National Working & Pastoral Breeds Society

Breed: Pyrenean Sheepdog (Long Haired)

Thank you to the Officers and Committee for inviting me to judge one of my favorite breeds. Although, only a few, they were of very good quality. My Best of Breed was exceptional. She is so beautiful.

OPEN DOG OR BITCH (5)

1. Flint’s Bel. Fin. Ch. Gastibelza de L’Oustaou de Padel. Although nearly eleven years old, an easy winner of this class and a very worthy dog champion. Masculine head with expressive dark eyes. Well placed ears. Good length of neck set into well placed shoulders. Prominent withers, straight front legs. Lean and muscular body with loin slightly arched. Hind quarters well-muscled with hocks set low. Harsh coat, corded over rear. Moved well with drive. BEST DOG.

2. Gwilliam’s Ready or Not Du Pic D’espade of Amienka (Imp Fra). Quite a different type, a young bitch that will mature. Appeared long in leg, but in proportion and balanced. It will be interesting to see how she grows on. Lovely outgoing temperament. Feminine, well-proportioned head with oval dark brown eyes and black rims, giving super expression. Very attractive colour. Nicely muscled and well angulated hindquarters, but I would have liked a bit more body. RESERVE BEST BITCH.

3. Flint’s Entre Nous Romance Sans Paroles.

VETERAN DOG OR BITCH (2)

1. Flint’s Bel. Fin. Ch. Sandytrail Ensorcele. What a star! A wonderful example of the breed and fits the breed standard perfectly. Such a show girl and so beautiful. Lovely, well-proportioned, feminine head. Skull and foreface parallel. Lovely shaped eyes and expression. Wonderful ears carried on top of head. Muscular slightly arched neck flowing into well angulated shoulders, prominent withers, parallel front legs, ample bone, good feet. In excellent coat, with cords on the rear. Athletic body, well angulated stifles, striding out, producing a fast, free gait, with minimum lift. Certainly does not act or look nine years old. Very ‘Fit for Purpose.’ I could imagine her gliding over the Pyrenean mountains for miles, with ease. BEST BITCH & BEST OF BREED.

SPECIAL BEGINNERS DOG OR BITCH (2)

1. Gwilliam’s Ready or Not Du Pic D’espade of Amienka (Imp Fra). BEST SPECIAL BEGINNER.

I was a little disappointed my winners did not stay for the groups, but I appreciate it was extremely hot and some had to travel a long distance.
