East of England Agricultural Society - Championship Show 2022

Japanese Spitz

I must say a huge ‘thank you’ to all of the exhibitors, not only for the huge entry but for your sporting attitude too.

I really did enjoy my day judging your delightful breed with two truly excellent stewards keeping the ring moving efficiently.

I have to mention one serious issue that I found in a large majority of the exhibits and that was, quite frankly, disgusting and unacceptably dirty dentition.

To keep a dog’s teeth clean is , in my book, normal welfare and care for any dog and I feel that even if the breed is susceptible to dirty teeth, then what I saw today verging on disgraceful.

1ST 6665 - Charney Fame & Aclaim (Mrs S Bliss)

This youngster scored for me in head and expression. He has superb ears and great overall balance with good depth and lovely feet and screams breed type. Maturing well and in good jacket he looks very good on the stack. I would just prefer a better top-line to croup/tail-set. He moved OK.

 2ND 6695 - Snowshoes in with A Bang (Mrs J E & Miss J Smith)

This ultra-raw baby was pushing the winner hard, in-fact he very nearly took the class, but just didn’t settle at all. I really liked him for fluidity in front action when I could see it and he has great shoulders and is also good for breed type. I think once he bodies up, grows some coat and begins to mature that he will present a better picture of balance and he will have a very rosy future.

1ST 6695 - Snowshoes in with A Bang (Mrs J E & Miss J Smith)

He was much more settled in this class and was most definitely more accurate on the move to take this class.

2ND 6659 - Plushlandia Easy Boy Glamglow (imp) NAF TAF (Mr R, Mrs K & Mrs A Aston & Bowen)

I liked this youngster for head and expression, top-line and croup. He was presented in good jacket but his rear action let him down today.

1ST 6703 - Sakkaku Cloud Dream Weaver (Miss C L Warrington)

Once settled, this dog looked very good in his profile action. He has lovely depth, plenty of body and an excellent croup and tail-set. His is all male in head with no coarseness. He is another who I would prefer a little tidier in rear action.

2787. Japanese Spitz - Yearling Dog

1ST 6685 - Cheechako Aurelius (Mrs T Pittock)

This was a really super headed dog with lovely bone, a super front and good depth. He holds a strong top-line, has an excellent croup and tail and really looked the part in his side-gait. A touch out of coat, he was another who could firm up in rear action.

2789. Japanese Spitz - Post Graduate Dog

1ST 6669 - Tawvale Fubuki at Camylaw (Miss L Chester)

This dog scored for me in pigment, top-line and croup. Today he was a touch out of jacket and a little flamboyant in his front action for me.

2790. Japanese Spitz - Limit Dog

Entries: 8 Absentees: 2

1ST 6652 - Llwyni Perfect Illusion for Owlander (Mrs K & Miss E Armstrong)

This dog was a clear winner of a disappointing class. He has a fabulous head, lovely ears and excellent feet. He presents a picture of total balance on the stack and shows himself off well in side-gait. I would prefer him a touch cleaner going away.

2ND 6688 - Kessaku Bobby Dazzler (Mrs D Prout)

I liked the breed type of this dog who also had a super head and expression. He, like the winner, is balanced and shows good flow but he was not so clever in his rear action.

2791. Japanese Spitz - Open Dog

1ST 6653 - Ch Charney Precious Gift for Kumiko Jww-15 JW ShCM (Mr R, Mrs K & Mrs A Aston & Bowen)

This dog was looking so much better than I have seen him on the previous 2 times that I have judged him. Today he was the consummate show man. He has an excellent outline with great balance and was in good jacket. He was pushed all the way by the runner up, but I felt that he just scored that bit extra in head for me. On the move he was accurate and I was pleased to award him the Dog CC.

2ND 6686 - Ch Itoshi Toto Kijutsu at Cheechako (ai) (Imp Aus) (Mrs T Pittock)

A new one to me and he pleased me greatly. Close up to the winner, he scores in body proportion, depth and outline and he also moved with precision and style. I am not surprised to see that he is a title holder and he thoroughly deserved the Res C.C.

1ST 6693 - Snowshoes All That Glitters (Mrs J E & Miss J Smith)

Ultra-raw but such a personality, this youngster is captivating. She has an exquisitely feminine head with lovely pigment. She has a firm top-line, perfect croup to tail-set, lovely tight feet and was by far the soundest mover in this class.

2ND 6666 - Charney Santa's Cupid (Mrs S Bliss)

This youngster scored for me in breed type with a beautiful head and a lovely expression. She was a bit untidy on the move coming and going but has time on her side to sort herself out.

