NATIONAL DOG SHOW MAY 2022 –

GUNDOG GROUP

I would like to thank the hardworking Committee for the invitation to judge the Gundog group. It was a pleasure to judge so many top quality dogs, hence my shortlist was made up of 10.

They were English Setter (Tattersett Dark Honey JW), German Wirehaired Pointer (Kimmax Kindly Standing Black), Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla (Enryb Skye Blue), Irish Setter (Sh Ch Quensha Take a Bow), Pointer (Shadybrook J Hoover at Whipspan (Imp USA), Golden Retriever (Linirgor Teacher’s Pet at Treeveville JW), English Springer Spaniel (Sh Ch Trimere Tickle me Fancy), Irish Water Spaniel (Stanegate Stage Debut (AI), Weimaraner (Hundwith Checkmate of Corotine JW), Cocker Spaniel (Sh Ch Coedcernyw Calendar Girl JW).

Gundog Group 1

Mrs D Youngson’s Linirgor Teachers Pet at Treeveville JW – Golden Retriever. This bitch caught my eye on the move, she is so balanced throughout. Lovely size, gentle expression with good pigment, clean neck into good lay of shoulders, excellent topline, which she held on the move. Good anglulation and muscle which enabled her to power around the ring with style and purpose. Delighted to award her the Gundog Group.

Group 2

Mr and Mrs Hillier’s Sh Ch Coedcernyw Calendar Girl JW – Cocker Spaniel. This girl arrived late for the group after winning Best of Breed from the largest entry of the day. I thought she was a great ambassador for the breed. She is certainly a merry Cocker, with a gorgeous head, good front and bone, good depth of rib and cobby. Excellent angulation and handled really well with good muscletone. She moved around the ring with drive and a pleasure to judge.

Group 3

Mrs C Razzell, Miss C Hazeltine, Mr D Crowther’s Hundwith Checkmate of Corotine JW – Weimaraner

A very eyecatching youngster with classic lines and a lovely colour. His movement was effortless showing his power and good reach, certainly could work in the field all day. Good masculine head, again good expression and he has such clean lines. Very good front and depth of ribs, excellent angulation and muscletone. I am sure his 3rd CC won’t be too far away.

Group 4

Mr and Mrs Bradley’s Stanegate Stage Debut (AI) – Irish Water Spaniel

With this youngster you could not overlook after handling. She is a good size with excellent coat, has plenty of power but retains her femininity. Lovely head and kind expression, good conformation and well muscled. On the move she is very true and balanced and built for the job in hand. Many congratulations on her winning her crown on the day.
