I would like to thank the committee of Burton-on-Trent KA for this judging appointment and the exhibitors for their entries. There were a lot of young puppies and juniors in my entry that I think were suffering from ‘lockdown syndrome’ and were lacking some ring training but it was good to see them out and there were some very promising prospects amongst them.

Australian Cattle Dog

Puppy (2)1

1st. Miss K Jebson’s Nightingale Sings in Florence for Didgerdingo with Austman’s (Imp Ita).

A 7 month old red bitch, excellent type, balanced and in proportion, a little unsettled on the day but a very promising youngster. Head of the correct proportions, ears well set on, skull and muzzle correct and the correct bite. Well laid shoulders, deep chest and ribs carried well back, level topline. Nicely angulated rear quarters and she moved with reach and drive, BP.

1st. Mr. D, Mrs. C & Mr. D L Haynes Yarraman let’s smoke Em Out with Carerra.

A 2 year old blue bitch, typical outline for the breed, substantial throughout, strong head and muzzle, correct ear set, strong neck, well laid shoulders and a level topline, deep chest, I thought she was carrying a little too much weight today. Strong rear quarters and she moved well, RBOB.

1st. Miss K Jebson’s CH old Watchdog Cowboy by Austman’s (Imp Rom).

A quality 2 year old, blue male, masculine and substantial throughout, typical outline, correct head and a strong muzzle, powerful neck, well laid shoulder blades and deep chest, well sprung ribcage carried well back and a strong loin. Powerful rear quarters and he moved freely with drive from behind, BOB.

2nd. Mrs. L Guy’s Jahanghirs Phoenix Kiss.

A 6 year old red male, a little unsettled on the day, head of the correct proportions with a strong muzzle, correct ear set and bite. Strong neck and well laid shoulders, deep chest and a well sprung ribcage, level topline, I just preferred the rear quarters of the first placed dog. He moved around the ring with a lively gait.

1st. Mr. K Jones’s Tanellis Bloomin William.

A 3 ½ year old male, typical outline for the breed, balanced and in proportion, head and muzzle of the correct proportions, strong neck, well laid shoulder blades. level topline, deep chest and a strong loin. Nicely angulated rear quarters, he moved with reach and drive, BOB.

2nd. CH Bowkol Akasha Fire.

A 2 year old bitch, showing typical breed type, head of the correct proportions, dark eyes and the correct bite, deep chest and a level topline, nicely angulated front and rear quarters, I thought she was a little wide in front hence the second place and RBOB.

1st. Mrs. S V & Miss. K V Jarram’s Chalksville’s Azreal at Kashaella (Australian Shepherd).

A 6 month old male and showing excellent breed type, balanced outline and in proportion, head and muzzle of the correct proportions, well set ears and the correct bite, neck of the correct length and well laid back shoulder blades, deep chest and well sprung ribcage. Level topline and nicely angulated rear quarters and correct feet, he moved freely around the ring and was true coming and going, a very promising young dog, Best AVNSC Puppy and 1st in the Pastoral Puppy Group.

2nd. Mrs. S L Ramsden-Caronlea Celtic Fire Starter for Takhisis (AI0) (IKC) (Australian Shepherd).

An 8 month old male and another quality youngster, typical overall shape for the breed, head and muzzle showing strength, dark eyes, correct ear set and the correct bite. Well laid shoulder blades and a deep brisket, ribs well sprung and carried well back, correct length of loin and strong nicely angulated rear quarters, he moved with the correct moderate length of stride, I just preferred the overall strength and soundness of the first placed dog.

3rd. Mr. N & Mrs. A Allan- Allmark Boom Boom.

1st. Dr A J Oliver-Tambuzi Girlz on Fire (Border Collie).

A 16 month old bitch of pleasing proportions, balanced without exaggeration, lovely head and expression, dark eyes, correct muzzle and the correct bite. Strong neck, well laid shoulder blades, well sprung ribcage and ribs carried well back and the correct length of loin. Well turned stifles and she moved very freely being sound and true.

2nd. Mrs. S L Ramsden-Caronlea Celtic Fire Starter for Takhisis (AI) (IKC) (Australian Shepherd).

Critique as for 2nd in Puppy.

1st. Mr. P Asher-Patablanca Phoenix, (Pyrenean Mountain Dog)

A 2 ½ year old bitch, strong and well boned but still feminine throughout, strong head and muzzle, correct bite, neck of the correct length, nicely angulated front and rear quarters, deep chest and ribcage carried well back, coat in good condition and she moved deliberately and soundly.

2nd. Mr. G & Mrs. A Hutchcroft-Allmark One of These Days (Australian Shepherd Dog).

