South East & East Anglian Tibetan Spaniel Society

South East & East Anglian Tibetan Spaniel Society – Open Show 22nd August 2021

A lovely entry, and even with absentees there was a good number to go over and I was pleased with the quality across the piece. I was very well served by two great stewards and the ring ran like clockwork. Thank you to SE&EATSS for this invitation and to all the exhibitors for bringing their dogs for me to go over.

Special Vintage Dog (1):

1. Velrok Haldir (Wallis Baga). This 16 year old boy is something special. While the patina of age is clear, he retains a style and dignity that is lovely to see. A proper show dog, pleased to be doing his thing. Correct head with good ear placement and good expression. Balanced outline, good body, super feet! Moved steadily, as befits his age – but was sound and straight on the out and back. A super boy.

Veteran Dog (2,1):

1. Ch Alfie Beau At Saxtead (Thornley-Taylor) A worthy champion and the eventual BVIS, this handsome 9yo displayed lovely type and overall balance. Handsome head with correct eye shape and super chin. Good expression, especially when he used his ears, which added to the animation. Shown in good coat of correct texture, lovely tail and proper hare feet. Really sound on the move with lovely side gait.

Minor Puppy Dog (0)

Puppy Dog (1,1)

Junior Dog (3,2):

1. Velrok King Silver With Arikara (Close) Very attractive parti-colour with handsome head and good proportions. Good angulation front and rear, correct coat, lovely tail plume. Moved out well and was super on the out and back.

Yearling Dog(1):

1. Velrok King Silver With Arikara (Close) Repeat - note as for Junior Dog

Post Graduate Dog (5,2):

1. Balgay Muri Ma Pieldi (Deveaux). Nice youngster, not in full coat, but what he had was well presented and of good quality. Lovely head, with well placed ears adding to super expression. Particularly liked his very good front assembly. Moved out well.

2. Velrok Silver Mirage (Wallis Baga). Another nice parti presenting a good overall balanced appearance. Not as obviously masculine as 1. Good muzzle to skull proportions, but would prefer slightly flatter skull. Good bone and feet. Moved out nicely.

3. Velrok Zephyr (Andrews). More mature 6yo with good type overall balance. Really liked his lovely attitude – a real showman. Well presented and another with lovely feet. Good on the move.

Limit Dog (3):

1. Gianni Its Denzil (Beveridge). Super 3yo boy – all male. Strong in head, but not overdone. In full coat and presented so well. Under the coat was a well-constructed frame with correct angulation. Moved out with conviction and never stopped showing. RBD, RBIS

2. Follow Balthasar To Velrok (Imp SWE). Close decision here. Another strong male, slightly shorter in muzzle. Richly coloured coat was well presented and of super quality. I liked his overall balanced proportions. Not as settled on the move, but very sound.

3. Maisijoy Devil In Disguise (Richardson & Platt). Lighter all through, and lacking coat. Liked his head and lovely ear placement and good TS expression. Moved ok.

Open Dog (1):

1. Gianni Its Gollant (Steed) . This lovely dog owned the ring. From his black mask to his lovely plumed tail he was a picture. Shown in super condition with full coat presented so well. Handsome head with good skull to muzzle ratio, lovely oval eye, correct ears – which he used to advantage. Lovely expression. A super showman from start to finish. On the move he was as sound as could be. BD, BIS

Special Beginners Dog (2)

1. Maisijoy Devil In Disguise (Richardson & Platt). (see Post Grad)

2. Velrok Zephyr (Andrews) (see Limit)

Special Vintage Bitch (4,1)

1. Ch Gianni Its A Party (Steed). My day started with a Vintage star and here was another! Very pretty, feminine 11yo. Loved her head with correct eye shape and super ears; good chin. Attractive parti-coloured coat covering a well balanced frame. Overall, such a lovely typey picture and could put some youngsters to shame on the move. BSVIS

2. Velrok Black Magic (Wallis Baga). Another super 11yo – just yielding coat to 1. However, she looked a picture and was so very sound on the move.

