Woolwich Bexley & District Canine Association

Woolwich, Bexley & District C.A. Open Show 5th December 2021.

My thanks to the Society for the invitation to judge. I was delighted to judge some quality dogs and my thanks to exhibitors for your entries and for turning out on such a miserable day.

Irish Wolfhounds

Post Graduate (3)

1st. Heathers’ Whiteorchard Ad Astra. A lovely feminine 14 month old brindle girl with lots of potential. Built on flowing lines, she possessed a very good head with furnishings and dark expressive eyes. Strong neck into good shoulders, well bodied with good tuck up. Powerful and so sound on the move with correct tail carriage. She does have a bursa on her left leg but this certainly doesn’t detract. A quality youngster who must surely have a bright future. Best of Breed and Group 2.

2nd. Heathers’ Whiteorchard Aurora. Litter sister to winner and similar remarks apply. Pretty feminine head but lacking in pigmentation. Good neck and shoulder placement. Well muscled hindquarters and moves well coming and going. Another very nice youngster.

3rd. Campbell-Woodfords Whiteorchard Adhara at Kilmacduagh.

A.V.N.S.C. Hound

Puppy (8,3)

1st. Millers’ Alkira Rooibos Valentine. 8 month old Beagle. Such a promising pup. Excellent head properties with dark eyes, strong neck into well laid shoulders. Plenty of substance. Good topline and well muscled quarters. Plenty of drive on the move. In tip top condition.

2nd. Boggias’ red/white greyhound with lots of promise. Lovely head with long neck into well placed shoulders. Good body and condition, very well muscled. Moved well and soundly, just slightly unsettled here today.

3rd. Bates, Diheath Jar Jar Binks at Karames, Basset Hound.

Post Grad (17,10)

1st. Hills & Thorntons’ Absolute Afghans Djibouti at Karnak (Imp Nor) TAF. 14 month old black masked gold Afghan male. Balanced head and good eye. Excellent depth to chest and good topline. So sound on the move, he has personality plus, correct ring tail. Well presented coat which was in grand condition. Lots to like about this youngster. Best AVNSC Hound.

2nd. Nicholls’ Shyllar Turning Heads. A very nice almost 2 year old female Basenji. Very

 good head proportions with dark well set expressive eyes. Good neck into well laid shoulders. Balanced body with level back. She has a correctly tightly curled tail. Well muscled hindquarters enabling her to move well and soundly. In super condition.

3rd. Bates’ Diheath Pyjama at Karames. Basset Hound.

Open (11.6)

1st Boggias’ Boughton Boomerang. Loved this young greyhound male of almost a year old. Built on strong flowing lines. Very good head, long neck into well placed shoulders. Excellent body with good chest and well sprung ribs. Well muscled and in super condition. Moved effortlessly and soundly with plenty of drive. One who must have a bright future. Res Best AVNSC Hound and Best Puppy AVNSC Hound and Puppy Hound Group 1.

2nd. Wests Archidax Dark Phoenix. Mini wirehaired Dachshund of super type. Pretty feminine head with dark pigment, well placed shoulders and tight elbows. Good topline and rear angulation. Correct harsh coat. Moved so soundly.

3rd. Chapman-Reiths’ Wanderhund Lets celebrate for Hayvenhund JW Smooth haired Dachshund.

A.V. Hound

Puppy (8,3)

1st Taylors’ Trageeda Amara. 11 months old black/tan mini smoothhaired Dachshund of good breed type. Pretty head with correct almond shaped dark eye. Muscular neck and correct forequarters. Short and strong in loin. Sound straight rear action. Gives it her all on the move. In good condition. Very promising. Best Puppy A.V. Hound, Res Best A.V. Hound.

2nd. Overingtons’ Delandmar Jimi Hendrix. Mini smooth black/tan Dachshund of 8 months. Another nice puppy just preferred head and eye of my winner. Good body proportions. In super condition. Just not as collected on the move today.

3rd. McCarthys’ Nagshall The Odd Reason. Mini long haired Dachshund.

Post Graduate (12,4)

1st Heathers’ Whiteorchard Aurora. Irish Wolfhound.

2nd. McCarthys’ Nagshall Santa Rosa. Mini longhaired Dachshund. Such a pretty feminine girl of good overall type. Attractive head and dark expressive eyes. Good shoulder placement and well angulated quarters. Moved very soundly covering the ground well.

3rd. Woodcrofts and Yacoby-Wrights’ Whippet Cobyco City Limits.

Open (14,7)

1st Woodcrofts’ Cobyco Cover Queen. W/brindle whippet. Pretty feminine head with dark eye. Very good front and rear angulation. Strong in loin and in super condition. Moves very soundly. Best A.V.Hound.

2nd. McCarthy’s Nagshall Santa Paolo. Mini Longhaired Dachshund. Just loved his masculine head with soft gentle dark almond eyes. Good length of neck into a well placed shoulder. In good coat and moved with plenty of drive. Another lovely dog from this exhibitor.

3rd. Taylors Our Chocolate Chip. Mini smooth Dachshund.

HOUND GROUP.

Group 1. Boggias’ Falconcrag One For The Team at Boughton. A super 2 year old fawn female with a very good head and dark eye giving a soft gentle expression. Long arch neck into good shoulders. A nice rise over the loin and excellent rear angulation completed the picture. In great condition and moves so well and soundly. Pleased to award her Group 1.

Group 2. Heathers’ Whiteorchard Ad Astra. Irish Wolfhound. Notes as before but very close up here and I’m sure with maturity will be troubling the best.

Group 3. Bullis’ Amaffrey Truly Scumptious Mini Smooth Dachshund. A quality red girl of lovely breed type.

Group 4. Hills’ Absolute Afghan’s Djibouti at Karnak (Imp Nor) TAF. Afghan.

PUPPY HOUND GROUP

Group 1. Boggias’ Boughton Boomerang. Greyhound. Notes as before. Won this on his super type. Not really enough ring room for him here but certainly did enough to warrant this placing. A very promising young man.

Group 2. Pearmain’s Delandmar Hattie McDaniel. 8 months old black/tan Mini Smoothhaired Dachshund. My notes say ‘a little cracker’. Of excellent breed type. Very good head and dark almond shaped eye. Correct forequarters, strong neck into well placed shoulders and level topline which she keeps on the move. So very sound and definitely has that ‘look at me’ factor. A very promising puppy.

Group 3. Kruger and Howletts Busqa Di Gucci at White Squall (Imp It) NAF TAF Whippet. Very nice whippet who moved well and soundly here.

Group 4. McCarthys Nagshall Mystic Oddysey Mini Longhaired Dachs. Lovely Mini Longhaired Dachshund of good breed type and moved well.

Junior Stakes (25,11) Some very promising youngsters here.

1st. Heathers’ Whiteorchard Ad Astra. Irish Wolfhound. Notes as before.

2nd. Cassidys’ Manchela Speechless at Cassoz. 14 month old Light Blue Roan Cocker Spaniel. Possesses a lovely head and kind dark eye giving the desired gentle expression for the breed. This young man has very good front angulation, a strong neck into correct shoulder placement, sturdy body, short in loin and well muscled hindquarters. His coat was well presented and in great condition. He moved soundly and merrily around the ring holding his topline.

3rd. Pops Claramand Cosmopolitan. Cocker Spaniel.  Quality Blue roan boy.
