Critique for Clacton & District Canine Society 2021

Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge their limited show. After the postponements and cancellations of 2020 we finally got there. Congratulations for putting on a show in the current climate and thankyou to the exhibitors for entering. I hope you had an enjoyable day.

Some lovely dogs in the lineup for Best In Show and from them the super Lhasa Apso stood out. Looking a picture today, well presented and handled she owned the ring.

RBIS went to the Bouvier des Flandres, a lovely compact bitch, super on the move.

BPIS was the French Bulldog. Loved his outline and attitude on the move.

RBPIS was the Siberian Husky. A well presented, typey dog so clean on the move.

Best Veteran was a super Shetland Sheepdog. Loved her size and shape and still one of the best movers.

1st Baxter’s Clanciarrai Pecker Dunne – Kerry Blue Terrier. A very enthusiastic young man, full of life and presenting a nice outlie on the stand. Long lean head with dark eyes and plenty of furnishings. Straight front with good bone. Correct spring and depth of rib. Level topline into a high set tail carried well. Good rear angles. Difficult to assess his movement as he was not cooperating with his handler, settled a little in the 2nd class. Best Terrier Puppy

1st Kennedy’s Mr Emerald Tease Murphy – Border Terrier. 3yr D. Well build D of good size and shape. Good breadth of skull and nice dark eyes. Well made forequarters and straight front. Ribs a little too well sprung but of good depth. Good rear angles, correct tailset and a lovely jacket. Moved true from all angles.

1st Burrage’s Sametova Bacary – Cesky Terrier. 2yr Grey D. Loved this boy for his shape and size. Lovely head, good proportions and well set ears. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders and good spring of rib. Topline rising over the loin to a broad muscular rear. A true brisk mover with plenty of drive and attitude. Best Terrier
2nd Morrison’s Verumamicus Astraea – Skye Terrier. 3yr B. Nice outline, perhaps could be a little longer. Well made throughout with a level topline. Carrying a nice coat. Lovely to watch on the move, true coming and going with good drive.

1st Reeves’ Veredon A Bit Valuable at Chrispan – Whippet. 15mth Light Brindle D. Nice size and shape. Very inquisitive and easily distracted by whats going on around him. Head long and lean with a flat skull and well set ears. Clean neck into straight front, good depth and spring of rib. Correct top and underline with defined tuck up. Broad well muscled rear. Rather lethargic on the move, true fore and aft but lacked reach and drive today.

1st Bishop’s Jamar Ina The Countessa – Basset Griffon Vendeen (Petit). A sassy 2yr B, full of mischief. Lovely shape when stacked correctly, Nice head and expression, dark eyes and well set ears. Well laid shoulders over well sprung ribs, good forechest and depth of rib. Good angles to the rear. Moved free with attitude and good reach and drive. Best Hound
2nd Thompson’s Black Buttons Sweat Heart – Miniature Smooth Dachshund. 5yr B, Good shape to head and body. Well made front with well laid shoulders and return of upper arm and pronounced keel. Correct proportions to rib and loin. Lovely round rear. Moved well.

1st Lockyear & Price’s Ronchanelli Welcome News – Whippet. 5yr Brindle D. Good size and shape. Pleasing head of good shape & dark eyes. Clean neck into well laid shoulders. Well sprung ribs with good depth. Stands and moves a little wide in front. Good rear angles, moved well behind with some drive.

1st Timms & Henderson’s Olijah Cut To The Chase – French Bulldog. 9mth D. Loved his outline, super head with well defined stop and a little length to muzzle, well set ears, correct eyes. Powerful neck to well laid shoulders over broad, deep, well sprung ribs. Nice waist through to well muscled rear. Moved true & free with plenty of attitude. Best Utility Puppy
2nd Timms & Henderson’s Olijah Total Knockout – French Bulldog. Litter brother to 1. Another super youngster. More of an ‘old fashioned’ type, heavier all through. Well made fore and aft and another true sound mover.
3rd McCoy’s Rosebulls Ice Ice Baby– Bulldog.
Res Beckson’s Daycomio Royal Winner NAF – Miniature Schnauzer.