3. Colphil Ketu Of Sherrldene (Wilson). The third in this trio of 11yo bitches. Pretty in head and with the most lovely feet. Not quite as balanced in outline, but a very attractive picture on the stand. Moved ok.

Veteran Bitch (5,2)

1. Ch Malia Yuanzhi JW (Short). Lovely fawn bitch, nearly 10 and wearing her years very lightly. Super head with attractive black mask, correct oval eye and nice ear set. Had a particularly haughty air! In good coat of lovely texture covering a balanced frame of correct proportions. On the move she was as sound as could be.

2. Ch Gianni Its A Pandora (Steed). Attractive parti-colour with lovely head but not using her ears as well as 1. Another shown in such good condition and moved out so well.

3. Tibbylands Rosemerry Of Sherldene (Wilson). Very pretty girl, having way too much fun with her handler! So naughty – but so nice, too. Good for overall balance, shown in super coat and moved well when she settled.

Minor Puppy Bitch (0)

Puppy Bitch (3,2)

1. Malia Harvest Flower (Short) 10 month, very pretty puppy. Nice head with correct skull to muzzle ratio. Well constructed and nicely balanced outline. Good puppy coat, already showing off her plume and feathers. Moved well. BPIS

Junior Bitch (2,2)

Yearling Bitch (3,1):

1. Saxtead Truly Scrumptious (Thornley-Taylor). 20 months, but a lockdown ‘newbie’. Very pretty with correct head, lovely muzzle and chin. Nicely built with good bone and overall proportions. Very nice side gait.

2. Balgay Jampo (Deveaux). More settled than 1, but not quite the balance of outline. Very nice front assembly; shown in good coat and well presented. Moved steadily but a little close behind.

Post Graduate Bitch (8,3):

1. Souska Slow Down (Collett). Pretty, pale fawn bitch of very nice body and proportions. Loved her snooty attitude. Clean on the move.

2. Saxtead Truly Scrumptious (Thornley-Taylor) – Notes as above, Yearling bitch

3. Maisijoy Follow That Dream (Richardson & Platt). Another very pretty, feminine girl. Good coat, presented well. Would have preferred a little more leg, but overall presented a nice picture. Moved ok.

4. Velrok Elvenstar (Wallis Baga)

5. Chenrezi Never Enough (Andrews)

Limit Bitch (4,1):

1. Parvati Bedigebu (Horton) Very nice class of lovely ladies. This bitch has presence and is striking with her richly coloured and beautiful coat. Lovely clean head with correct eye and super ears which she used to advantage. Lovely construction and balanced proportions. Moved out well. BB/BOS

2. Balgay Mi Belle At Saxtead (Thornley-Taylor). Another of quality. Very pretty and feminine with attractive head – but would not use her ears and sulked a little! Good proportions, lovely coat – and beautiful hare feet. Moved well.

3. Parloueve All I Am At Malia (Short). Liked the overall balance of this attractive girl. Nice eye shape and correct ear set. Would like a little shorter muzzle. Moved ok.

Open Bitch (8,3):

1. Malia Eclipse JW (Short). Very pretty fawn with good head and nicely set ears. Would insist on showing me her teeth a little. Lovely body proportions. Well presented. Moved out well.

2. Tuyet Lhamu Cepla (Horton). Close decision here with another very pretty girl with nicely proportioned head and body. In very good coat with super plume. Resolutely refused to sparkle today. Moved out well.

3. Malia Summer Memories (Short). This little one left her jacket at home, which was a shame as there is a lot to like about her. Pretty head, lovely well set ears, good proportions and moved out well.

4. Velrok Shiffalia (Wallis Baga)

5. Colphil Chloe-Tu Of Sherldene (Wilson)

Special Beginners Bitch (3,2)

1. Chenrezi Never Enough (Andrews). Pretty girl, nice for size and overall proportions and in good coat. Moved ok.
