Firstly, my thanks to all the exhibitors for such a fabulous entry and the way they greeted my decisions with applause. My thanks to my two super stewards Di and Barbara who kept everything running so smoothly. I had some super dogs to judge and was thrilled with the depth of quality in the breed, I had some very close decisions and could easily have awarded a few green and white cards.

My DCC and Best of Breed came from the star-studded open dog class and was Bennett’s Sh Ch Jesham Baronet, the Dog RCC came from the second in the open class with McDonald-Watt’s Sh Ch Cochen Hocus Pocus of Hurndewin. For my Bitch CC, I selected the open bitch winner Osborn’s Sh Ch Elgert Lady Sta'dust JW, My Bitch RCC was the very exciting youngster Barker’s Nadavin Yirki at Tumblebar. Best Puppy was McBain and Brewer’s Fecimus n'Nautica Whoopie on The Beach IMP USA NAF and my Best Veteran was Moore’s Elgert Sweet Little Lies at Gadhelic.

A smart young man, well balanced with a pleasing head and expression, would like his eye colour a shade darker but that should happen as he matures. Clean reach of neck and shoulders well laid back. Well ribbed up, strong through the loin and level topline. Quarters well developed with good muscle tone. Great coat and condition for his age. Moves out well with a good stride. Handled to advantage.

Nice you man, now two and a half but at the moment lacking in maturity and finish but has bags of potential about him. His head is of good proportions, well chiselled, eyes of good shape which give a typical field expression. Forequarters are well made, shoulder well laid back, legs straight and flat bone. Good depth to chest for his age, ribs springing as they should. Needs to fill his frame but will do that as he matures. Moved out well with a good action. Lots of potential about him, just needs a bit of time to get his finish and complete the picture.

A lot to like about this chap, he has a super outline and presents a balanced picture on the stack. Good head piece on him, balanced proportions, well-shaped eyes that are correctly coloured. Well chiselled all giving a masculine expression. Enough reach of neck, shoulders well laid back and standing on good legs. Good depth of chest and ribs well sprung. Firm level topline, well made quarters with stifles well bent and short from hock to heal. Moved out well with an even gait, presented in top class condition. Pushed the winner hard in the challenge and I am sure he will be taking top honours very soon.

2nd: 7778 SHIPTON, Mrs S Broomeece Firecracker Over Mishules

Another good one with plenty of breed type about him. I liked his head and expression which was masculine, good eye shape and colour. Neck good into a good lay back of shoulder. Depth to chest and firm in loin, quarters well developed with moderately bent stifles. Didn’t hold shape on the move today and a tad close behind. Presented in super coat and condition.

What a fabulous class this was, some top-class exhibits, it really made me think. It was a privilege to judge; I am sure that these boys will change place many times in the future.

1st: 7751 BENNETT, Mr D A & Mrs J Sh Ch Jesham Baronet

What a super dog this is everything is in the right place and of the correct proportion, his crowning glory is his movement which was the best on the day. To me he is a good honest Field, I thought he had a super head piece, well chiselled and with good eye colour, certainly has that air of nobility about him. Good length of neck, sitting neatly into well placed shoulders. Good angulation and stands on well boned legs, and good tight feet. His body is well made, he has good depth of chest and is well ribbed up. Moderately angulated quarters, stifles well bent, and hocks well let down. In great coat and condition. He moved out with drive and purpose to take the class and later CC and BOB.

2nd: 7772 MCDONALD-WATTS, Mr Duncan Robert Sh Ch Cochen Hocus Pocus of Hurndewin

Another very smart black dog, totally new one to me, he has everything in the right place. Five years old and really in his prime. Another with a very typical field head and expression. Good through the neck, well angulated at both ends. He is well proportioned with ribs well sprung and strong in loin. Well developed in quarters, with stifles well bent. Stands on good legs. Scored in profile movement, just not quite as accurate in front action as the winner which was the deciding factor. A top-class dog who I was pleased to award the RCC today, not surprised to see he has his title.

2nd: 7757 ELLIOTT, Ms M Elgert Break Every Rule at Portsoy

A smart dog who I thought would head this class but he managed to straighten all his angles out on the stack and just totally lost his shape. I liked his overall type, his head is masculine with a good eye, his markings can make his head look narrow, but it is not. Good lay back of shoulder but would like a shade more return of forearm. Legs well boned and tight feet. Good body proportions, ribs well sprung and quarters moderately angulated. Moved out very well with plenty of drive. In good coat and condition.