1st Buckles’ Silgarhi O’Yangchen at Karshok – Tibetan Terrier. 4yrs. Very pretty feminine B of good shape. Dark eyes, well made forequarters with straight front. Good depth of chest and correct spring of rib. Not over coated, moved true with drive.
2nd Leaver’s Fengolas Diki Bowmore at Shogandale - Lhasa Apso. 19mth D. Gorgeous boy, a little uncertain on the table today which cost him his place. Super head with dark eyes. Well made fore and aft and a lovely mover.
3rd Crawford’s Silgarhi O,De Che at Nytechorus - Tibetan Terrier.

1st Chamber’s Kutani Enigma – Lhasa Apso. What a stunner. 2yr B, lovely size and shape and looking a picture today. Super head flows into well laid shoulders. Straight front, level topline and correct spring and depth of chest. Super mover, true with drive. Owned the ring today. Best Utility then carried on impressing to win Best In Show.
2nd Timms & Henderson’s Chelmbull Stary Seas for Olijah – French Bulldog. 20mth . Another lovely specimen from this handler. Pleasing head and ears, dark eyes and good proportions. Well laid shoulders over deep well sprung ribs. Good rear angles and another good mover.
3rd Buckles’ Karshok Mister Kandie Man JW – Tibetan Terrier.

1st Pitts’ Grand Affair At Dappledale Iz Semyi Monarhov - Pomeranian. 6mth D. What a character, full of enthusiasm and loving life. Sweet head and expression from his dark eyes set against his white coat. Well made forequarters, short body to well made rear. Well set tail and lovely brisk movement. Best Toy Puppy

1st Firth’s Dawn Snowdrop – Pomeranian. Nicely made 19mth B. Dark eyes and a lovely expression, well set, active ears. Did very well for her first show. Well made fore and aft, short compact body and good tail set. Moved with attitude. Best Toy

1st Eagles’ Pelenrise Don’t Stop Me Now – Siberian Husky. 9 mth D. Very nice boy, well handled. Typey head with dark eyes and well set ears. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders over deep well sprung ribs. Straight front. Level topline through to well angled rear, good width of ham. Super mover with drive. Best Working Puppy and Reserve Best Puppy in Show
2nd Lawrence’s Rantowish The Silver Bullet – Dobermann. 7mth Liver D and what a lovely boy presenting a very nice outline. Lovely head with nice eye and expression. Good length of neck through to well laid shoulders and super forechest. Straight front and neat feet. Correct slightly sloping topline and good underline. Correct tailset and carriage. Super rear angles. Still very much a puppy which showed in his uncoordinated movement.

1st Garrood’s Ukusa Dobrynya - Russian Black Terrier. What a super imposing 3yr D. Good length and breadth to head, well furnished with dark eyes. Strong neck to Well laid shoulders and straight front although I would like a little forechest. Level topline over deep well sprung ribs. Good rear angles. Moved with ease, long elastic stride with reach and drive, not easy in a small ring.

1st Pierpoint’s Bouvier From Kitsis House Gina Lollobrigida Of Chepam – Bouvier Des Flandres. Lovely compact 18mth B. Feminine head with nice dark eyes and small neat ears. Short strong neck to well laid shoulders, good bone and straight front. Deep chest rising slightly to loin. Short coupled to correct rear angles. So true on the move with lovely footfall. Best Working and Reserve Best in Show
2nd Dickenson’s Kalaslane Demyan (IKC) ShCM – Russian Black Terrier. Lovely solid 7yr old D. Love his head, long neck, well laid shoulders, deep well sprung ribs, short coupled to a well made rear. Free mover but a little sluggish today.

1st Morley’s Trijem Three Times The Magic - Australian Shepherd. Nice 13mth Black Tri D. Good head shape, well set ears. Well made forequarters with straight front and neat feet. Level topline over well sprung ribs and good depth. Nice forechest. Lovely rear angles, true mover with reach and drive.
2nd Hoare’s Samema Pina Colada – Shetland Sheepdog. 15mth D. Well up to size but balanced. Masculine head of good shape, flat skull and well set ears. Well made fore and aft. Moved well.

