The Siberian Husky Club Of Great Britain Championship Show Sunday 17th April 2022

Judge Michael Patrick (coldasice)

Can I firstly thank the SHCGB for giving me the chance to judge at their Championship show, it was an honour to be asked. A special thankyou also to all the hard working members who put on such a well organised show. The weather was perfect allowing judging to take place in the large outside rings where the dogs were able to move freely. The overall standard of exhibits today was high with just one or two dogs either carrying a little excess weight or not quite enough. Luckily the lockdown seemed to only have affected one of the young dogs with just a little careful handling needed. Thank you to all the exhibitors who took their time to come. Hoping you all enjoyed your day as much as I did.

SPECIAL VETERAN DOG (2,0)

1. CH FLINT AV VARGEVASS FOR CHATANIKA (IMP NOR) (Mr P & Mrs L Robertson)

Grey/White just a couple days short of 11 years and in such good all round condition. Such a nice head with lovely eye shape and size, correct shape to ear and nicely spaced. Good strong chest, legs parallel and to the front. Good arch to the neck with nice extension on the move, solid topline moving down to a well angulated rear, parallel and feet to front. Nice proportions all round.

2. ELLEONIA NEW MOON FOR CHARMEDKELZ (Miss K J Bolsover)

Grey/White another just short of 11 years but still in good condition. Lovely sound head, nice chest with good front and rear. Overall proportions not quite as good as first, topline nice on the stand and moved well.

VETERAN DOG (5,0)

1. CH ICEBEX SHOW ME THE MONEY (Miss R Cunningham)

Grey/White and not showing the signs of a veteran dog. Another strong head with correct proportions, good arch to neck and depth of chest. Nice angulations to front, parallel and true. Solid topline which was held well on the move. Covered the ground with ease, little light on his coat today but still in great condition. BVD

2. GLENBRANTER SUMMAT HOT FOR URIAKIN (Mrs C Anderson)

Black/White 9 years 6 months, lovely head with correct ear placement and size, good shape and a nice dark eye. Nice chest leading to a nicely angled front end, good feet and angulated pastern. Balanced back end with good angulation. Moved well not quite as good as first.

3. ASPEN RANGER WILDERNESS SPIRIT AT LYFEARON ShCM (IMP LVA) (Mr M & Ms J Kent & Sutton)

Grey/White 8 years 5 months and presented to a high standard. Beautiful head with correct ear and eye placement. Good chest, parallel front, good feet and to the front. Lovely topline held on the move. Movement good however rear movement not as good as 1 & 2. I would just prefer a little more neck. Handling faultless.

MINOR PUPPY (4,0)

1. NUKSHUK O’ANINGAN (Miss A V Bryson)

White/Grey Piebald 6 months and confident for his age. Really liked this little one’s proportions. Lovely head with correct ear and almond shaped eye. Good front and rear with nice feet and placement. Great topline, nice angulation, well put together dog. Moved really well for one so young. Later was awarded BPIS over his litter sister. One to watch.

2. INUKSHUK O’NANIITCHUK KULU (Miss A V Bryson)

Black/White carbon copy and litter brother to first. Pretty much a repeat of the write up for first however was not quite as confident on the move due to not being handled by his owner. On a different day these placings could be easily be reversed. Very nice litter.

3. INUKSHUK SILALUK O’THE SEA (Mr & Mrs Houston)

Grey/White surprised to find this boy is litter brother to 1 & 2. His first show so took a little time to settle which is understandable. As above nicely proportioned with a lovely head, good angulation. Confidence will come with time and then these three boys will be fighting over first place.

PUPPY DOG (7,1)

1. INUKSHUK O’ANINGAN (Miss A V Bryson)

2. INUKSHUK O’NANIITCHUK KULU (Miss A V Bryson)

3. SUTARKA’S SORREL WITH RAYAWNA (Mr R & Mrs D Muir)

Grey/White 10 months with a lovely head and expression. Nicely proportioned with a nice parallel front good feet and stood all square. Coat in nice condition, topline good and presented well. Moved well however front a little wide on the move compared to others. Overall another very nice pup.

JUNIOR DOG (4,2)

1. PELENRISE DON’T STOP MOVING JW (Mrs P & Mrs H Taylor &Taylor-Morris)

Black/White 14 months super head with keen expression. Lovely ear position shape and size, lovely dark eye with correct shape. Well-proportioned dog with a lovely side profile. On the stand feet nicely square and to the front, parallel front and rear with correct angulation. Presented in excellent condition, moved light and effortless. Very nice.

2. CHARMEDKELZ FOZZIE BEAR (Miss K J Bolsover)

Red/White 14 months a little more rangy and less coat today than the winner. Head nice however ears a little larger than I would prefer. Good angulation to front and rear with a level topline. Little skittish on the move, just needing time to settle then moved well.