1st: 7770 MACBAIN, Miss Allie & BREWER, Ms Danielle Fecimus n'Nautica Whoopie On The Beach IMP USA NAF

Young liver bitch who was just 8 months old. Head is pleasing, plenty of work in it so should finish well. Good front assembly on her, shoulders well placed and standing on good legs with flat bone. Body of good proportion, ribs springing nicely and firm through the loin. Quarters well made; stifles moderately bent. Sound on the move but needs to find her feet to complete the picture.

2nd: 7780 SMITH, Mrs Paula Beautilicous Donna

Another lovely puppy with bags of potential but giving a lot away to the winner in maturity and finish. Her head is very pleasing, well-proportioned, eye of good almond shape, ears set on low all giving a pretty expression. Clean reach of neck and shoulder well set. Legs well boned and body of good proportions, decent quarters with stifles well bent. Moved out well, just needs a bit of time and should finish nicely.

1st: 7748 BARKER, Ms Elizabeth Nadavin Yirki at Tumblebar

This lady was my find of the day and such a typy bitch. I love her head piece, so elegant with that touch of nobility. Super shape and proportions, her eyes are correctly shaped and have a pleasing colour, she has defined chiselling which enhances her classic expression. Good reach of neck into shoulders which are well laid. Good legs, well boned and tight feet. Enough depth of chest and good spring of rib, firm back, strong quarters with stifles moderately bent, hocks well let down. Scored in movement over the second with accuracy of footfall. I thought her really typical and in the challenge I thought she had something special about her. Not quite as fluid at the open winner which was the deciding factor, was very close to top honours which I am sure will not be far away, today my RCC winner.

2nd: 7781 STONE, Mrs Deborah Lee & STONE, Mr Martin & STONE, Sonnetend Kiss Me Kate

Really like this black bitch on the stack, she pulls into a super shape and her handler really got the best out of her, but she just wouldn’t play ball on the move and lost her outline, I don’t think she liked the floor. Her head is well shaped giving that typical noble field expression. Long neck into shoulders which are well laid, standing on straight legs with flat bone. I would like a little more forechest, but that should well come as she matures. Decent spring of rib and good length of back. Stifles have a moderate bend to them. For me today would have liked her to be a little more accurate in footfall.

Worthy winner of the class, she is feminine and presents a clean and balanced outline. Her head is pretty, with a kind eye to give a feminine expression. Clean neck into shoulder, standing on well boned legs and tight feet. Needs to drop into her front and tighten in elbow. Body of balanced proportions. Quarters well developed with well bent stifles. Moved around the ring with ease. Just needs to mature up in body to complete the picture.

2nd: 7758 ENGLISH, Mrs Sally Sonnetend Wake Up and Dream at Wireduck

This lady could have easily won the class but just would not play ball today which was a shame. I loved her on the stack and thought she would be the winner. She has the loveliest outline. Her head is well-proportioned and she has a kind expression with a super eye. Clean neck into shoulders with good angulation, standing on well boned legs. Body well made, enough spring of rib, level topline and super quarters on her, stifles well bent. Coat was gleaming. She just didn’t like the floor and would not move with any enthusiasm and that cost her the class.

Now this was a top class exhibit she has a super clean outline, feminine with substance & yet an elegant side to her. She has an attractive head & expression enhanced by defined chiselling under the eyes. Clean reach of neck which led into correctly placed shoulders and a good return of upper arm. Standing on good well boned legs and tight feet. Correct depth to her forechest & ribs well sprung. Firm through the loin. Super quarters which are well developed, in super coat & condition. She excelled on the move with super footfall and the correct amount of drive. I could not deny her today, delighted to award her Bitch CC.

2nd: 7764 HOLGATE, Mrs Jill & HOLGATE, Mr Charles Sh Ch Nadavin Exclusive JW

I liked this lady on the stack as she has super outline and balance about her. She has a good action on the move and footfall. Head was pleasing, good overall shape and an appealing expression. Clean neck into shoulder, which were well placed. Well boned legs with the correct flat bone. Still needs to drop into her front and her ribs need to spring but she is still young and has plenty of time to do that. Quarters are well developed with moderately bent stifles. Not surprised to see she already has her title. For me today she just lacked a little finish against the winner, once she gets that I think she will collect a lot of green and white cards.