1st Benton’s Brackenhaye Queen of Hearts of Oakestelle – Collie (Smooth). 20mth B. Lovely shape, with a beautiful head of correct shape and slight stop, dark eyes and well set ears. A front assembly of well laid shoulders, deep chest and straight front. Level back through to a well muscled and well angled rear. Smooth effortless, true mover. Best Pastoral
2nd Kennedy’s Oakcroft Aurora Dream at Donbeley – Shetland Sheepdog. 3yr B. Nice B with a lovely head and dark eyes. Well set ears just tipped. Well made forequarters with a straight front. Good depth of chest and spring of rib under a level topline. Good width to her well angled rear. Moved true with drive.
3rd Bemelmans’ Oakestelle Asterria – Collie (Smooth).

1st Kennedy’s Lirren Blue Gamble at Donbeley – Shetland Sheepdog. 8yr Blue Mrl B. Liked her size and shape, pleasing head of good proportions with well set and carried ears. Well made fore and aft. Best mover.
2nd Brierley’s Goytre First Edition P-BEG EX – Border Collie. 7yr D. Nice boy, well made all through, straight front, level topline and good tailset. Moved well but does like to show off his tail.
3rd Morrison’s Highglade Wispa Of Wings At Sulynbourne AWB – Bearded Collie.
Res Hoare’s Briggsview Opalesque – Shetland Sheepdog.

1st North’s Soneve Simply Sweet Summer at Tippastree Naf - Retriever (Golden). Pleasing 9mth B but her handler needs to work with her. Feminine through head with lovely dark eyes, well made forehand with good bone. Level topline to a well angled rear. Changing coats at the moment. Movement difficult to assess as she was having so much fun and enjoying herself.

Junior (3,1)

1st Bindza’s Laurellakes Whos That Girl – Spaniel (Cocker). A lovely 16mth Black B. Head of good shape with dark eyes and a sweet expression. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders. Level topline over well sprung ribs of good depth. Correctly angled rear. Moved with drive.
2nd Beswick & Hearn’s Susielougold Fairytail – Retriever (Golden). 15mth B. Lovely head and dark eyes. Neck flows into well laid shoulders over deep well sprung ribs. Level topline to correct tail set. Good rear angles. Moved well but a little over-exuberant at times.

Graduate (7,1)

1st Kidd’s Freestone Chances Are - Spaniel (Cocker). A well made 2yr Blue Roan B. Lovely head shape, dark eyes and soft expression. Well made forequarters with good forechest and straight front. Level topline to a well set tail. Good rear angles and moved with reach and drive.
2nd Chrisp’s Katrin Kiss Izabella (Imp BLR – Spaniel (American Cocker). 2yr Black B of good size and shape. Lovely head with good dome, good length of neck into well laid shoulders, slight slope to topline into well made rear. Another lovely mover. So close between these 2.
3rd Beswick & Hearn’s Susielougold Sunshine Girl – Retriever (Golden)

Deep well sprung ribs under a level topline to a super rear. Correct tailset and carriage. Best move, true with reach and drive. Best Gundog
2nd Joyce’s Ranchstar Vyvyan– Hungarian Vizsla. 4 yr D with a pleasing head and expression. Clean neck into well laid shoulders. Straight front and neat feet. Good depth of brisket and spring of rib. Correct rear angles, moved with drive.
3rd Morgans’ Dexbenella Frilled To Bitz - Spaniel (English Springer) .

1st Gray’s Oro Bello Carmen (Imp UKR) – Xoloitzcuintle (Mexican Hairless). 3yr B. Full of attitude with a lovely wedge shaped head, well set erect ears and dark eyes. Clean lines, well made fore and aft with a level topline. Lovely mover with reach and a typical spring in her step.
2nd Gray’s Kamora’s Ava Max – Xoloitzcuintle (Mexican Hairless). 12mth B. Pretty B but a little anxious today. Straight front and well made forequarters. Moved ok but very distracted.

2nd Morrison’s Highglade Wispa Of Wings At Sulynbourne AWB – Bearded Collie. 10yr B and what a sweetie. Nice shape to head, eyes toning with the coat. Well laid shoulders and level topline through to a well made rear. Lacking in coat today but one of the best movers, free with reach and drive and correct tail carriage.
