Wolsingham & Wear Valley Agricultural Society

Wolsingham & Wear Agricultural Show – Sunday 5th September

Judge – Mrs Kelly Lee (Kelrick)

I would like to thank the committee of Wolsingham & Wear Agricultural Show for inviting me to judge and my lovely stewards Tabitha Trafford and Nicola Whelan for organising the ring for me. We were lucky with the weather and I had a nice entry of good quality exhibits. Many thanks to the exhibitors for bringing their lovely dogs for me to go over and for their sporting attitudes in accepting my decisions.

CKCS

J: (2) 1. Turnbull’s Peakdowns Queen of Hearts. 7 month old Blenheim bitch. Well marked with rich chestnut markings on a pearly white background. She has a most attractive head with correct earset, round dark eyes, correct dentition and the desired soft melting expression. She is a lovely compact bitch, balanced with good turn of stifle and she moved well around the ring. BP Unfortunately she didn’t stay for Puppy Group.

2. Linton’s Thekops Shankly’s Girl. 12 month old ruby bitch. Presented well with rich red silky coat. Large, round, dark eyes and sweet expression, skull almost flat between well set ears. Good angulation and moved well around the ring.

PG: (2) 1. Rogerson’s Rabymar Isla Negra. 18 month old Black & Tan bitch. This beautiful girl caught my eye the moment she stepped into the ring. Presented immaculately with a gleaming silky raven black coat with tan markings. Stunning head with dark eyes, well set apart, correct earset and almost flat skull, correct dentition and the sweetest of expressions. Lovely size and happy temperament. She moved around the ring with good reach and drive, maintaining a level topline at all times. Pleased to award her BOB. Unfortunately she did not stay for Group.

2. Linton’s Jernito Brown Eyed Girl at Thekop. 12 month old Black & Tan bitch. Well presented with rich tan markings and a raven black coat. Happy disposition and nice expression, round dark eyes and enough cushioning. Good angulation and moved well around the ring.

O: (3) 1. Turnbull’s Peakdowns Angellica. 2 year old Blenheim bitch. Presented immaculately. Well broken coat with rich chestnut on a pearly white background. Lovely dark round eyes, good pigment, correct dentition and enough cushioning to give the desired melting expression. Well angulated which she used to good effect as she moved around the ring, maintaining a level topline. A very nice bitch.

2. Kynaston’s Granasil Golden Nugget. 6 year old Ruby dog. Presented in very good condition. Strong masculine head with lovely eyes, correct earset and almost flat skull. A handsome boy who moved really well around the ring with good reach and drive, holding a level topline.

Pugs

J: (4) 1. Unwin’s Aneeva Miss Atomic Bomb. 17 month old bitch. Lovely overall shape and pretty head with good pigment. Dark, round lustrous eyes, well defined wrinkle, small velvet ears, correct teeth. Strong, slightly arched neck leading into well sloped shoulders. Good angulation throughout and moved well with steady movement around the ring.

2. Walker’s Sunlea Memphis Belle. 9 month old bitch. Pretty head with dark, lustrous eyes and black nose. Presented well with a fine, smooth coat. Good angulation and correct tailset. Moved well around the ring. BP

PG: (7,2) 1. Unwin’s Aneeva Mr Brightside. 17 month old dog. I later learned this was the litter brother to the winner of Junior class. Another lovely exhibit with a very pleasing head, correct wrinkle definition, short and cobby body, good spring of rib, good angulation throughout and a level topline which he held on the move.

2. Turnbull’s Eastonite Bewitched by Nicobri. 2 year old bitch. Lovely head with good pigment and dark, round eyes set well apart. Square, cobby body with good spring of rib. Slightly arched neck which she used to carry her head proudly. Good tailset and tight curl. Well angulated and moved well.

O: (7,1) 1. Bobitch Midnight in Georgia JW. 3 year old bitch. I loved the size and temperament of this bitch. She showed her socks off from the minute she stepped in the ring. Pretty head with good pigment, well defined wrinkle and round, dark, lustrous eyes which flashed with excitement as she looked around. She had strong steady movement as she went around the ring with a slight unexaggerated roll. Ideal shape, compact and cobby. Pleased to award her BOB. She then went on to gain a well-deserved Toy Group 2.

2. Sunlea Legend of the Sword for Aneeva JW. 3 year old dog. Another lovely well balanced dog with nice head, good pigment, round, dark eyes and presented in excellent condition. Good tailset, level topline, neat curl. Strong front and rear action on the move.
