Minor Puppy (2,0)

1st Kelly’s Gamerights Dragon River – Retriever (Flat Coated). A real baby at just 6mths, the first show for both dog and handler and they gave a very good account of themselves. Lovely shape, lean through head with dark eyes and a slight stop. Straight front and well laid shoulders. Correct spring and depth of rib. Level topline and correct tailset and carriage. Good rear angles, steady on the move with good drive. Best Gundog Puppy

2nd Cobden’s Lithespirit Hope and Dreams for Alozia – Pointer. 8mth Liver/White B. I liked her outline. Lovely shape through head, good stop, light hazel eyes. Well made forequarters with correct lay of shoulder, straight front with good bone and neat feet. Good depth of chest. Level topline, correct tailset and a well angled rear. Moved well in front but was rather stiff behind today and lacking drive.

Junior (7,1)

1st Gray & Hales’ Sunnyoak Silver Bullet at Grayales – Retriever (Golden). 15mth D. Leading his handler a merry dance today. Masculine boy of good size and shape. Head of good proportions with breadth of skull, dark eyes and a happy expression. Well made forequarters, deep well sprung ribs, lovely bone and neat feet. Level topline and correct tailset. Nicely made rear with good turn of stifle. Moved true with drive. Best Gundog Junior then so pleased to watch them win Reserve Best Junior in Show.

2nd Barham’s Droveborough’s Mocha Mayhem – Pointer 16mth Liver/White B. Classic head with hazel eyes, lovely straight front with good bone and neat feet. I would like a little more depth to the chest. Slightly sloping topline to well made rear quarters and good tailset. Rather distracted on the move today.

Post Graduate (2,0)

1st Brooksmith’s Nightgold Pipkin – Pointer. 2yr Liver/White B. Liked her overall shape and type. Nice head proportions. Well laid shoulders, straight front and good depth of chest. Level topline with good tailset and carriage. Moved with reach and drive.

2nd Welch, Maber & Hazeltine’s Sharnphilly Toggi with Hookwood JW – Pointer. 3yr Black/White B. Another nice pointer for type. Pleasing head with dark eyes. Well made forequarters with good forechest, straight front and neat feet. Level topline of deep chest. Correct rear angles although tail set a little low. Moved well although erratic at times.

1st Horn’s Droveborough’s Smooth Mover JW – Pointer. 3yr Orange/White D. I have admired this boy for a while so it was lovely to get my hands on him. Super masculine D who, when he is not overstretched, presents a lovely outline. Classic head of correct shape and proportions. Long clean neck flows into well laid shoulders over well sprung ribs of correct depth. Strong loin through to well muscled and well angulated rear. This boy excels on the move, true, smooth with reach and drive. Thoroughly deserving of Best Gundog then so pleased to watch him win Best in Show.

2nd Hazeltine & Welch’s Pytchley Chasing The Dream for Hookwood – Pointer. 3yr Black/White D. Another masculine boy of good type with a lovely head and dark eyes. Clean through neck to well laid shoulder. Not quite the forechest of the winner. Well sprung ribs of good depth. Lovely topline and tailset over correct rear angles. A little high on the front action but lovely drive from the rear.

Veteran (3,1) Three lovely veterans.

1st Gunnery’s Clohass Flyin Ace over Beminah – Gordon Setter 7yr D. A very nice D. Loved his head, good shape with depth to skull and muzzle. Clean neck into well laid shoulders over deep, well sprung ribs, straight front with good bone and feet. Level topline to correct tailset and a well angled rear. Moved true with drive.

2nd Brooksmith’s Nightgold Blackavar VW – Pointer. 10yr Black/White B. Pleasing head with dark hazel eyes, clean neck into a well made front. Good depth of chest, level topline and correct tailset. A little straighter behind but still in good condition and moved with drive.

3rd Delamere’s Gamerights Memphis Blues – Retriever (Flat Coated)
