East Of England Agricultural Society

East Of England Agricultural Society Open Show 7th July 2021.

I’d like to thank the committee for my appointment and putting on a lovely show despite restrictions. Thank you to my wonderful steward who battled the breeze and additional responsibilities and to the exhibitors who allowed me to go over some lovely examples of the breeds, with some close decisions and good sportsmanship.

BEARDED COLLIE

Puppy 4 (0)

1) Jones’ Clanwillow Amazing Grace. 8 month old bitch. Sweet feminine girl with a cheeky expression, super overall balance, well laid shoulder with correct angulation both front and rear. She moved effortlessly around the ring in harmony with her handler. BP and PG3

2) Lewis’ Potterdale Plus One. 9 month old bitch. Flashier and bigger in type than 1. Nicely proportioned head with strong pigment and a lovely dark eye. A raw baby with a good overall shape and nicely balanced in profile when settled. On the move she presents a steady picture with good front reach.

3) Beech’s Dychix Never Ending Story.

Junior 4 (1)

1) Brooks & Grundy’s Fraglestone Family Affair. 16 month old dog. Impressive young slate with a good masculine head, dreamy expression, nice length of neck leading to well-placed shoulder. Lovely depth of chest, long ribcage and short, strong loin leading into a well-muscled rear with low hocks. Nicely angulated, he moved with reach and drive whilst sympathetically handled to get the most out of him. RBB

2) Salmon’s Potterdale Heritage. 16 month old slate dog. Nicely constructed and shows a sound profile. Smaller in frame than 1. Good head shape, correct bite, lovely expression. Good deep chest, well angulated front and back. Nice texture to coat and in good condition. Moved out well just didn’t have the overall presence of my class winner.

Post Graduate 4 (1)

1) Dumbrell’s Brodaty Limited Edition at Bethlyntee. 2 year old brown dog. My notes say stunning head, strongly made of all correct proportions, correct pigment, dentition and strong jaw to match. Depth of chest, shoulder placement, length of rib and short loin all in the right proportions. He is at the change of coat stage but if anything, shows his movement wonderfully with nothing to hide. Covered the ground with long but light, far reaching strides which could not deny him the class.

2) Richardson’s Firstprizebears Sanfrancisco At Caramac (IMP BEL). 20 months bitch. Very feminine girl with a pleasing head, eye toning to coat, good dentition and pigment. Lovely length of neck which flows into well placed shoulder and depth of chest. Good length of rib, holding a strong topline with pleasing rear angulation to match her front, enabled her to show a balanced outline when settled on the move.

Open 5 (1)

1) Richard’s Kilfinan Country Shadow at Elemark JW ShCM. 9 year old bitch. Slate of an old-fashioned breed type, full of lovely qualities and a pleasure to go over. Feminine head, correct dentition and pigment with a beautiful expression through dark eyes. Her overall shape was balanced throughout, nicely arched neck, good shoulder placement and depth of chest. Solid topline, nice length of rib and short loin and nicely muscled thighs. She came into her own on the move - light, smooth and far reaching, she looked like she could have easily done a day’s work which based my decision for BOB and later to take Grp3

2) Salmon’s Potterdale Piper. 3 year old dog. Impressive slate with correct head proportions, pigment and dentition combined with a dark eye and kind expression. Good length of neck leading into correct chest and shoulder placement. Solid topline which showed a strong profile on the stand and beautifully presented. Rear angulation to match front and in fit condition. He moved out well and got better as the class progressed, just did not have the drive and length of stride that he usually does today.

3) Wood’s Pepperjay Bartholomew.
