Huddersfield and District Canine Association Sunday 26th September 2021

May i just start by saying thank you to the club for inviting me to judge the toy breeds. I had a lovely day despite entries being low due to several champ and breed club shows held the same day, We had a nice day, Relaxed and well run. My stewards kept our ring in order and were both very welcoming. Hospitality again we were very well looked after for lunch. Thank you.

L/C Chihuahua Puppy – No Entries

L/C Chihuahua Post Graduate – 1 entry Norton - Valenchino Belle Of The Ball

Sweet, Feminine 4 years old female. Red and white in colour with the most beautiful large , flaring ears set well on a nicely domed head. Eyes super expressive very pretty features. Nice reach of neck sloping to a level top line with correct tail set carried up and over nicely feathered. Moved well coming and going although stood alone, she wasn’t fazed at all and was happy to award her best of breed. I later enjoyed watching her take toy group 4.

1st McDaniel – Alichichi Cookies And Cream

19 month old female, fawn and white colour with a nice smooth coat. Apple domed in head with well placed ears held up and alert throughout. Feminine, expressive eyes with good stop. Nice reach of neck, level top line with tail held up and over whilst in the ring. Nice in movement coming and going and Super attentive to handler throughout. Pleased to award her best of breed.

2nd Norton – Donluchi Eva The Diva

Pretty, dainty blue fawn female of 2 yrs old. Small feminine features on a lovely domed head. Sweet expressive eyes, nice ear placement. Sadly a little unsettled today to fully assess movement, but given the echoy venue, she did very well and I’m sure her confidence will build up in time. Happy to award Reserve Best Of Breed.

1st McDaniel -Shantallah Marcel

Nearly a Veteran coming up 7 years old, this Handsome male was a sweetheart to access. Cream and white colour very thick smooth coat, small in structure. Sweet eyes with soft expression, ears placed well, nice stop. Level top line with nicely held tail. Sadly like some of us, he was carrying a tad to much lock down belly today which impacted on movement.

Papillon Puppy – 2 Entries

1st Kirk – Lynflyer Rainbow Dancer At Kirkchaser

Beautiful 8 month old female puppy. Did super well and enjoyed her time in the ring. Tri in colour with a lovely outline. Alert, expressive girl who never dropped her large, flaring ears placed nicely on a slight rounded head. Round Eyes sparkling bright and alert. Feminine features, dainty in structure. Nice reach of neck with level top line, tail carried very well throughout. On the move she was so light on her feet and just pushed with drive. Her silky coat flowed as she moved. Pleased to award Best Puppy In Breed and later see her take Toy Puppy Group 2.

2nd Proctor – Lynflyer Rainbow Catcher

Another wonderful young lady of 8 months old. Later to be told was litter sister to BPIB. Sable and white in colour of silky, soft texture. Lovely outline and shape. Feminine in head and soft expressive bright eyes. Alert and curious temperament using her large, flaring ears throughout. Moved nicely and freely, holding her tail up and over her back with nicely feathered fringing.

1st Morton – Abblazzor Fire Dancer

1 year old pretty female, sable and white colour with silky, smooth fine coat. Nice girl who was sadly very nervous today so i was more than happy to give this girl some time to be touched, handled and spoken to softly. She had a lovely feminine expression showing off her sparkling rounded eyes. Ears up and alert with nice fringing. Nice bite and good stop. Level in top line with tail held nicely over her back. Good feathering all round which flowed lightly as she moved out freely once getting going.

