Golden Retrievers

Thank you to the committee for the invitation & to all the exhibitors for giving me a nice entry. As expected, temperament was excellent with a high standard of presentation and handling.

Marvellous new venue at an equestrian village & we were blessed with a dry day for this outdoor show.

PD (4,1) Two impressive dogs headed this class, with movement being the deciding factor. 1. Clunie’s Warrentor Bold As Brass. Loved the overall balanced appearance, attractive masculine head with dark pigment & eye. Straight front legs with cat like feet, good reach of neck, well laid back shoulders & correct return of upper arm, level topline standing and on the move. Short coupled, with strong rear quarters which enabled him to move with drive around the ring. Very happy boy with a correct tail carriage, rich golden coat. Shown to advantage on a loose lead. Still a baby at 10 months & therefore still a bit loose in movement but no hesitation in awarding him BD. Should have a bright future. 2. Pounds-Longhurst’s Mossburn Galloping Major. Larger frame, outstanding profile, gorgeous masculine head, dark pigment & eye, deep chest, ample bone, excels in angulation. Pale gold. Unfortunately, not the rear drive I was looking for today. 3. Wheeldon & Hurry’s Catnnels Greatest Dancer.

JD (3,2) 1. Riley’s Wylloh Lost In Translation. Good head, with dark pigment & eye, soft expression. Correct front assembly, plenty bone & second thigh. Shown in a well-presented pale gold coat. Very happy boy, moved with enthusiasm around the ring.

SYD (4,2) 1. Riley’s Wylloh Lost In Translation. 2. Archer’s Haydengold Time To Shine For Sunandair. Longer cast than 1. Attractive masculine head with dark pigment & eye. Straight front legs with good feet, level topline. Correct rear assembly. Blonde coat. Another happy boy who moved with enthusiasm around the ring. Slightly proud of his tail today.

LD (3,1) 1. Kinchella’s Honeymill Elder Warrior. Smaller frame with no exaggerations, very pleasing outline, good bone, well angulated throughout. Pleasant head, dark eye & pigment, correct topline, rich dark gold coat. Moved very well around the ring. 2. Riley’s Wylloh Lost In Translation.

OD (3,1) Trinder’s Thornywait Ruffino. Very impressive balanced profile, masculine head & soft expression, dark eye & pigment, well off for bone, correct feet, good depth of chest, well placed shoulders, short coupled, good width of second thigh. Mid gold coat. Really liked this boy but sadly not moving at his best today. RBD 2. Riley’s Wylloh Lost In Translation.

PB (7,4) Three nice puppies with lots of potential. 1. Pounds-Longhurst’s Mossburn Golly Miss Molly. The more I looked and moved this young lady, the more I liked her. Balanced profile, mid gold coat. lovely very sweet feminine head with dark eye & pigment. Straight front & lovely feet, clean strong neck, nicely laid back shoulders & correct return of upper arm. Topline fine for her age, well-made rear assembly, straight rear pasterns. Moved well front & rear, moving smoothly around the ring. Should have a first-class future. BP, RBB & RBOB. 2. Wheeldon & Hurry’s Catnnels Getting Jiggy. Very much a baby in appearance & movement. Mid gold, happy girl, another lovely very sweet feminine head with dark eye & pigment. Well angulated, short coupled with a balanced outline. Moved well for her age. 3. Clunie’s Warrentor Second To None.

JB (5,3) 1. O’Gorman’s Berrymeade Love Her Madly. One I have previously admired from the ringside. Animated with lots of ring presence, free standing, balanced profile, attractive feminine head with a dark eye & pigment, clean neck, correct bone, nicely made throughout. Rich dark coat. Well handled. Ticked all the boxes for me & my first impression was that I had found my star of the day. However, lost out on movement in the challenge for best bitch today. 2. Turner’s Amilone Pinkster (AI). Appeared distracted today. Longer cast than 1. Very attractive head, soft expression, dark eye & pigment. Slightly short of coat, pleasant outline, correct front angulation, moved okay.

SYB (6,4) 1. O’Gorman’s Berrymeade Love Her Madly. 2. List’s Haydengold Time To Remember. Sadly, unsettled today & not showing at her best. Longer cast than 1. Attractive profile, feminine head with a dark eye, clean neck, correct bone, well angulated front, good width of second thigh. Rich dark coat. Moved okay.

LB (4,2) 1. Trinder’s Thornywait Lunetta. Fabulous in profile, stunning dark gold coat. Happy girl with a lovely head & kind expression, dark eye & pigment. Excellent bone & feet, strong clean neck, good depth of chest, balanced throughout with correct front and rear angulation. Level topline standing & on the move. Another I admired but lost out on movement in the challenge for best bitch. 2. Wood’s Alibren Summer Moon Of Lebuinus. Balanced, smaller framed, happy girl with an attractive mid gold coat, pleasant head with a dark eye, nice front angulation. Would prefer a stronger topline.

OB (7,3) 1. List’s Haydengold Rumour Has It (JW). Quality bitch, now in her prime at nearly 4. Longer cast than the other main contenders for the top honours today. Best mover amongst the contenders, moved around the ring with easy strides and drive. Very striking profile, attractive feminine head with a dark eye & pigment, strong neck, well laid back shoulders & correct return of upper arm, straight legs with correct feet. Excellent depth of chest, level topline standing & moving. Good width of second thigh with straight rear pasterns. Expertly handled. BB & BOB. 2. Turner’s Grain Of Gold Arwen Of Amilone (IMP SWE). One of my favourites today, 8-year-old, looking very majestic in the sun, a pleasure to judge her. A lovely shaped bitch of good size, attractive light gold coat, gorgeous head with a dark eye. Correct bone & feet, nicely made throughout. Moved very well. 3. Pounds-Longhurst’s Rosgar Dolly O’Dare Among Mossburn.
