Many thanks to the committee for the invitation to judge at this well attended show and to my stewards for their efficient work. I was delighted with the entry and the quality was high which meant that some of my decisions were very close indeed.

Chinese Crested

Puppy (3/0)

1. Minton’s Hedwiga Modern Family (Imp POL) – White hairless girl who has good overall body proportions being longer than high, good lay of shoulders which enabled her to reach in front. She has a good head with a dark eye, a correct muzzle to skull proportions, a correct scissor bite and a good earset. BP

2. Godfrey & Peacock’s Godpeakiki Viva Bitta Bling – very raw black & white hairless 6m/o dog. I liked his head qualities with a lovely eye, good muzzle to skull proportions, large ears that were well placed and carried and a correct bite. A bit difficult to assess on the move today but I’m sure he will learn the ropes like his litter sister who was third today and shares many of the attributes including the sweet expression.

PG (6/2)

1. Boden’s Ensidias You Me You Wish at Gemadar (IMP SWE) – 14m/o Hairless male who has correct body proportions, about enough lay of shoulders, straight front, good rear angulation and lovely extended hare feet. Correct muzzle to skull proportions, clean muzzle with chiselling, correct bite, good eye, excellent ear placement. He is lovely example of the breed and won the class and eventually BOB on type but needs to build more confidence.

2. Farquharson Prince of Arabia JW – a white powwderfuff, whose head proportions I really liked. He has a dark eye, a good earset and as expected full dentition and a correct scissor bite. Correct length of body relative to height, held his topline on the move, but would have liked a little more reach in front. Could also do with slightly thinner coat.

O (5/1)

1. Boden’s Clezel’s Habibi Soft’N Sweet Gemadar (Imp SWE) – 2 ½ y/o white powderpuff. I liked his size, correct body proportions, good lay of shoulders, level topline. He moved well. Good head proportions with a dark eye, correct scissor bote, he has a good earset and the ears were well carried. Lovely hare foot. RBOB

2. Masters’ Esquimaux Skin Deep – this is a very nice hairless male with a masculine head, good skull, muzzle length is correct but would like it slightly more refined, good eye shape, size and colour. Would prefer a slightly longer body. Level topline

King Charles Spaniel

Puppy (2/1)

1. Miller & Ryan’s Cavallibrook Blimey O Riley – 6m/o tricolour boy with the most gorgeous face, loved his chin, his clean lips and his cushionning. He has large black & round eyes, good domed skull, low and long ears. His body has good substance for his age, he is already cobby, his shoulders are well laid back, he has a good return of upper-arm. The rear angulation matches the front and he moved with drive, keeping his topline level. BP, BOB, Group 4 & Puppy Group 1.

Open (4/1)

1. Bowles-Robinson’s Baldragon Shoots He Scores – another lovely tri-colour male with rounded skull, correct large eye, good mouth, maybe could have tighter lips, lovely earset. He has a good overall body shape, lay of shoulder is Ok, level topline, good spring of ribs, could be slightly shorter coupled. He moved well. RBOB

Puppy (5/1)

1. Miller & Ryan’s Feorlig Say It With Flowers – Dainty Gold & white dog who has a lovely overall balance. Liked his head with correct muzzle to skull ratio, good medium dark round eye, correct earset & carriage. His medium neck follows into well laid shoulders and a level topline. His good return of upper arm and straight legs completes his well angulated front construction matching the rear, giving him balance and drive. Tail is set on high and well carried. Lovely hare feet. BP, PG3.

2. Geary’s Taliesyn Canterbury Bells – Tricolour girl who just needs more training. Has a lovely head (my notes say “cheeky face), lovely refined muzzle of correct length and defined stop, attractive round dark eye, lovely earset & carriage and nice fringes. Liked her angulation body length, although still needs to fill in a bit. Good tail set & carriage.

Delightful. BP & PG2

She presented a lovely square body shape, good angulation front & rear, a level topline finishing off with a good set on tail that was carried over the back at all times. The coat has a lovely texture and is pure white, contrasting perfectly with the darkest pigment on nose & lips. Just, very unexpectedly, loved her. BOB & G1.

Marsden’s Winharleigh Magic Of Music – 3y/o male Bichon Frisé of good substance, presented in good body & coat condition, square body with deep chest, nicely arched neck of good length in relation to body, level topline, tail set on and carried well. Aptrick Time For Elevenses CW19 – Red Rough Griffon Bruxellois with a very typical head and expression, large dark round eyes, correct nose placement with good open nostrils, wide underjaw and correct turn up so important for the breed, his ears are small, well-set and perfectly carried. He is cobby having good substance and a square body with a short loin, good angulation, could juts do with slightly tighter elbows, but this did not distract from his good movement and his rear construction and muscles are good, giving him drive. All that topped up by his rich red harsh coat. RBOB

2. Towers’ Enjanicka Midnight Blue ShCM – 5 y/o Bolognese male who I see is the older brother of the BOB and not surprisingly he shared many of her attributes. Lovely head proportions, with good stop, nice wide skull, round eyes. Compact body with level topline, correct tail set & carriage, would like slightly more lay of shoulders. Coat was immaculate & of good texture.
