Breed: Champion Stakes

Judge: Diane Stewart Ritchie

What and honour and a pleasure to judge this quality class. The depth of quality in your lovely Champions made for exceedingly tough choices and at this level of competition small details mattered. These dogs were top notch and I rarely say this but, I really did wish I had more first prize cards. Thank you for accepting my decisions so graciously- I think we all realised how hot the competition was here today.

Class AVG ChD/B (20 Entries) Abs: 10

1st: DYMOND, Mr B. Sh.Ch. QUINTANA DIAMOND DUST AT FRIARSBELLE JW. GSP. An exciting young man whom I have recently done well for, awarding him his crown. He is getting better and better as he matures. He is strong, well made in all departments, stands on quality bone and feet. Excels in balance as well as his constructional qualities and is quite a joy on the around. He has a most appealing head and is solid but has a definite air of class about him. Whether on the stack or moving he easily conveys that he could work all day in the field. Put down in fabulous order, totally at one with his handler. They present a quiet yet elusive team.

2nd: GERRARD, Mrs M & BELL, Mrs C & GALLO: SH CH CHESTERHOPE C'MON OVER TO CARMANDINE (IMP NZ). Pointer. This classy girl I have awarded a group to and my sentiments about her have not changed. She is full of breed type, curves and class. She excels in front assembly, has a cracking topline and tail set and stands on correct oval bone and good feet. She has good proportions all through, is well ribbed up and is moderately angulated throughout. She has an easy, open side gait with good reach and drive and the use of her tail is quite delightful.

3rd: MILLARD, Mrs J & MILLARD, Mr M. SH CH FERNDEL HIGH COMMAND AT RUBYLEA. WSS. Another fine example of his breed who was presented here today in excellent order both in condition and presentation. Standing on good bone and quality feet. This boy has the most gorgeous head. Well ribbed back with good body, plenty substance yet elegant and abundant in type. He too put on a fine performance and pushed hard for his placing behind two favourites.
