Retriever (Golden).

Well what can I say but thank you for entering. Lovely to have so many at an open show these days. That said, I was disappointed with the number of gay tails and the variety of heads. A few apparent loose feet but the sandy floor at this venue doesn’t help.

Puppy (14,2)

1st Pounds-Longhurst’s Mossburn Golly Miss Molly. Oh my, what a gorgeous 11mth bitch puppy. Feminine, well proportioned head with dark eyes and well set ears. Super forequarters with well laid shoulders, correct forechest, straight front and neat feet. Neck flows into a level topline through to correct tailset. Well sprung ribs of good depth. Correct rear angulation. One of the best movers, true all round with reach, drive and correct tail carriage. Best Puppy and so pleased to hear she went on to win Puppy Group 2
2nd Cruttwell, Carter & Carter’s Ashbyglen Emchantee TAF. Another very nice young bitch, just 6mth. Lighter in coat but that’s just the icing on the cake. Another feminine, well made head with dark eyes. Well laid shoulders, good forechest and straight front although feet could be tighter. Lovely level topline and correct tailset and carriage. Deep well sprung ribs through to a well angled rear. True steady mover.

Junior (5,1)

1st Bowie’s Beaubute Rothesay Bay. 15mth dog. A pleasing head and dark eyes. Well laid shoulders and a straight front but lacks return of upper arm which leads to a lack of forechest. Level topline and good tailset. Good rear angles, best mover in the class.
2nd Jankelow’s Ella Paddocks De Lar De Casanova. 14mth bitch Heavier in build, feminine head with dark eyes. Loaded at the shoulders which are still well laid back and she has good forechest. Front ok but a little weak in the pasterns. Good rear angles. Not handled to advantage and moved ok but improved with each class she and her handler were in.

Novice (12,3)

1st Russell-Bond & Cole’s Rosinante Silhouette. This lovely 9mth bitch was 3rd in puppy but stood out for me in this class. Lovely head, dark eyes, neck flows into well laid shoulders, straight front with good forechest. Feet could look a little tighter. Level topline through to good rear angles. Moved true with drive.
2nd Pounds-Longhurst’s Mossburn Galloping Major. Litter brother to my BP. Loved his outline, masculine head of good shape and dark eyes. Well made forequarters with well laid shoulders and good forechest. Level topline to a well set tail. Correct rear angles. Moves nicely, shame he flew his tail today.

Very close between 1 & 2
1st Russell-Bond’s Rosinante Déjà vu. 21mth bitch. Liked her overall shape and outline. A pleasing head and a dark hazel eye. Well laid shoulders with enough forechest, straight front. Deep well sprung ribs under a level topline to a well set tail. Best mover, tail carriage ok.
2nd May’s Cherrygold Storyteller JW. 13mth bitch and another with lovely overall shape. Feminine head and dark eyes. Well laid shoulders and good forechest. Straight front but preferred feet of 1.Level topline to a well set tail but she carried a touch high on the move. Lovely rear angles, moved well.

1st Russell-Bond’s Rosinante Déjà vu. 1st Special Yearling
2nd Pett’s Rumwood Three Times A Lady. 3yr bitch. Very feminine b with a pleasing head and dark eyes. Well made forequarters with good forechest and straight front. Feet ok. Level topline to good rear angles. Moved true with drive, tail up a little.

Post Graduate (13,2)

1st Todd’s Toddrosa Oasis Charm JW. This unassuming 3yr bitch is one that doesn’t stand out from the crowd until you judge her. Lovely type and shape, a solid bitch, feminine head of good breadth and lovely dark eyes. Super forequarters, well laid shoulders, correct upper arm and good forechest. Straight front and tidy feet. Level topline over deep well sprung ribs through to a well set tail. Correct rear angles and moves true with reach drive and correct tail carriage. In short, just what I was looking for. A well deserved Best of Breed then thrilled to hear she went Gundog Group 1.
2nd Russell-Bond’s Rosinante Mirabelle JW. Another lovely 3yr bitch that is lovely to go over. Feminine head of good proportions and dark eyes. Well made forequarters, good forechest, deep well sprung ribs. Level topline and correct tailset. Correct rear and moved true with drive.
3rd Clarke’s Sunnyoak The Girl Is Mine

Open Dog (6,2)

1st Taylor’s Alibren Eccles at Tannadice JW. 3yr dog. Masculine dog of good shape. Head broad and well proportioned with dark eyes. Lovely forequarters with well laid shoulders and good forechest, straight front and good feet. Level topline through short loin to a well set tail and correctly angled rear. Moved with drive and correct tail carriage. Reserve Best of Breed
2nd Kinchella’s Honeymill Elder Warrior. 3yr dog. Slightly larger built that 1st but still in proportion and balanced. Masculine, well proportioned head with dark eyes. Well laid shoulders, well sprung ribs of good depth and nice forechest. Straight front. Does have a slight slope to the topline sometimes. Well angled rear and moved true with drive.

2nd Pett’s Lady in Red De Ambersclan of Rumwood. 6yr Pale bitch and what a madam. Very feminine, pleasing head with dark eyes that had a little twinkle of naughtiness in them. Lovely front with Well laid shoulders and good forechest. Straight front and neat feet. Level topline to gcorrect tailset. Good rear angles, moved true with drive.

1st Trim’s Carpe Diem Urbe Immortal (Imp Ita) NAF TAF. 8mth Fawn dog. Lovely boy of good proportions and shape. Head developing well, good shape, flat skull and well set ears, pronounced stop and dark eyes with an attentive inquisitive expression. Straight front of good width, well laid shoulders, ribs well sprung and of good depth. Good rear angles and moves true with ease. Still very much a baby but very promising. Best Puppy then I was so pleased to see he won Puppy Group 1. Well done.
2nd Cochrane’s Cani Felici Bulls Apollo at Asborn NAF. OMG, what a sweetie. Just 6 months and 1 day and so cute. That said he also has lots of promise. Head of good shape at the moment with nice mask. Wide straight front, deep ribs, compact body and correct rear. Moved so well for his show debut.

Post Graduate (3,1)

1st Porter & Bowser’s Araucaria Malus Sylvestis (AI). 2yr dark red dog. Very imposing. Super head of good shape and size, lovely dark eyes and mask, well set ears. Strong thick neck to well laid shoulders and deep well sprung ribs. Broad straight front. Good rear, well muscled. Moved well, ok in front, super behind.
2nd Cochrane’s Cani Felici Bulls Apollo at Asborn NAF.

Open (5,3)

1st Porter & Bowser’s Araucaria Sambucus Nigera (AI). Litter brother to PG winner and very similar. Again, very imposing, strong, powerful boy. I preferred his rear angles and front movement which ultimately won him Best of Breed.
2nd Cochrane’s Cani Felici Bulls Apollo at Asborn NAF.
