Woolwich Bexley & District Canine Association

Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge at this show and to the exhibitors for their entry. I was really looking forward to judging Rough Collies. This was my first breed before I moved to Gundogs and I still love them. I was pleased with the overall type in the entry.

Shetland Sheepdog
Thank you for a lovely entry, unfortunately there were quite a few absentees.

Puppy (4, 2abs)
1st Matthews’ Esterbon Time Will Tell
Sweet baby with a typical head, nicely tapered. She presented a very nice overall picture with good length and depth to her body and well developed rear. On the move she was more settled than 2 and was better behind. BP, RBOB & PG4
2nd Rennison’s Zaniahs Perfect Storm
Another attractive baby who just needs a little more confidence to make the most of her qualities. At the moment she is not as forward as 1. Her ears need to settle to show off her lovely expression. She has quality bone and well padded feet. Once she settled she moved steadily.

Post Graduate (4, 2abs)
1st Rennison’s Kayla Kiss Ze Shetkandy By Zaniah (Imp CZE)
This blue bitch has the most attractive head and expression, using her ears well. Well arched neck and good shoulder placement. Lovely body proportions and a slight rise over the loin flowing in a correctly set croup. On the move she flowed round the ring, covering plenty of ground. BOB
2nd Matthews’ Esterbon In The Shadows
Another young bitch who unfortunately was not in her best coat today. She has lovely front angulation and clean, strong bone. She moved well with minimal effort.

Open (2, 2abs)

Rough Collie
Puppy (2)
1st Perrott’s Gataj One Moment In Time
11mth bitch who was a size larger than I would prefer. She has an attractive clean wedge shaped head but the expression would benefit from use of her ears. She has a well arched neck and correct topline. On the move she was positive and free flowing which won her the class. BP & PG3
2nd Simmons’ Corisan French Tickle
This lady gave away a lot in age. She has a typical head and ear set. Super well arched neck and well placed shoulders. She was not as positive on the move as one but this will come with confidence.

Post Graduate (2, 1 abs)
1st Wells’ Amalie Just Annie at Terelimon
Attractive bitch in full coat. Good expression and ear carriage, I would have preferred more fill under the eye to give the required gradual taper to the nose. She has a well angulated front and good rear, with slight rise over her loin, although I found her to be a little short in the back making her square in profile. Moved ok.

Open (4, 2abs)
1st Benton, Smith & Smith’s Brooklynson El Dorado
This boy took my eye as he entered the ring and has much to like from his masculine, typey head to his correctly set tail. I loved his expression and ear set. His neck is well arched and his shoulders are well placed with good return of upper arm. He has length to his body and deep rib. His confirmation showed on the move where he was true coming and going and had a good stride in profile. I was pleased to award him BOB and delighted to see him go Group 1.
2nd Stillwell’s Bellawave Caught In A Dream
A veteran tri bitch who was not in her best coat. She was very similar to my winner for her balanced construction. She has quality bone and well arched feet, good length and depth of rib. Another who moved straight and with purpose is profile. I was very happy to give her RBOB.

Gundog Group - This was a lovely group and I was spoilt for choice.
1st Bavin & Austin's Rojoys Chase The Dream JW ShCM - Cocker Spaniel
This bitch took my eye on my first look round the ring for her overall type. Her head is balanced with correctly set ears. She is clean through the neck with a level topline and compact body. Her rear is nicely rounded and she moved showing typical cocker action.
2nd Welch's Pytchley Chasing The Dream For Hookwood JW ShCEx - Pointer
This boy appealed for his balanced outline. He has good depth to his rib with arched loin. His muscular rear enabled him to move with purpose covering the ground well.
3rd Metcalfe's Baileydale Puff Daddy - Labrador
9mth old puppy who really held his own in good company. He appealed in head and he is clean in neck. His body is well developed and he is short coupled. He was very collected on the moved for such and youngster.
4th Cops & Whiting's Locksheath Black Ice - Gordon Setter
Completed a good line up.

Gundog Puppy Group
1st Metcalfe's Baileydale Puff Daddy - Labrador
Should have a good future. I will watch with interest.
2nd Boxall's Laurelhach Renaissance - Gordon Setter
This baby is another good prospect. I just preferred the head of the Labrador. Very balanced and everything in proportion. Excellent bone an super feet. She already has a quality coat with rich tan markings and was in good condition. Another who moved true. I will be interested to see how she matures.
3rd Blackeley & Salero's Wightroche The Bee - Cocker Spaniel
Well balanced baby who moved with purpose and showed typical cocker style. In gleaming coat. deep in rib and well turned rear.
4th Beasley's Wansleydale May Flower - English Setter
At almost 7mths this baby gave a lot away in age. She has good head properties and lovely bone with tight feet. She already has good furnishings. She moved with good extension in profile.

AV Good Citizens Dog Scheme (21, 14abs)
1st Burrage's Ch Komidion Night Music at Sametova ShCM ShCEx VW - Cesky Terrier
At 11.5 years old this bitch is beautiful and powered round the ring. Her head forms a blunt triangle of balance. Elegant neck to muscular shoulders. She has correct length of rib with slight tuck up. She was well presented and in super condition. a real credit to her owners.
2nd Mayhew & Middleton's ShCh Arnac Bay Hebe - Chesapeake Bay Retriever.
Very unlucky to come up against the winner, I was really torn between these two quality girls. Balanced head and good eye colour. She is so well balanced all through with depth of rib and strong topline. She is in hard condition enabling her to cover the ground. The ring was a little small and I would like to see her with more space to get going.
3rd Yorke & Keree-Bartolo's Middletune Flame Of Gold