3RD 6679 - Tawvale Lola (Miss L G Fraser)

2795. Japanese Spitz - Puppy Bitch

1ST 6689 - Kessaku Mamma Mia (Mrs D Prout)

This puppy is quite a find, I thought and she was in consideration for the top honours today such is her quality. I loved her head and expression and ears. She has excellent depth for one so young and has a firm outline and an excellent croup. Presenting a picture of perfect balance, she was absolutely foot perfect on the move. She was an easy BPIB. I will watch her progress with interest.

 2ND 6693 - Snowshoes All That Glitters (Mrs J E & Miss J Smith)

 Repeat.

2796. Japanese Spitz - Junior Bitch

1ST 6674 - Cheechako Miss Mouse in Bernavia (Mrs S L Dickson)

This bitch is really good to go over and holds an excellent top-line, is good for croup to tail and was shown in good jacket. I would just prefer a touch more balance to her head. She moved true in all directions.

2ND 6684 - Llwynis State of Grace (Miss L Jones)

I very much liked the head and balance of foreface to back-skull in this one. Unfortunately today she was a touch out of coat and she could not match the winner for coup or for movement.

2797. Japanese Spitz - Yearling Bitch

Entries: 1 Absentees: 0

1ST 6681 - Kireina Beautiful Dreamer at Kaiaki JW (Mrs A Gibson)

This was everything that I was looking for today. I loved her head and expression, pigment, depth and top-line. She has an excellent croup, was in good enough jacket and moved accurately with style. Pushed all the way by an equally good Open bitch winner, I felt that in profile action she just had the edge and I was pleased to award her the Bitch C.C. & B.O.B. I am told that this is her second Certificate and I hope that her title follows shortly. In the challenge for BOB, I felt that she out-moved the male and also had much cleaner teeth!

2799. Japanese Spitz - Post Graduate Bitch

1ST 6678 - Tawvale Genki (Miss L G Fraser)

Out of coat, but she has the most beautiful head and expression with excellent feet, perhaps the best of the day. Good for top-line and croup she just needs to fill her frame and strengthen behind.

2ND 6673 - Sanyinko White Ivory TAF (Mrs T Church)

A bigger type and slightly stronger in head, she looked good in her profile action, but like the winner definitely needs to strengthen going away.

3RD 6658 - Llwyni Love Story for Glamglow (Mr R, Mrs K & Mrs A Aston & Bowen)

2800. Japanese Spitz - Limit Bitch

Entries: 5 Absentees: 2

1ST 6690 - Kessaku Tantrums and Tiaras (Mrs D Prout)

There’s no exaggeration here at all and she presents a superb outline on the stack and in her profile action too. Totally balanced, I liked her head and expression, ears and feet. Good for top-line and croup and in good coat, she just needs a touch more strength going away to complete the whole package.

  2ND 6662 - Kumotta Double Trouble (Ms A Benoist)

Here was another one that was very good to go over and she also scores in head and expression. Firm through the body with a good croup and tail she was little too flamboyant in her front action.

  3RD 6656 - Glamglow's Devil in Disguise JW (Mr R, Mrs K & Mrs A Aston & Bowen)

2801. Japanese Spitz - Open Bitch

Entries: 6 Absentees: 0

1ST 6661 - Charney Fine Design at Tartiko (Mrs P Bambridge)

This bitch looked an absolute picture and she was great to go over. I loved her for breed type. She has a very feminine head and an intelligent expression with good ears and very good feet. Well-bodied and totally balanced. In the final bitch challenge she was just a touch closer than ideal going away but she pushed very hard for the top honour but I was delighted to award her the Res C.C. (I am now told that she has two certificates and I am positive that her title will follow very shortly!)

2ND 6672 - Ch/int/ir Ch Sanyinko Silver Spirit (Mrs T Church)

Here was another good one to go over and she too has a beautiful head and expression. I liked her outline, ears and feet as well as her top-line and croup and tail. She was just not quite as settled or as accurate as the winner on the move.

3RD 6694 - Ch Snowshoes Belle of The Ball (Mrs J E & Miss J Smith)

2802. Japanese Spitz - Veteran Bitch

Entries: 4 Absentees: 1

1ST 6675 - Kessaku Yum Yum in Bernavia (Mrs S L Dickson)

I liked this veteran for breed type and quality. She has a lovely head and expression with good ears and she presents a picture of complete balance. She moved OK. I was pleased to hear that she took Veteran Group 4, Congratulations.

2ND 6680 - Tawvale Wini (Miss L G Fraser)

Another very lovely head and expression here, she has real refinement. Today she was just not so collected or as accurate on the move as the winner.

3RD 6671 - Ch Kessaku Pumpkin Paws ShCM (Mrs K Chudley)
