Three Counties Agricultural Society

Breed: Spaniel (American Cocker)

A very last minute invitation as the replacement judge for this breed. I very much enjoyed the opportunity of judging your dogs and appreciated the very sportsmanlike way my decisions were accepted. Thank you also to Helen Wayman and her Committee for what was a lovely very well run show.

1st: BEDDING, Miss Hannah & JENNINGS, Mr D k Alibama Now Or Never. I particularly liked this beautifully balanced young dog. Excellent outline. True head with well developed skull. Correct eye shape with well set ears. Neck of good length, leading to clean, well laid shoulder and corresponding return of upper arm. Chest of good depth, just reaching to the elbow. Rib needs to spring a little more but he is only 13 months - this will come. Correct back line sloping slightly towards the tail which is well set. Powerful hindquarters with short rear cannons. Presented in immaculate order and handled to advantage. Moved with great drive on a ground covering stride. BD and RBOB

1st: EDWARDS, Mrs B Afterglow Bang Tidy. Well balanced all through. Good head shape with well set lobular ears. Correct layback of shoulder and deep enough in chest. I would like a little more slope in topline. Scores in hindquarters which are very well muscled. Moved with drive.

1st: NIESSEN, Mrs A Am Ch Rotojet's Roll Call (Imp USA). Excellent overall balance presenting typical breed outline. Good head shape with well defined stop and correct chiselling around the eyes. Strong neck of good length leading to excellent lay of shoulder. Deep chest with good spring of rib. Gently sloping topline. Well angulated hindquarters. In excellent coat and condition. Moved well but not quite the reach and drive of the Junior Dog. However I liked him very much. RBD

1st: EDWARDS, Mrs B Afterglow Dancing Brave Sh.CM. What a credit to his owner. At just over 13 years old this dog certainly belies his years. True head shape with correct earset. Broad muzzle with strong jaw. Good length of neck leading to correct forehand construction. Excellent spring of rib and correct backline. Well made hindquarters which are extremely well muscled. On the move he demonstrated that he could still show the young ones a thing or two. BV.
