Well developed chest. She was not happy inside today and her movement was very difficult to assess and added to this, she had a poor head carriage on the move which distorted everything.
