Firstly, thank you to the officers and committee of Darlington Dog show Society for inviting me to judge, allowing me the honour to award my first set of CC’s. I am grateful to the exhibitors to have given me the opportunity to go over some lovely dogs.

Veteran Dog (0)

Minor Puppy Dog (3,2a)

Kannagara’s Tweedledum Play it cool. A 7-month-old yellow dog. A kind eye, alert and keen to please his handler. Clean neck leading onto a good depth and breadth of chest. Shown in good condition, well-muscled throughout the body and in hind quarters. Short coupled. Good turn of stifle. Very well presented.


Puppy Dog (3, 1a)

Allen’s Calvin Klein Warm Heart of Friend NAF TAF. A chocolate puppy dog. Well proportioned head. Strong neck, a deep chest, good spring of rib and level topline. Short coupled. Tail typical for the breed, thick at base and tapering to the end. Needs to strengthen in hock. Best puppy dog.

Braddon’s Trendlewood One More Time. A smart yellow dog with kind eyes, well set ears and a sweet expression. Well-muscled neck, ribs going well back and short coupled. An otter tail. Not in his best jacket. Preferred the movement of the first. 


Junior Dog (2)

1.Tulloch’s Tullochmohr Final Hurrah. A really smart black dog, who caught my attention when he entered the ring. A masculine head, strong neck and well-muscled across the body. Well sprung ribs. Good otter tail and stood four square at all times. Moved well. Presented in good coat and condition. Considered for higher honours and I am sure his day is not far away. Looking forward to watching his progress.

2. Allen’s Timouron Secret Liaison. Lovely black dog. Would benefit from more confidence in the ring, but became more animated on the move. A good stop and well-proportioned head with well set ears. Good spring of rib, short coupled and enough angulation in hind quarters. Correct otter tail. Moved with purpose.


Yearling Dog (4, 1a)

1.Bell’s Westerulston John. Unexaggerated yellow male, combining breed type with class. Kind eyes, good pigment and well set ears on a well proportioned head. Good length and strength of neck. Good spring of rib, well coupled. otter tail. Good turn of stifle and well let down hocks. Presented a clean and balanced picture.

2. Cain’s Hannahbee Applejack. Well constructed and beautifully handled. Enough bone. Good spring of rib. Correct hind angulation with well let down hocks. Good otter like tail. Moved well. 

3. Hallgarth’s Amberstope Gold Label at Chapelmanor (AI).


Novice Dog (1)

Hallgarth’s Amberstope Gold Label at Chapelmanor (AI). Clean lined yellow dog. Typical Labrador expression, alert and keen to please. Strong boned. Good depth of chest and well sprung ribs. Well angulated in hind quarters, and well muscle throughout. Standing fore square and moved ok once settled.


Graduate Dog (4, 2a)

1. Powell’s Seatallan Chilli. Smart, workmanlike dog full of breed type. Appealing head, with correct stop, breadth and well set ears, used to full effect. Kind eyes, fixed on handler. Good strength of neck. Well sprung ribs. Well boned. Short coupled. Great tail, typical of the breed. Well let down hocks. A good showman. 

2. Sadler’s Talifen Gentleman Jack. Keen to please expression. Used ears to full advantage. Well bodied, strong bone. Good turn of stifle and an otter tail. Enthusiastic showman.


Post Graduate Dog (3, 1a)

1.Mulett’s Shaymiloney Schinus Afinmore. Black dog with a broad skull, kind eyes and correct ear placement. Good strength in the neck. Well boned. Deep chest and barrel ribs. Well muscled hind quarters with well let down hocks. Good otter tail. Neat feet. Moved well and showed . 

2. Beckley’s Nordmann At Godruo. Powerful black with a masculine head, good use of ears and an alert and keen to please expression. Good spring of rib & depth of chest. Strong body and very well muscled throughout. 


Limit Dog (7, 2a)

1.Walton’s Gallybob Marmalade. A yellow male, who looked well on move and standing. Kind eye, well placed ears which he used well giving an alert expression. Powerful neck set into well laid shoulders. Well developed ribs with good depth of chest. Short coupled. Good turn of stifle and well let down hocks. A good otter tail. Moved with drive. I was pleased to award him the Reserve CC. 

2. Dawson’s Beskerby Pageant. A handsome yellow with melting expression. Well set ears. Good strength of neck and depth of chest. Well sprung ribs. Correct hind angulation and went well on the move. A tail typical of the breed. Coat lacking on the day.

3. Ellis & Matulla’s Dolwen Stargazer. 


Open Dog (4, 1a)

Not numerically strong but a class full of quality dogs.

1. Douglas’ IR GB Sh Ch Talard See Three Pee Ohh Jun Ch AnCh19. Masculine yellow dog. A handsome strong head. Kind expression. Clean and powerful neck. Well laid shoulder. Good depth of chest and well sprung ribs. Short coupled. Good angulation in hindquarters, with enough turn of stifle and well let down hocks. Good tailset off level topline. Great otter tail. Moved with purpose. I was delighted to award this top class dog the CC.

2. Reynold’s Sh Ch Carromer Chippindale. Another top quality male. Not in his best coat on the day. A handsome yellow dog. A lovely head with kind eyes. A strong neck on well laid shoulders. Good spring of rib, short coupled, level topline, good tailset and correct tail. Moves well. 

3. Williamson’s Sharouns Ventriloquist For Tempaskell JW. 


Veteran Bitch (3)

A spritely class of veteran’s, which is always a pleasure to see.

