Whippets

Thank you to the show committee for asking me to Judge whippets today at a very cold Ardingly Showground. It certainly wasn’t Whippet weather, with the temperature only just popping its head above freezing. This unfortunately led to some rather different toplines and movement than would have been seen on a day a few degrees warmer. Thank you to the exhibitors and their Whippets that braved the cold to make it to the show, however, I do not blame those who chose to stay home in the warm, it really was extremely chilly.

Puppy (4/3abs)

1. Burqa Di Gucci at White Squall (imp ITA). 10 mth brindle white trim bitch. A beautiful puppy, who didn’t seem to let the cold get in her way today. Excellent head with gentle expression and the very best pigmentation. Elegant long neck leading to well placed shoulders. Good length of body. Moved well coming and going without exaggeration, this complimented by excellent profile movement. Her puppy exuberance and willingness to move out in the cold weather, made it easy to award her BPIB and RBOB. Happy to see her go PG1 in the Hound Puppy Group.

Junior (1)

1. Dejare Might Be A Secret. 13mth Brindle bitch. A fantastically sized youngster just out of puppy. Feminine head with correctly set ears, long neck and well constructed front. Smooth underhand and hind angles that mirror the front. Super balance. For me, she was the best moving dog today, however she was rather unsettled in the ring and I’m sure with a bit more practice this will come.

Post Graduate (13/8 abs)

1. Shalfleet New Moon Rising at Silverfrith. 2 year old brindle parti coloured dog. Unfortunately one that was affected by the bitterly cold weather, nevertheless his quality shone through. Quality head with exceptional pigmentation and underjaw. The very best return of upper arm with legs set perfectly under his well laid shoulder. The deepest of briskets. Moved out well in profile, driving from behind.

2. Rockanor Silver Saphire at Jasbri. 6 year old fawn parti colour bitch. Totally different in type to 1. A very sweet girl who is of a fantastic size and type. Gentle expression and classic whippet head. Smooth correctly set shoulders, in fantastic coat and condition. Moved true coming and going and moved out well in profile.

3. Cobyco City Limits

Open (11/4 abs)

1. Kidaruka It’s Showtime at Oxana JW. 18mth dog. A strong young male that stood proud and didn’t let the temperatures hinder his performance in the ring. Masculine, well proportioned head. Well set shoulders and good return of upper arm. Nicely sprung pasterns and neat feet. Lovely length of body with good ribbing. Strong loin and hind quarters that power him on the move. Unexaggerated angulation front and back. He stood out in the challenge for BOB and went on to take the award on his ring presence and easy movement. Very well handled. BOB

2. Jasarat Gucci. 2 year old fawn particoloured dog. Another well-made male with excellent ring presence. Handsome head with kind expression. Long arched neck with well made front and good infill. Excellent return of upper arm and deep brisket. Smooth topline and balanced outline. Moved true and with purpose.

3. Dejare Daydream Believer
