Crufts 2022 Show Report

Russian Black Terriers

A challenging entry to judge where most of the exhibits were imports or overseas dogs. Quality overall was more consistent than I had anticipated and temperaments and general soundness excellent. There was also a general air of sportsmanship which was much appreciated, particularly as the breed was very late being judged, so many thanks for your patience.

Class 307. Veteran Dog

Entries: 2 Absentees: 1

1st Place Vinastino Fedor Emelianenro at Maharli (L Mccluney) 8 ys old, strongly made masculine dog, really excellent body and head, good coat, sound well-made quarters, could have done with a little more quality in neck & shoulders, purposeful mover. Best Veteran

Class 308. Puppy Dog

Entries: 2 Absentees: 0

1st Place Kenig Forein Blek Berkut (Imp Rus) (Mr J Clelford) very positive outgoing 7 months old baby puppy of correct overall make & shape, good head and body for age, moves with good drive but too close behind at this stage, ok coat. Best Puppy

2nd Place Dromnagus Red Dragon (Mrs J & Mr J Stevenson) taller puppy than the winner and he needs to drop in body and hind movement must improve, ok in head and coat, very good bone, will do better once he settles

Class 310. Post Graduate Dog

Entries: 2 Absentees: 0

1st Place Fortuna Feeria Nikita Kozhemjaka (Imp Due) (Miss E Bull) sizeable masculine dog who moves really well, typical head, coat could be better and he tends to roach is back on the move, but this could be temporary and I liked him a lot standing where he presented a very typical overall picture of the breed, excellent temperament, skilfully handled

2nd Place Ukusa Dobrynya (Mr W & Mrs E Garrood) this dog excels in neck and shoulders and has a very good front, but I would have liked him stronger behind with more drive and temperament on the move, excellent head, ok in body and coat

Class 311. Open Dog

Entries: 5 Absentees: 3

1st Place Nikita Tchornaya Lyoubov JW (T Dumini)beautifully constructed masculine dog, full measure for size and substance, excellent front, good head, stands little wide in front and coat somewhat soft, very good mover. Best Dog

2nd Place Fortuna Feeria Lexus (Imp Deu) (Miss L J Stone) another dog with good conformation, but not as masculine as the winner and I would have preferred more lay-back of shoulder, good topline, sound quarters, moves with purpose and drive, very well presented in good order

Class 312. Good Citizen Dog Scheme Dog

Entries: 2 Absentees: 0

1st Place Fortuna Feeria Nikita Kozhemjaka (Imp Due) (Miss E Bull) see previous class

Class 313. Veteran Bitch

Entries: 1 Absentees: 0

1st Place Dromnagus Black Pearl at Lintweed (Mrs L Newton) 10 years old bitch who could have passed for half her age, excellent overall construction with good shoulders, body and rear, pleasing head, good eye, a little sluggish on the move and she stands somewhat east and west in front, delightful temperament

Class 314. Puppy Bitch

Entries: 1 Absentees: 0

1st Place Dromnagus Dragonheart at Gainscroft (IKC) (Miss S L Vincent)11 months feminine bitch of correct type, very good head, excellent body and coat, rather weak behind and this was sadly reflected on the move, tail carriage not her fortune, sweet temperament and she was presented to advantage

Class 315. Junior Bitch

Entries: 2 Absentees: 0

1st Place Holodnaya Zhara Vivat! Poltava (Imp Ukr) (Ms O Lynnyk) strong good bitch presented in good order, very good body, ok in head and eye, could have done with more angulation fore and aft and a better tail, moved and showed well

2nd Place Guorthgern’s Radda Arya (Mrs J Stamp) this bitch handles very well and moves with great precision, typical head, still needs to develop in body and coat could be presented to better advantage, excellent bone and substance for one so young

Class 316. Post Graduate Bitch

Entries: 6 Absentees: 0

1st Place Kalaslane Revenge for Neukiebear (IKC) (Mrs S Odonnell) very correct and typical bitch of correct type whom I liked a lot and I found her hard to fault on overall construction, good head, sound body, topline, front and hindquarters, excellent mover, pressed hard in the challenge.

2nd Place Chernyi Zhemchug Tair Zhivaja Legenda at Guorthgern (Imp Rus) (Mrs O Stasiene)yet another well-made bitch who excels in head and movement, just a tad longer in loin than the winner and tail carriage detracts somewhat from overall balance

3rd Place Black Recording Angel Mandala at Vaghna (Imp Hun) (G Gavaghan)

Class 317. Open Bitch. Lovely class with much food for thought won by:

Entries: 11 Absentees: 0

1st Place Revolyutsiya Tara's Sarja JW Jch (Mrs C Skrinjar) this bitch caught my eye immediately upon entering the ring with her perfect proportions and overall balance. Very difficult to fault upon examination with perfect front and rear, good body of correct depth, strong, yet feminine head, good coat in excellent condition, perfect tail and she moved with great ease and determination. Best Bitch and BOB, looked really well in the group where her overall quality shone brightly

2nd Place Deti Arbata Freesia Wjw'20/jch Balt/lv/lt/ee/cz (Dr O. Babula) I thought this beautiful bitch would indeed be my winner here and I deliberated for a long time between these two top-class bitches, liked her enormously and most of the comments above also apply to this bitch who was so well-made and so well-presented, but she flagged a little on the move when a final decision had to be made and had to pay the price, nonetheless a bitch of enviable quality. Res Best Bitch

3rd Place Proud of Being Ava Gardner at Evrussky (imp) (Miss E J N Williams)

Class 318. Good Citizen Dog Scheme Bitch

Entries: 4 Absentees: 0

1st Place Black Recording Angel Mandala at Vaghna (Imp Hun) (G Gavaghan) see previous class

2nd Place Kalaslane Judge Judy at Carantana (IKC) (Ms H & Mr R Norton & Thomas) substantial bitch with very good front, body and head, excellent coat, falls away too much over the croup which also restricted her hind-movement somewhat. Very good temperament and she was handled well.

3rd Place Aveyrew Hot Gossip at Carantana (Ms H & Mr R Norton & Thomas)