1.Bell’s Westerulston Nola. A gorgeous black bitch, who I have judged a few times from puppy, now through to veteran. Much of what I have written before still stands, she has maintained her clean outline and is ever the keen show dog. Kind eyes, a feminine head, with good stop and correct ear placement. Good spring of rib, short coupling and good angulation in hind quarters. Maintains topline when standing and on the move. A typical otter tail. Best Veteran.

2. Harris’ Cuerdenlake Pukkai At Shadbudpips. Loved the expression of this black bitch, beautifully Labrador and willing to please. A well-proportioned head and used ears well. Well boned. A good spring of rib and well angulated in hind quarters. Went well on the move. 

3. Threader’s Gulsary Galilahi. 


Minor Puppy Bitch (8, 1a)

1. Thomson’s Strathhunker Gabrielle. A beautiful puppy who caught my eye straight away. Characteristically Labrador in expression, kind eyes, and balanced proportions of the head. Good strength of bone throughout. Well sprung ribs and short coupled. A great otter tail. Handled well and clearly enjoying her time in the ring. Really excited to see what is to come for this one. 

2. Proctor’s Lejie Sugar Almond At Penkaric. A lovely puppy at just 6 months, with lots of potential. A sweet head, with a good ear set. Well boned. Good spring of rib. Well turned stifles. Typical otter tail. Moved and showed with purpose and joy.    

3. Young & Parkes’ Potterzuri Mystic Zena. 


Puppy Bitch (7,1a)

1.Charlton’s Foxrush Joyfull. Another exhibit who grabs your attention instantly. Gorgeous feminine head and a melting expression. Strong bone throughout. Clean and strong neck. Well laid shoulders. Good depth of chest and spring of rib, short coupled and a level topline and tailset finished off with a beautiful otter tail. In good coat. Went well on the move. Best puppy bitch and Best puppy in breed. Really pleased to see her shortlisted in the puppy group.

Junior Bitch (11, 3a)

1.Brambles’ Shaymiloney Silla Black. A smart yellow bitch. Not a big one but beautifully balanced. Willing to please and a keen shower. A feminine head, with lovely eyes and well set ears. Clean neck. Well boned throughout body. Good spring of rib and short in coupling. A well laid down hock. Good otter tail. Moved well. 

2. Mcgillivray’s Antonine She's Like The Wind ( A.I.). A lovely bitch, very focused on owner, which became trickier when a runner moved her. A beautifully Labrador head with kind eyes. Good strength of neck. Deep chest with good spring of rib and short coupled. Strong well let down hocks. An otter like tail. Clean outline. 

3. Milligan’s Balladoole Lucky Dip. 


Yearling (7, 1a)

1. Rowe’s Rochevale Fairytale. A beautiful yellow bitch who was the one to beat on entering the ring and did not disappoint when gone over. Possessing that desirable quality of combining breed type with style and effortless movement. Clean in outline. Kind eye and good pigment. Ears well set and used well. Powerful and clean neck leading onto well laid shoulders. Enough bone. Good spring of rib and short coupled. A level topline and good otter tail. Followed by good turn of stifle and well muscled hind quarters. Moved around the ring covering the ground with ease. I was delighted to award her the bitch CC and later BOB. 

2. Douglas’ Rochevale Cinderella At Baltarram. Sister to number 1, I see. Not in the best coat, but a lovely type. Feminine head and willing to please expression. Well set ears. Well sprung ribs and short coupled. Well let down hocks. An otter like tail.

Novice Bitch (8)

Graduate Bitch (6, 2a)

Percival’s Wynfaul New Years Eve JW. A beautiful black bitch. Kind eyes, well set ears, used to make the most of her expression. Good bone. Good strength in neck and well sprung ribs, with short coupling. Well balanced throughout. Tail typical for the breed and well set. Glided around the ring as one with her handler. 

Powell’s Seatallan Calypso. A smart black bitch. A nice head of good proportions. Enough bone and well muscled. Sufficient front angulation. Good spring of rib and short coupled. Good angulation in hind quarters. 

Cook’s Exelby Court Jester. 




Post Graduate Bitch (10, 2a)

1. Deane’s Abbeystead Glamour At Tanronens. Beautiful yellow bitch so full of quality. Clean outline. Stood beautifully and moved well. Kind eye and well set ears, making for a lovely expression. Enough bone. Well sprung ribs, deep in chest. Short coupled. Well muscled. Not in best coat, but looked a picture still. 

2. Percival’s Wynfaul Dancing Flame JW. Really nice unexaggerated bitch. Good strength of neck, well boned throughout. Good spring of rib and short coupled. Level topline leading onto a correct tail set. Presented to perfection.

3. Baron’s Mariank Vanity Fair At Landebec. 


Limit Bitch (13, 2a) 

A lovely class. 

1.Reynolds’ Carromer Shimmering In Pink JW. A real show girl. Smart standing and did not disappoint when on the move. Feminine head with an kind, alert expression. Clean neck leading into good front angulation. Firm topline and good tailset with a correct ottertail. Well sprung ribs, short coupling. Good turn of stifle. Reserve bitch CC.

 2 .Mcgillivray’s Antonine Sweet Dreams (AI) JW. Kind typically Labrador expression. Good spring of rib and well coupled. Topline level and displaying a typical otter tail. Good turn of stifle. Went well on the move. 

3. Ganney’s Allenies Tampa Bay D'orta For Darrabol.


Open Bitch (6)

Ganney’s Mardas Black Silk JW. A strong black bitch. Well boned. Powerful neck. Good spring of rib and short coupled. Neat feet. Moved soundly and well presented. 

Allen’s Saranden Santee Sioux Timouron. Smart black bitch. Willing to please expression. Clean neck. A good depth of chest and spring of rib, followed by short coupling. Good hind angulation and went well on the move.

Mcgillivray’s Woefdram's American With Antonine (Imp NL).