A 10 month old male, I would have preferred more substance throughout, more stop than I would have liked, strong neck, shoulder blades well laid and a deep chest, ribcage carried well back, nicely angulated rear quarters, he moved soundly.

3rd. Ms. A Woodrow-Arrodare In The Zone (Border Collie).

1st. Miss. L J Coleman-Jandade Shooting Star to Hartswelin JW, (Briard).

A 3 year old black bitch, excellent breed type throughout, balanced and in proportion, head and muzzle correct, dark eyes and ears well set on, correct bite and dentition. Strong neck and well angulated shoulder blades and upper arms. Deep chest and a well sprung ribcage, ribs carried well back, strong loin, a gentle slope to her croup and the correct tail set, well angulated rear quarters and strong hocks. She moved soundly with reach and drive in profile, no hesitation in awarding her Best AVNSC and 1st in the Pastoral Group.

2nd. Mr. T & Mrs. A Fieldsend- Qesi heaven Devil at Starwell (Cze Imp) (Briard).

A 4 year old fawn bitch, liked her a lot but I just preferred the overall outline and balance to the first placed bitch, head of the correct proportions, strong muzzle and dark eyes, correct bite. Neck of the correct length, well laid back shoulders and a deep chest, level topline and well angulated rear quarters, she moved soundly with a lively gait.

3rd. Miss. K D Kass- Fostebrie Venchi Star at Kimarlaz JW, (Briard).

1st. Mr. C & Mrs. D Henshaw- Whitehemi’s Alpina (White Swiss Shepherd).

An 8 month old male, a little unsettled on the day and he needs to strengthen throughout, head in proportion to his body, dark eyes and correct ear set, correct bite. Neck of the correct length, well laid shoulder blades, level back, well angulated rear quarters and the correct tail set. Best AV Import Register Puppy.

Junior

1st. Mr. K & Mrs. S Williams- Ballynabola Aztak, (White Swiss Shepherd).

A 10 month old male, masculine throughout with the correct head proportions, dark eyes and the correct bite, Strong neck, well laid shoulders and a deep chest, level topline, well bent stifles and the correct tail set. He moved a little erratically and like many youngsters at this time needs some ring training.

Post Grad

1st. Mr. N & Mrs. A Allan- Rapper Allmark De L’aige De La Tournelle (Imp Fra) (White Swiss Shepherd).

A 21 month old bitch, and a quality example of the breed being balanced and in proportion throughout. Her movement coming and going was true and she showed reach and drive in profile when moving around the ring. Strong head and muzzle but still feminine, dark eyes and well pigmented eye rims and nose. Strong neck, well laid back shoulders, deep brisket and a level back, strong rear quarters with well bent stifles and the correct tail set. A young bitch that can only improve with maturity and I was very pleased to award her Best Import Register Pastoral and second in the Pastoral Group.

2nd. Mr. K & Mrs. S Williams- Diana White Princess Lord of The North at Ballynabola (Imp Hrv) (White Swiss Shepherd).

A 2 year old bitch and I would have preferred more overall size and substance, she is well put together with nicely angulated front and rear quarters a level topline, deep chest and ribcage cage carried well back and the correct length of loin. Feminine head dark eyes and well pigmented eye rims and nose and the correct bite. She moved steadily around the ring with reach and drive.

1st. Mr. D & Miss. R Beeton & Abbott- Belezzalana Arturo (Bergamasco).

A 3 ½ year old male, head and muzzle of the correct proportions, dark eyes, correct bite, strong neck of the correct length, correct lay back of shoulder blade, deep brisket and ribs, ribs well sprung and carried well back, strong loin, well turned stifles, he moved freely with drive. His coat was of the correct texture and matted as it should be.

2nd. Mrs. T L & Mr. C M Pickering-Murray D’ered Luin Avec Picarboo (Imp Fra) (Picardy Sheepdog).

A 5 ½ year old male of rugged appearance and a coat of the correct texture, skull and muzzle of the correct length, dark eyes and the correct bite. Strong neck, well laid shoulders, deep chest, ribs well sprung, level topline, nicely angulated rear quarters and he moved soundly and effortlessly around the ring.

AV Pastoral Veteran (11)8

1st. Mrs. D Moore- Shetlo Love and Laughter (Shetland Sheepdog).

A 10 year old bitch showing excellent breed type, a graceful and feminine outline, head refined and elegant as it should be, dark eyes and correct ears, scissor bite. She was in excellent coat, and she was presented very well, deep chest, well sprung ribcage, level back and well bent stifles and low set hocks, she soundly around the ring, Best AV Pastoral Veteran.

2nd. Mr. D & Mrs. K A Kinton- Kinaway Memories JW (Border Collie).

