WELKS – Leonbergers

Thank you to the Society, to the exhibitors, to my excellent steward who worked tirelessly in the cold & to my husband Mike who kept us supplied with hot drinks & snacks. I found three issues with this breed that breeders need to address – dentition, tail sets & weak front pasterns. I thought, on the whole, heads were correct & temperaments exemplary with exhibits in different stages of coat growth. I thought the majority had ample bone & substance for their individual size. I was looking for good breed type, good conformation & soundness so my comments will be repetitive.

Veteran Dog – 1

1st - Ch Engelben Fred in The Woods – Res CC – Impressive 8 year old balanced male, shown in pristine condition. He has a good head, good conformation, clean body shape, holds his backline in profile & sound from all angles.

MPD - 2

1st - Lempileijonan Unelmien Prinssi TAF – 8 month old male, head developing, balanced body shape, good angles front & rear & sound.

2nd - Morwinas Yggdrasdil Nui – 8 month old male with a good head, clean body shape just a fraction wide in front.

PD – 4, abs 1

1st - Lionsridge Lord of The Rings – 10 month male with a good heads, dark eye, correct ear set, deep long rib cage with moderate angles & sound from all angles.

2nd - Morwinas Warhammer – 8 month male with a good head. Good body shape just toes out fractionally & carries his tail a little high.

 3rd - Alfross Romabo Harper

JD – 2, 1 abs

1st - Lionsridge Lord of The Rings – repeat.

YD – 3, 1 abs

1st - Fairy Clocks Bonus Catch The World Into Lionsridge – 22 month male with a good head, clean body shape, straight front legs with strong pasterns, moderate angles front & rear, sound from all angles just lifts his tail a little high.

2nd – Dacfolke Eton at Soullariaax – 20 month Male with a good head, fractionally narrow in front, good front angles fractionally higher behind but still developing.

PGD – 7

1st – Corleone Navigator at Kalizmar – 18 month male with a masculine head, clean neck, straight front legs with strong pasterns. Clean body shape with moderate angles front & rear, he covered the ground in profile.

2nd – Davenheath Guilty Pleasure to Brenaljay – 20 month male, would have liked a touch more length of muzzle but he has a balanced body shape with good angles front & rear. Sound from all angles.

3rd – Condalf Final Chance

LD – 8, 3 abs

1st – Debbollinby Kandyman at Lionsridge JW – Dog CC, BOB & Working Group 4 – This 4 year old balanced male had everything I was looking for. Of good size, he was of good breed type with a masculine, but not coarse, head of correct proportions, strong neck flowing into good angles front & rear, straight well boned front legs with strong pasterns, clean body shape, with a deep, long ribcage. He held his backline in profile & was sound coming & going with a good reach in front & strong drive from behind. Nothing over or under done.

2nd – Sulandi Bring Me Sunshine – Another good 3 year old balanced male. Head of correct proportions, strong neck, parallel limbs & strong pasterns. Clean body shape with moderate angles, he held his backline on the move & was sound.

3rd – Ivan Leo vom Zarendorf (Imp Rus)

4th – Eanske's Drikus V Hescos Leos for Jantonely

5th – Alfros Kapuko Ko Aelivus

OD – 5, 2 abs

1st – Ch Debbollinby Just Kruzin' Into Kitarn JW ShCEx – 5 year old male with a head of correct proportions, parallel front legs with strong pasterns, clean body shape, moderate angles front & rear, sound from all angles would just like a little more length of second thigh.

2nd – Brynarian Balilaika – 5 year old male with a typical head, just a little heavy in body, good rear angles, vertical rear pasterns, sound from all angles.

3rd - Remrod's Blue Spinel at Taffnia (Imp Swe)

SBD – 2, 1 abs

1st – Dacfolke Hornblower – Best SB – 3 year old male with a good head, clean body shape, a fraction weak in pastern & raises his tail a little.

Veteran Bitch – 2

1st – Seaxa Polemique at Brynarian – 9 year old female in excellent condition. Strong neck, just a fraction longer in backline, moderate angles front & rear. She moved soundly holding her backline on the move.

2nd – Ch Starlake Cristol Confiture - 10 year old female with a good head, just a little frosting on her muzzle. Good body shape with moderate angles & sound when settled.

MPB – 3, 1 abs

1st – Morwinas Torrinsdottir – 8 month old female showing lots of promise. She has a feminine head, ample length of neck, good body shape with good angles front & rear. She held her backline in profile, just needs to strengthen in front.

2nd – Skjaergaardens Cheeky Mamma Mia (Imp Nor) NAF – 6 month old female, a real baby. Feminine head, enough neck into good front angles & a good body shape, just a fraction straight behind at this stage in her development.

PB – 2, 1 Abs

1st - Velikty Medved Angara Hug Kalizmar NAF – Res CC & BPIB – 8 month female showing lots of promise. Feminine head, good length of neck, good body shape with moderate angles. Sound & holds her backline in profile.

JB – 4, 1 abs

1st – Kaleobears over The Moon – 14 month female with a feminine head, ample length of neck, fraction longer in body, moderate angles but sound on the move.

2nd – Alfross Tulabo Amala for Coombevalley – 15 month female with a feminine head, good neck & body shape, moderate front angles but just short in second thigh. Sound coming & going.

3rd - Kaleobears Give You The Moon

PGB – 5

1st – Ps I Love You Nelly Bory Cysterskie – 5 year old female with a feminine head, backline a little longer than ideal, good front angles moderate rear angles, she held her backline on the move & was sound.

2nd – Gilvaris Hollyred – 3 year old female, again, with a feminine head, balanced length of neck, good front angles & moderate rear angles. Again, just a touch longer in backline but moved soundly.

3rd – Awedistra's Love Bites

LB – 8, 1 abs

1st – Awedistra's Love Bites – 20 month female with a feminine head, would just like a touch longer muzzle, good length of neck, parallel front legs, good body shape with good front angles & moderate rear angles. She held her backline on the move & was sound from all angles.

2nd – Inculpata Leo vom Zarendorf (Imp Rus) – 3 year old female with a feminine head, would just like a little more strength, ample length of neck, good body shape with a level backline, Sound in profile, just toes out fractionally.

3rd – Hima Psia Psota Into Lionsridge (Imp Pol)

4th – Lionscourt Queen Kapiolani

5th – Dacfolke Odina

OB – 5

1st – Ch Skjaergaadens Riding The Cribbar (Imp Nor) JW – Female CC – I liked this 3 year old female instantly for her breed type, size & substance. She has a feminine head, enough neck, level backline, deep, long ribcage, good angles front & rear, parallel limbs & she moved soundly from all angles. In the challenge, the dog had a touch more reach in front.

2nd – Ch Leosrus Roksanda to Kalizmar – 4 year old female, again with a feminine head, good neck, good body shape with a level backline. Moderate angles front & rear & sound.

3rd – Lionscourt Heavenly Hana

4th – Averkate Kassandra with Simden (Imp Rus)

5th - Mystic Charm Ginger Heaven for Benellieson (Imp Pol)
