THE CANADIAN ESKIMO DOG CLUB OF GREAT BRITAIN

03 JULY 2021

As Patron of The Canadian Eskimo Dog Club of Great Britain, it was an absolute honour to judge their Open show on 03 July 2021 with in excess of 75 dogs present to participate both in the Open show and the various stakes classes. The Canadian Eskimo Dog Club of Great Britain led by their Committee have made tremendous strides of late and the organisation for this event was absolutely superb. For my part at the Open show I had 60 dogs entered and 50 dogs judged. Some general comments I would like to make are that the breed now, by dint of the numbers and breeding programmes, is showing a very distinctive type which is extremely good news and it is a type of good quality with virtually all the dogs demonstrating excellent movement, very typical of working sled dogs. On the down side, alas, the actual handling of the dogs leaves a little bit to benefit from practise, however the physical presentation was, by and large, very good, clearly at this time of year some dogs lacked a little coat however most importantly the temperament of all exhibits was excellent and the mouths were all exactly as they should be, correct scissor bite.

VETERAN DOG 4(1)

1. AKNA KUNIK. Good overall balance, good bone, won the class on his free, ground covering gait. Good coat, good feet, nice pasterns.

2. AKNA MORZINE. Good head and expression, nice overall angulation, not quite the reach and drive of 1.

3. AKNA CARROZ.

JUNIOR DOG 2(1)

1. QIMUGTA JUDAS BY AKNA. A super junior male, excellent head, high set ears, good angulation, strong top-line, good feet and pasterns, good coat and condition, excellent ground covering gait. A top quality prospect, BD & BIS.

POST GRADUATE DOG 7(0)

1. AAA VOYAGEUR QIMMIQ PANDA AT XORKANI (IMP CAN). Won the class on his overall balance and angulation, absolutely sound coming and going, shown in good coat and condition.

2. AKNA TUMNUS. Again, a well angulated dog, good head, not quite as tidy as 1 on the out and back but moved with an efficient gait.

3. AKNA MAUGRIM.

LIMIT DOG 7(0)

Both the first 2 were excellent movers, I just preferred number 1 which had the more efficient gait.

1. QIMUGTA WINSTON AT CHILLIPAWS. Good overall proportions, nice bone, correct feet and pasterns.

2. QIMUGTA GARNET AT SNOQUALMIE. Good 5 year old, absolutely true on the move, good masculine head and expression.

3. GERFREKI KING OF FAIRIES.

OPEN DOG 9(0)

1. CAN GR CH ARTICICE QIMMIQ G AMORAK AVEC AKNA (IMP CAN) (ShCM). Won the class on his true movement on the out and back and as a veteran a wonderful example of the breed, super masculine head, correct bone, good feet, his coat lacked a little bit of condition on the day but this dog, who I have judged on a number of occasions, has nothing left to prove, RBD & BVIS.

2. PL NL CH ARCTICICE QIMMIQ TLUN AT CHILLIPAWS (IMP CAN). Preferred the head of the 2nd dog who has an excellent neck, shoulder and front construction and was shown in perfect coat and condition. On the move, however, he was just not as tidy with his back end on the out and back as 1.

3. HR CH AKNA KING PEAK.

VETERAN BITCH 4(1)

1. CAN CH AKNA ASAVAKKIT. Shown in excellent coat and condition, absolutely sound ground covering gait.

2. AKNA NORTHERN SOUL. 9 year old female, good feminine head, balanced angulation and thoroughly enjoyed her day out!

3. ARCTICICE QIMMIQ ANANA AT AKNA.

PUPPY BITCH 2(0)

Two very nice puppies, 1 just moved better on the day.

1. SNOQUALMIE DESTINY. Good feminine head and expression, high set ears, good bone and balanced angulation, BPIS.

2. AKNA CORDILLERA. This is another excellent prospect and with a little more practise she would be able to show herself off to advantage. Lovely head and expression, well angulated front and rear.

JUNIOR BITCH 5(3)

1. ASIAQ QUEEN FABIOLA. She took the class on her excellent gait. Nice feminine head, well angulated, correct feet, good bone, shown in good coat.

2. AKNA VOORHEES. Good feminine head, more refined in type than 1, moderate but balanced angulation, not quite the reach and drive of 1.

3. ASIAQ VALKERY FOR AKNA.

POST GRADUATE BITCH 8(3)

1. QIMUGTA HARPIST. Super bitch, nice head and expression, well set ears, good powerful shoulders, strong top-line, easy ground covering gait.

2. AKNA MALIK. A nice bitch with good angulation, level top-line, moved with precision and shown in nice coat.

3. AKNA ALPINE BEARBERRY.

LIMIT BITCH 5(1) (w/d 1)

1. QIMUGTA FLAME IN AKNA. Balanced moderate angulation, nice reach of neck, correct oval bone, good feet and an easy gait.

2. KODIAK FERME DE PRAFOND AVEC AKNA. Correct head, good overall balance, good coat and condition.

3, AKNA NUTIOC.

OPEN BITCH 7(0)

This was a very strong class which of course is particularly good for the Breed by large but virtually all these exhibits displayed very sound and typical movement for a working sled dog.

1. AKNA NYMPH. Very nice female shown in excellent coat and condition, absolutely sound on the move, nice bone, good feet, well handled and presented, BB & RBIS.

2. AKNA ARCHANGEL WITH INNUGATI. Slightly more compact in type than 1, but absolutely sound and a super feminine head, a lovely example of the breed and pushed number 1 very close on the day, RBB.

3. AKNA DALE.