A 9 year old bitch, showing excellent type, with a balanced outline, strong head and muzzle, dark eyes and the correct bite. Neck of the correct length, well laid shoulder blades, deep chest, well sprung ribcage, back strong and muscular, well bent stifles and low set hocks. Coat in good condition and well presented.

3rd. Mrs. S L Wray-Ramsden- Beldones Duchess of Dreams JW (Rough Collie).

Bassett Hound

1st. Mrs. S B & Mr K R Jones- Clanwillow the Emerald King.

A 6 month old male and he impressed me with his overall breed type and balance, well put together, typical head, well set ears, neck of the correct length, scissor bite, well laid back shoulder blades, deep brisket, topline correct, nicely angulated rear quarters, low hocks and correct feet, he moved steadily around the ring being sound coming and going, a promising youngster, BOB and Best Puppy.

1st. Mrs. S B Jones- Reckless Raven V. Grunsven (ATCAY37505 NLD).

A 7 month old tri-colour male, another lovely youngster, substantial throughout and a balanced outline, head and muzzle correct and a scissor bite, ears well set, strong neck, well laid shoulder blades, correct fore chest for his age, deep chest and ribcage carried well back, nicely angulated rear quarters and he moved with purposefully around the ring showing reach in front and drive from behind.

1st. Mrs. S B & Mr K R Jones- Clanwillow Diamond Miracle.

A 17 month old male, showing substance throughout, domed skull, and a strong muzzle, correct bite, strong and powerful neck, well laid shoulder blades, correct fore chest, deep brisket and a well sprung ribcage, ribs carried well back and a strong loin. Well bent stifles and low set hocks, he moved with drive and purpose.

1st. Mrs. H M Hards- Mellow Molly V Grunsven at Braemoray (Imp Nld).

A 2 year old L/W bitch, I really liked this bitch, she is substantial but feminine throughout, head of the correct proportions and I preferred her strength of muzzle over the 2nd in this class, eyes, ears and bite all correct, strong neck, well laid shoulder, deep brisket and correct topline, strong loin, well bent stifles and low set hocks, she moved very freely and effortlessly around the ring and only just lost out for best of breed to a very promising puppy, very pleased to award her RBOB.

2nd. Mrs. S B & Mr K R Jones- Clanwillow Centenary Hope.

A 2 year old bitch showing overall breed type, balanced outline, I would have preferred a broader muzzle, ears, eyes and bite correct, well laid shoulders and upper arms, topline correct, deep chest, well sprung ribs and a strong loin, strong rear quarters and low set hocks. Her movement was sound and true showing reach and drive.

Ibizan Hound

1st. Miss. J l Taylor- CH Abbotsoak Carousel JW.

At almost 4 year old a quality bitch, she has the fine long skull that is asked for in the standard, large erect ears and the correct bite, elegant outline with the right amount of angulation in the front and rear quarters. Brisket of the correct depth for the breed and a flat ribcage, a level back and strong rear quarters with the right amount of bend to her stifle, correct feet. She moved well with a long reaching stride and was true coming and going, BOB.

2nd. Miss. V Woodcock- Abbotsoak Any Dream Will Do.

A male and the litter brother to the class winner, very similar in type but I just preferred the overall presence and carriage of his sister, head, ears and eyes all correct and the required scissor bite, long lean neck and correct shoulder placement, brisket of the correct depth and ribcage carried well back giving the correct short coupling required. Nicely bent stifles and he moved around the ring with a lively far reaching gait, RBOB.

3rd. Miss. V Woodcock- Abbotsoak Matilda.

1st. Miss. D Kilgar- Ardneish Pacific at Maelstrom.

A 5 year old bitch, she has a lovely head and gentle expression, dark eyes and the correct ear set, strong neck, well laid shoulder blades, deep chest, I would have preferred more arch to her loin, well bent stifles and the correct feet, her movement was easy and active with reach and drive, RBOB.

1st. Miss. D Kilgar- Claonaiglen Strontian Maelstrom.

A 2 ½ year old bitch, she is strong and substantial throughout but retains her femininity, lovely head and expression, long strong neck, well laid shoulders, deep brisket, correct length of loin, broad hind quarters, well bent stifles, she moved around the ring with reach and drive from her hind quarters, pleased to award her BOB.

2nd. Miss. D F & Mrs P M Nichols & Baker-Kensteen Laird of Islay at Ballygrand TAF.

A 4 year old male, showing the correct breed type, balanced and in proportion, masculine head of the correct proportions, dark eyes and the correct ear set, powerful neck, well laid shoulders, deep brisket, ribs carried well back and a strong loin, coat of the correct texture, well bent stifles and the correct feet, his movement was sound, but I would have preferred more reach in front when moving around the ring.