YEARLING (2,0)

1. PELENRISE DON’T STOP ME NOW (Mr A & Mrs J Eagles)

Grey/White 14 month’s nice head but not as good as his litter brother, winner of junior class. Nice arch to the neck, nice chest and again standing all square. Nice angulation, side profile good but lacking his coat today. Moved well around the ring, moving away however not to the standard of his litter brother.

2. WIGHTFLIGHT MALLACHIE (MS J D Platt)

Grey/White just short of two years old, unfortunately no coat to show today. Nice head with a lovely expression. Good length of neck, nice depth of chest. Parallel front and rear and square on the stand. Felt a little more angulation needed to the pastern, which seemed to have little effect on his movement.

NOVICE DOG (2,0)

1. KENTWONE SHOOTER (Mrs S C Johnson)

Black/White 9 month a masculine head with good ear placement, correct eye shape and position. Would prefer a little more neck however as still a puppy that may change. Good front, straight and to the front. Presented in great condition moved well in full coat.

2. INNESKA CALCITE BLUE FOR CHATANIKA (Mr P & Mrs L Robertson)

Black/White 2 year old and sadly affected by the covid lockdown. A lovely boy in great condition with nice proportions and good angulation. Great head with lovely ear placement. A little nervous so struggled to put my hands on him. Managed to settle while moving but unable still to go over properly, hoping he gets his confidence back.

POST GRADUATE (2,0)

1. CWNHAPUS JENSON BUTTON (Mr H & Mrs B A Morris)

Grey/White 2 years 6 month with a lovely head and a keen expression wanting to please his handler. Good ear placement, size and shape. Nice arch to neck into a level topline. Good depth of chest with a nicely angulated front. At rest stood nicely square, correct rear angulation. Movement was light and effortless with a correct tail following behind.

2. PELENRISE DON’T STOP ME NOW (Mr A & Mrs J Eagles)

MID LIMIT (2,0)

1. PELENRISE DON’T STOP ME NOW (Mr A & Mrs J Eagles)

2. CWNHAPUS TAKHINI WITH ADELLARZ (Mrs A Stimpson)

Grey/White 3years 5 month with a nice head, correct ear and eye placement. Good depth of chest with a nice parallel front and rear. A little heavier than I prefer so struggled with the heat while moving. Presented well in full coat.

LIMIT (5,0)

1. SIBERIADRIFT SECRET UNTOLD (Mrs E Mrs K & Miss P Ranby & Hughes)

Grey/White 2 years 7 month stood out in this class and pushed through all the way taking BIS. Handled by his youngest owner who could teach us all a few handling lessons. With a super head correct ear size and placement, brown eye with correct shape. Nice arch to the neck leading into a level topline. Correct front parallel and true. Side profile showing nice proportions and correct angulations. Movement was free and easy both coming and going, covering ground with ease. CC, BIS

2. LYFEARON WE’RE ALL MAD HERE (Mr M & Ms J Kent & Sutton)

Red/White 1 year 7 month very little between these two dogs. It finally came down to movement which I felt one had more rear drive. Again this boy was handled by a young lad to the best of the dogs ability. Presented in great condition having a lovely head, nicely arched neck with a solid topline. Both front and rear parallel and true with great angulation. Movement light and effortless pushing all the way to take RCC.

3. CWNHAPUS INNOKO JW (Mr H & Mrs B A Morris)

Grey/White 3 years 5 months presented to a high standard. Stunning head with good ear and eye placement. Nice arch to neck with level topline, great front true and parallel. Overall having the slightest more bone than one and two. Movement free and easy round the ring, fully coated giving the impression of more body however hands on proved this not the case. Very nice.

OPEN DOG (7,2)

1. SIBERIADRIFT WOLF MOON JW (Mrs E Mrs K Miss P Ranby & Hughes)

Grey/White 4 years 2 months nice proportions all round. Lovely head with correct ear set, size and shape. Good front and rear with correct angulation. Presented in lovely condition, movement was free and easy. Just the slightest more bone than I prefer, however had no effect on his movement.

2. LYFEARON BLAZING HEART JW (Mr M & Ms J Kent & Sutton)

Grey/White 5 years 3 months very similar to first however I just preferred the head of one. Presented in excellent condition and handled to the best of the dogs ability. Nice proportions throughout allowing the movement to be light and easy.

3. RAJARANI DOMINIQUE (Mr & Mrs Houston)

Grey/White 6 years 9 months having what seems a lighter frame to one and two. Lovely condition, nicely put together with a good parallel front and rear, correct feet, level topline and correct angulation. Movement was sound however needed the chance to drive from the rear more. Very nice.
