RETRIEVER (FLAT COATED)

May I thank the society for inviting me to judge Flat coated Retrievers I have had the honour of judging them at the World Dog Show, European Winners Show and many other Retriever Specialties and International shows all over Europe it was nice to be asked to judge them in the UK.

Thank you to my steward who kept the whole proceedings flowing he did a great job also thankyou to the exhibitors for giving me a fantastic entry I believe among one of the biggest this year and again thank you to the exhibitors for taking my decisions so sportingly.

In general the depth of quality lay in the bitches particularly the limit and open classes some of these quality bitches will change places another day, in males the open dog class stood out.

 I found to many level bites and front construction an issue many exhibits lacking return of upper arm weak hocks which reflected in poor movement. Those exhibits that moved were rewarded.

Wilds Bitcon Alliance with Bluewaters another quality puppy not as mature as one just needs more time has plenty of bone a well-balanced outline good reach of neck nice head well angulated fore and hindquarters level top line good depth of chest not as confident as 1 on the move.3.Cambell & Browns Ronevorg Firefly Fantasy

JD(5/1) Gloi Dubh Kristofer Robin pleasing balanced out line good reach of neck flowing into well placed shoulders tight elbows would have liked tighter feet plenty of depth in chest good top line and tail set covered the ground well reaching out and driving from behind. 2 Nicholls & Prices Llantrussa As Big As The Ritz. Liver boy a lot to like pleasing balanced out line good head qualities nice reach of neck plenty of depth good spring of rib good top line and tail set moved well. 3. GD(2/0) 1.Campbell & Browns Ronevorg Angel Wiv Attitude balanced outline masculine head good reach of neck good fore and hind quarters plenty depth correct tail set moved well driving from behind just loosing his top line on the move. 2. Brights Hopevalley Morning Phantom a lot to like balanced outline pleasing head good reach of neck well angulated quarters plenty of depth to chest level top line that he kept on the move preferred ones better hind action.

PGD(5/0) Walker & Roberts Gloi Dubh Just One Look won this class on his sound movement clean balanced out line good head well angulated fore and hindquarters good depth of chest level top line moved with drive true in front and good hind action. 2Pingrees Calzeat Gentlemans Agreement to Heatherridge clean pleasing balanced out line nice reach of neck needs more upper arm good top line and tail set well angulated hind quarters moved ok. 3. LD(7/0) Staffs Bonnyhillbrae Royal Flush he won this class on his sound movement reaching and driving action and level top line that he kept on the move. Balanced out line pleasing head good reach of neck well angulated fore and hind quarters plenty of depth to chest tight front and tight feet.2 Moons Llantrussa Sorrento Moon a lot of the qualities of one pleasing outline well angulated quarters good top line preferred the driving hind action of one never the less a quality sound dog.3. OD(7/0) 1.Armstrongs SH CH Bitcon Magic Marker Quality male not as clean in outline as two but won this class on his accurate sound movement powering round the ring reaching and driving with true accurate front and rear action with lashing correct tail carriage pleased to award him the CC. 2.Hollands SHCH Flatcharm Mr Brightside another quality dog unfortunate to meet one today but will easily swap placings on another day. Clean balanced out line masculine head on to long clean neck correct shoulders plenty of depth good top line and tail set well angulated hind quarters powered round the ring presented and shown to perfection preferred ones tail carriage couldn’t deny him the RES CC.3. LB(13/3) Super class of quality bitches 1.Phipps-Baker & Baker Never Say Never Oasis of Peace to Maddouse quality bitch shown to perfection by her handler powered round the ring with reach and drive using her hocks to drive balanced out line plenty of depth level top line correct tail set and tail action really considered her for top honours but her day will come. 2. Gales Willowswind Nette Lark another quality bitch close decision between these two again handled to perfection owning the ring balanced out line good head correct front and hind assembly plenty of depth good top line and tail set. 3. Andersons Feldkirk Dior of Kazval super bitch gleaming in great coat hard condition commanding your attention not over exaggerated in any way clean balanced out line she didn’t disappoint on the move covered the ground effortlessly with style driving and powering round the ring she couldn’t be denied CC BOB and I believe BIS3. 2. Morrisons GCHG CH Ironwood Be Quick or Be Dead beautiful bitch shown to perfection in hard condition covered the ground effortlessly balanced outline correct front and hind assembly so sound on the go around reaching and driving with the correct slashing tail loved her RES CC. 3.
