Nordic Open Show

27/11/21

Such a lovely show. It was certainly very cold and there were quite a few absent due to the snow, but I had some very lovely dogs to go over.

Samoyeds

What a lovely entry. Thank you very much.

Puppy (2,0)

1st: Short’s Sibertips Start Attraction at Zakaytia (AI). A very feminine young lady with lots to like. Moderate wedge shape to head with flattish skull. and very engaging expression. Eyes are almond in shape and set correctly slanted. Ear set ok. Good pigment. Medium length to neck. Moderate angulation throughout. Firm topline. Body is well proportioned. Feet are long and flattish as required. Tail set high and profusely coated. Has all the essence of a promising young Samoyed. Coped very well with the floor. Best Puppy.

2nd: Bird’s Sasoolka Fyodor. A very handsome dog with a typical expression. Eyes are very expressive and dark in colour. Ears are well set, but one is soft, which gave ground to 1st here. Neck ok for length. Not quite as well balanced in angulation as the winner having a tad more in rear than front. Very nice proportions. Sound on the move, but not as balanced as 1st. Very well presented.

Special Yearling (3,2)

1st: Kosmane’s Serebryanaya Skazka Gorynya Bogatyr (Imp Rus). Well presented dog. Rather large and plain all through for me. Doesn’t really display that typical smiling expression I look for. Neck is of medium length. Moderate angulation at front with slightly more angulation at rear. Very firm topline. Good depth and breadth to chest. Feet are to standard. Well off for bone. Tail is well set and carried over the back and to the side. Moves soundly when he concentrates.

Post Graduate (2,0)

1st: Hunt’s Artsam Adored. I felt this was a very lovely Samoyed. Super smiling expression on a lovely feminine but not too refined head. Displays a very good wedge shape. Correct proportions to skull and muzzle. Flattish skull. Medium stop. Lovely almond shaped eyes which are set on a slant. Ears are well set and of a nice shape with slightly rounded tips. Very well proportioned height to length. Neck of medium length. Moderate layback to shoulders. Chest is of good depth and has enough width. Lovely bone for size. Ribcage is carried back nicely. Firm loins. Turn of stifle is sufficient and not overdone. Hocks are well let down and firm. Super tail set and carriage. Great coat with lovely silver tips and in excellent condition. Super mover on a difficult floor. Really liked her and I shall watch her progress with great interest. BOB

2nd: Mann’s Taronakits Its Krystal Dixierose JW. Not quite as good in expression as the winner, but still very attractive. She has nice dark eyes and good pigment. Well balanced through the head. Tight fitting lips. Neck of medium length. Moderate angles fore and aft. For me just a shade long in body for her height. Tail set is good and she carries it well. Moves soundly , but not with the scope or footfall of the winner.

Open (2,0)

1st: Short’s Ch Zeelukzak Ice’N Glorious at Zakaytia JW. This veteran bitch has a very lovely smiling expression so typical of the breed. Almond shape to eyes, which are dark enough in colour. Head shows a nice wedge. For me, her ears are a little too big. She is very nicely put together with very good angulation fore and aft. Still firm in topline and loins. Really pleases the eye for overall conformation. Showing her age a little on the move and really found the floor difficult. Super personality and one that just makes you smile.

2nd: Hunt’s Glynsam White Dream at Artsam. Rather harder in expression than winner. Eyes ok for shape and set. Ears are perhaps a tad close set. Neck is just about long enough. Very well put together in body with super angulation. His topline is firm. Coat in good condition. Really couldn’t move on what is a very slippery floor.

Norwegian Buhunds

Unfortunately the scheduled judge could not get to the show because of the snow, so I was rather fortunate to take on this lovely entry. I can honestly say that all those presented on the day were good quality in my view and I’m sure will go on to many wins between them. Thank you for accepting my placings.

1st: Corin & Camm’s Kligenthal Almuric. One I haven’t seen before. I feel he has a lovely expression. Very alert and attentive and on his toes. His head is lean and light. Just about broad enough through the skull. Muzzle tapers evenly and he does not appear too refined. Dark eyes. High set ears which are greater in height than width. Medium length to clean neck. Medium angulation all through. Good bone. Back is level and doesn’t slope away. Firm loins. Small oval feet. Tail is set on high. And curled correctly. A very nice dog who I’m sure will go on to win many prizes. Very even, sound gait.

2nd: Strong’s Leggatts Dancing Queen At Draccus. A very nice black bitch. More mature in body. Has a really feminine head with enough width to skull. Eyes ok for shape. Ears are high set and greater in height than width. Nice wedge and does not appear overly refined. Neck good. Like her body for angles and proportions. Chest is deep. Bone calibre good for a bitch. Firm and level in topline. Loins short and strong. Medium turn to stifle. A lovely mover around the ring and really takes your eye. Well presented. Narrowly defeated a top quality bitch in 3rd who was finding conditions just a little challenging.

3rd: Lambert’s Ch Sturtmoor’s Free’N’Eezee
