Many thanks to the committee for asking me to be the stand in judge for Portuguese Podengo which had drawn a very good entry for Mr G Dymock and he must have been disappointed not to be able to judge them. I also thank the sporting exhibitors for accepting my decisions and the friendly atmosphere round the ring and following judging. I really enjoyed judging your dogs, a shame there were some absentees but I was very pleased with the dogs entered today and the comments I received after judging.

1. Curtis’ Stormwitch Gingerbread 4yr old fawn dog with a smart outline. Good head and eye, not using his ears today which was a shame but good size and shape. Correct body proportions. Well angulated in read which he used well on the move. Slightly high stepping in front due to shorter upper arm than ideal.

1. Foscoe’s Pastel De Bacalhau De Viamonte at Zenabraao (Imp Prt) – Smooth dog with a masculine head with good ears, well laid shoulder and good bone. Slightly too long in body, well angulated rear. Moved well showing correct brisk movement.

2. Pearson & Wedge’s Stormwitch Heart and Soul at Nashnall – Smart dog when settled but was slightly nervous which was a shame. Good head and ear. Brisk movement which was sound and true.

1. Sampson & Brooks’ Morialta Ferreira – Very smart wire dog with an excellent head and ear. Good angulation both front and rear which shows in his typical brisk movement. Really smart dog who shows himself off so well. BD and BOB.

1. Wedge’s Stormwitch Macadamia at Rioccajen – 10yr old dog in excellent condition. Lovely head and ear. Slightly short in neck but well laid shoulders, ribbing extending well back and balanced rear angulation. Excellent on the move, brisk and true. RBD

2. Segui’s Arranbourne Faustino – 7yr old smooth dog who is slightly longer in body than ideal. Excellent head and ear, good length of neck and well laid shoulder. Good drive from the rear but a little high stepping in front.

1. Curtis’ Stormwitch Givenchy – Very attractive head and ear on this smart wire bitch. Well angulated front and rear which showed in her accurate brisk movement. RBB

2. Sampson’s Morialta Sesmarias – 2yr old wire which a lovely head and ear. Comes into her own on the move where her topline levels out. Good angulation both fore and aft. Moves better behind than her sister who was 3rd.

1. Segui’s Stormwitch Heirs and Graces at Arranbourne – Attractive bitch with a good head and ear, attractive expression. Well angulated fore and aft which showed in her good movement which was brisk and true. Just slightly too long in body.

2. Fold’s Aranbourne Galenia – Good head and ear, squarer in outline than 1, balanced angulation, good ribbing and moved well

1. Sampson’s Odisseia De Viamonte at Morialta (Imp Por) – 8yr old super bitch in good condition. Excellent head and ear with lovely expression. Well angulated both ends. Good length of ribbing. Super on the move showing her brisk true movement. BB and Best Veteran in Breed. Gave way to her son for BOB.