1st Woodrow – Lafford Golden Star At Lynflyer

Wow as soon as i seen this girl, She drew me in deeper and deeper the more i watched her. 3 years old tri female, super outline and held herself just beautifully throughout. Profuse flowing silky smooth coat with feathering in proportion. She has the most beautiful alert, expressive eyes, nice stop with good bite. Nice, slightly rounded head with large flaring ears well used at all times. Neck slight slope down a level top line moving to her feathered tail carried up and over her back. On the move she had good straight action coming and going moving freely with good drive. Pleased to award her Best Of Breed and later see her take Toy Group 1

2nd Kirk – Kirkchase Tomorrow Child

4 years old beautiful female. Tri in colour with long silky soft coat. Nicely outline on the stand. Feminine in head which was slightly rounded, pretty, soft, expressive eyes. Large flaring ears well feathered. Nice in neck sloping down a nice level top line. Tail set on well up and over her back nicely covered. Movement was good with straight action lightly, free flowing on neat feet.

1st Beadling – Sharlarna Hot Blooded (taf)

Black and white 7 months old male puppy. Very cheeky and lively temperament just loved his time in the ring. Nicely rounded head, ears placed high on. Large dark expressive eyes showing the true astonished look. Good teeth for age with strong jaw. Up to size in structure but going through a typical growth stage of ups and downs. Nice in front with deep chest giving straight movement. Level in back with tail held over closely to his back. Coat coming in well with good feathering. A lively boy I’m sure will give his owner some good fun times ahead. Pleased to award Best Puppy In Breed and later see him take Toy Puppy 3

Delightful black and white male of 8 years old on the day. Super gentle nature very sweet in facial expressions. Head fairly rounded with ears placed high on. Eyes alert, bright giving a typical look. Compact in body with a level top line. High set tail carried over his back nicely feathered. Moved soundly and happily with handler. Pleased to award him Best Of Breed.

Well, if ever my heart sank it was today with this little guy. Orange male of 3 years old. Small, compact, dainty structure of fabulous outline with a true look at me attitude. Nice in head with a gentle masculine expression. Ears small, carried alert at all times. Eyes dark, sparkling of medium size. Short in neck sloping to a well rounded, compact body. Tail set on high over his back straight with good length harsh textured hair. Super groomed but no way over don. Neat small feet giving him light, free flowing movement of brisk action. I was very pleased to award him Best Of Breed and later see him take Toy Group 3.

1st lyons, Rickinson – Ulybka Fortune Iz Knyaginino At Tomalinas (ShCM) (Imp Rus)

Orange Sable female of 8 years old. What a sweetheart, she was just enjoying her day out. Feminine in head with beautiful dark eyes. Ears placed well and used on the move. Fairly deep in chest giving good straight front movement. Short in neck, level top line with a tail held high on straight over with a good covering of harsh coat. Well covered body, nicely groomed with good coat texture of soft undercoat and true harsh outer coat. Rear movement was good giving light, free brisk steps. Pleased to award her Reserve Best Of Breed.

Junior Handling 6-11 years

1st Miss Alice McDaniel (Chihuahua)

Very smart 11 years old young lady. Truly focused and attentive on her dog and well handled throughout. Good eye contact and very polite when spoken to. Whilst moving, she kept focus and never came between myself and her dog. Very well done and pleased to award Reserve Best Junior Handler.

2nd Miss Leah Costello (French Bulldog)

Another smart 11 years old young lady, who showed really well. Kept good focus on her dog who worked with Leah during their time in the ring. Very polite and good eye contact when spoken to. Keep it up Leah, Your doing a great job.

 I have no doubt given time both these young ladies will have wonderful show careers in the near future. Keep up the good work girls.

Junior Handling 12-16 years

1st Scarlett Costello (French Bulldog)

Super smart 13 year old young Lady. Previously judged at a local match night and this girl has come on truly well. She has matured in her manners and gained good confidence. Scarlett was very much at one with her dog and they both looked in sync through out. Well focused on what she was doing and being asked of. I was proud to award her Best Junior Handler.

2nd Master J Sutton (Siberian Husky)

 what a super smart young man. 14 years old, very polite with good eye contact. He handled very well, his dog moved freely but under close instruction by handler. Kept good focus and showed good manners throughout. Another real asset to our up and coming handlers.
