Border Union Agricultural Society

Breed: Dobermann

Border Union June 2022

I would like to thank the Officers and Committee for the invitation to judge Dobermanns at their 2022 championship show. I would also like to thank all the exhibitors for entering during these challenging times, and the sporting manner shown during and after the show. In general UK Dobermann’s are in quite good shape, although, heads and forequarters are still disappointing.

Minor Puppy Dog

1st Place Tuwos Mr Bombastic RAF NAF (Mr W Henderson)

Super smart puppy. Presents a pleasing picture in profile, blunt wedge-shaped head, with parallel planes, long lean neck, super short firm top line and correct tail set. Hindquarters are faultless, well filled croup for a youngster, long well bent stifle, and super strong hocks. Moved well with powerful rear drive. I’m sure he will have a bright future.

2nd Place Tuwos Mr Majestik Vonsallate (Mr G & Miss M Hunt & Flitcroft)

Litter brother to the class winner with similar attributes, slightly stronger head and little more bone and substance. He had trouble settling on the move. Again, this puppy will go a long way once he settles.

Open Dog

1st Place Amazon Pure Russian JW (Mr C & Ms D Evans & Butler)

Very strong class of quality males, all with great attributes. I was looking for something special from the class winner. The final winner who I have judged before as a youngster didn’t disappoint. He has matured into a strong well-balanced male, super conformation, although, it was his ring presence and excellent movement that won me over, he powered round the ring with super reach and drive. No hesitation in rewarding him his crowning CC.

 2nd Place Ch Korifey Vanquish (Mrs A L & Ms I Jones & Ushakova)

This male is superb in profile, great example of today’s modern Dobermann. Super wedge-shaped head, to be critical, would prefer marginally stronger, level planes, deep under jaw, his neck is lean and strong leading into a short firm top line. Turned out in hard well-muscled condition, handled flawlessly, very precise yet still allows his presence and character to shine through. He moved well straight and true.
