National Working & Pastoral Breeds Society

Breed: Hungarian Puli

This was my first-time awarding CCs, and I very much enjoyed my day. Thank you to everyone who entered, although not strong numerically, I had some nice quality here today. My thanks as well go to the society, who helped make sure the day felt as special as it was. Finally, my 2 stewards who were very organised and friendly.

I was very happy at the end to see my 2 CC winners together; both are excellent examples of the breed and ones I would love to own. They looked great together. It was close between the 2 for BOB, the bitch just upped her game in the challenge and made it so I couldn’t look anywhere else.

All the dogs entered today were presented well and had great temperaments. It was nice to have several youngsters who I feel will have good futures as they mature. A couple of things I picked in the entry to look out for are movement and heads. Some lacked in muscle, especially in rear. They should be well muscled; this will help improve movement in some. Heads were mixed, some were too small and narrow muzzles were evident in some. To pick out some more positives, pigment was good and overall, all were of the correct outline.

Class 521 PD (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 1461 KEELING, Miss Karen Montydom White Riot in Wisley

11 months, promising white male. Correct square shape with neck blending into body. Head of acceptable proportions, dark eye, excellent pigment to mouth. Found him to be reasonably balanced in construction, he is a little narrow in front at present, but he is very young and has a lot of maturing to do. He is sound in all directions on the move. His coat his well-maintained. He lacks a bit of confidence, which is where the bitch pipped him to BP.

Class 522 JD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 1458 CROWTHER, Mr Ian Hope Porgeloci Tajtek At Catsun

13 months black. Super type, size, and shape. He has a very nice head, masculine without being too big and nicely proportioned. In body he is well developed for his age. Moderate angulation front and rear, which showed in his equally moderate and balanced movement in all directions. Excellent pigment all through. A bit more firming up to do in body, which is to be expected at this age. Coat is in very good order, and he was well presented. I liked him a lot and that’s why today he was my RDCC.

2nd: 1450 CASEY, Miss Victoria & MOORE, Mr James SILKATA WILL SEA

16 months black. Another nice young male, smaller than 1 but appealed for shape and balance. He is very compact in outline and found the same upon examination. He displays a brisk, short stepping action, but today he didn’t want to carry his tail. Another who I found to be nicely balanced in angulation. His head is in proportion to his overall size. His coat is in good order.

Class 523 PGD (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 1463 ROBSON, Mrs Karen Hungarian White Rasta Eber IMP HUNG

4-year-old white, presented in very good condition. He has a pleasing square outline. Head I found to be acceptable in proportions, I would prefer darker pigment. Deep enough chest and good spring of rib. He is moderate in angulation. He moves a little wide coming toward but sound going away. In profile, he is sound, but he isn’t as fluid as others in the line up and can be a bit erratic.

Class 524 LD NO ENTRIES

Class 525 OD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

A difficult decision between these 2 dogs, very different in type and could swap places on another day.

1st: 1464 SHARPE, Miss Nicola & DYER, Mr Mark Catsun Comanche Legacy

5-year black male. Has matured well since I last judged him. Won this class on more breed typical features. He has an appealing head for size and proportions, excellent pigment. I thought he scored highly for front construction. He has good depth of chest, short loin. His coat is in excellent condition. In the class, he moved well, showing a typical lively short stepping action with good drive. In the challenge, he didn’t seem as interested in moving, dipping his head very low, this meant he lost his shape on the move and it affected his top line.

2nd: 1459 GILBERT, Mrs P Silkata Howay Hugo With Gandaki

5-year-old grey male. There is a lot to like about this dog, there is no doubting he is male, which I say as a positive comment. He has a lovely square outline, he is very balanced and excels on the move, showing a clean, driving action. He has a strong neck and is in good body condition. Although he is a larger male, his head I still feel is a bit too strong and I would prefer a little finer bone.

Class 526 VD (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 1453 COWLEY, Mrs and Mr LJ and KD Ch Callendu Despicable Me At Kashbeluli Sh.CM ShCEX

8 ½ yr black male. I have awarded this dog highly before and my opinion of him hasn’t changed, in fact today is probably the best he has moved under me. He is of ideal size and build for a male and of a lovely type overall. Stood, he is of a super shape. To go over he is balanced in front and rear, and he is in very good body condition. He has an excellent head for size and proportions. Watching him move, he maintains his shape and topline as he goes round the ring, he has a very good clean driving action, with just the right amount of reach. He stood out today to win the CC, BOS and BV.

Class 527 SBD/B (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 1462 NEO, Miss Charlene King of Meadows Ariel (Imp Serb) TAF

9 months white. Lovely puppy who is very pretty and she knows it. She is of a good type with a correct, square outline. Excellent pigment. Nicely proportioned head, muzzle though is a little narrow. Fairly balanced in angulation. If I am critical, she is a little high stepping, but she has a lot of developing to do and firming up, this could improve. She shows a lot of promise and was very nicely presented. BSB and BP.

1st: 1451 CLARKE, Mr Darren & DUFFY, Mr James PORGELOCI BOBE AT PELUCHE (IMP HUN)

2 ½ year-old black. Excellent type. Just the right balance of size, substance, and femininity. She presents a correct, square outline and is presented immaculately. Correct head proportions, excellent pigment. Strong neck leading into well laid shoulders. Good depth of chest, short loin. Rear angulation is balanced with front. She moved very typically, not far reaching, and brisk. She is a super Puli and still young, surely will continue with the success she’s already having for some time to come. CC and BOB.

2nd: 1460 HENSHAW, Mr Andrew Ch MAGIKUS BELATRIX BLACK

6-year-old black. A worthy champion. She is a nice type, but smaller than 1 all through. She is a lovely shape. Her head is excellent for proportions. She also is very feminine. On the move she displays a quick, short stepping action and is sound in all directions. Has a great rapport with her owner/handler and another who is very nicely presented. RBCC.

Class 533 VB (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 1454 COWLEY, Mrs and Mr LJ and KD Somogyi Betyar Bodza At Kashbeluli (Imp)

7-year-old black of good type. Lovely outline with strong, medium length neck blending into body. Head proportions are good, but she is a little narrow in muzzle. She is small all way through, and I would prefer a bit more of her all round. She has excellent pigment. Moved well today, sound in all directions and has short stepping action.
