Southampton & District Canine Association

Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at this wonderful show. It was great to be back at a dog show after over a year of lockdown. The rings were splendid, the competitors were good natured and very sporting and the hounds were immaculately turned out. There was a lively warm atmosphere around the rings and the weather was very kind to us! Thank you also to my most helpful steward Barry Bull who kept the ring ticking over smoothly and to everyone who entered their wonderful hounds.

1st Howlett & Holden Skyswift New Moon 5 year old red parti bitch, upstanding and of generous portions. Pleasing head with neat rosed ears, chiselled jaws and correct dentition. Elegantly arched neck flowing into correctly well placed shoulders. Good depth and spring of rib, with broad muscling from withers to tail. Nicely angulated hindquarters with low set hocks and compact arched feet. Curves in all the right places, both underline and top line. Standing she presented a beautiful silhouette. Moved with a free and easy gait. BOB and HG4

2nd Howlett Mrs M &Miss R Skyswift Moonlight Serenade 5 year old white male. Litter mate to 1st. Masculine head of correct proportions. Strong arched neck leading to decent shoulders. Forelegs long and straight with well knuckled feet. Deep chest and a powerful, broad muscled loin. Good width to thighs with excellent muscle tone and correct rear angulation. Top line falls away slightly over the croup but he holds it on the move. Shown in super condition.

1st Chippendale Ms O. Imhotep Rears Natural Jasmine (Imp BEL) 2 year old cream male. Long head with dark eye. Beautiful fringed ears. Long well muscled neck into correctly laid shoulders. Fair dept of brisket and good cut up. Moderate rear with wide second thigh and good muscle tone. Correct feet, toes long and well arched. Moved smoothly around the ring. BOB

1st Williams Mrs K. Tigsisle Totally Unique 4 year old cream bitch. Another bitch of super type. Lovely head and expression, correct dentition. Fair neck into well placed shoulders. Depth and length to brisket and a broad, strong loin. Moderately rear quarters with toned second thigh, low set hocks and beautifully feathered feet. Moved with a light and easy action. Lost out by the finest of margins.

1st Campbell- Woodford Mr K & AE Whiteorchard Amhara at Kilmacduagh 8 month wheaten bitch. Balanced, super bone and substantial throughout. Lovely furnished head which she held high on the move. Eyes dark but would prepare a darker pigmentation. Ears beautifully rosed and carried well. Strong neck flowing into fair shoulders, chest deep for one so young. Back nicely ribbed but tad long in the loin. Fair quarters and low hocks. Still with her puppy coat. Moved soundly and has a pleasing gait. BP & BSY.

1st Cramphorn Mrs R Yelxba Bonnie 2 year old dark brindle bitch. Head of equal plains, dark eye and correct dentition. Strong neck which leads into well placed shoulders, upper arm of desired length and elbows set well under. Deep chest and loin of correct length. Angulated rear quarters with length to second thigh and low set hocks. Carrying too much weight which spoiled her outline. BOB.

2nd Campbell-Woodford, Mr K & Mrs AE Kilmacduagh Aednat 4 year old brindle bitch. Dark eye and pigmentation, ears well held and rosed correctly. Strong neck and correct shoulder placement. Legs straight but pasterns slightly weak, feet correctly arched. Fair depth of chest and a muscular loin. Adequate rear angulation and low hocks. Coat rough and harsh.

1st Allen Mrs A Zoraden Aladdin 11 month old well made red fawn and white trim boy. A Very promising puppy. Correctly proportioned head with lovely expression and neat rosed ears. Long muscular neck flowing into well placed shoulders. Good depth of chest and spring of rib with a lovely sweeping underline. Beautifully angulated rear with width to second thigh, low set hocks. In excellent coat and condition. Moved with a long and easy stride when he got into his swing. BP and PG 4.

2nd Severn Ms Nattah Natures Dream Just 6 months old parti boy. Quite mature in body for his age. Masculine head with slight stop and sweet expression. Long reach of neck with lovely angulated front, good dept of brisket and front infil. Well bodied and muscled for one so young. Strong hindquarters which helped him to move soundly around the ring. Well handled.

Special Yearling 9 (2)

1st Shepherd Miss SJ Kidaruka It’s Showtime at Oxana. 13 month fawn with white trim boy. Caught my eye when he entered the ring. He has a lovely head, neat rosed ears and strong under jaw with correct dentition. Elegantly arched neck that just flows into well placed shoulders. Broad firmly muscled back with a graceful arch over a strong loin, powerful croup with a good tail set . Strong rear quarters, low hocks and lovely, well arched oval feet. His front and rear angles are so balanced without exaggeration. Moved with a long easy stride, light footed and powerful covering the ground with ease. Held his top line on the move. BOB & BSY.

2nd Samson Miss L Romaclove the Power of Love. 22 month stunning blue bitch shown in excellent condition and a gleaming coat. The loveliest of expressions with a head of correct proportions. Long elegantly arched neck that flows into a super front assembly. Forearms straight with bladed bone and correct tight feet. Nice spring of rib and sweeping underline. Rear quarters well muscled. Looking good in profile and on the move.

1st Saxby Miss KD Runaround Amazin’ Grace with Sandspring. A very shapely 2 year old fawn bitch shown in super condition. Lovely head with a sweet expression and oval eye. Good length of neck and front assembly; shoulders well laid with flat muscles and correct return of upper arm. Back nicely ribbed and a sweeping underline that compliments her curvy top line. Strong firmly muscled rear quarters, good length to second thighs and low set hocks. Moved true coming and going. Pushed hard for BOB.

2nd Allen Mrs A Lolani Mocha Martini at Zoraden 16 month old red fawn bitch. Another presented in super body condition and muscle tone. Long arched neck leading into a strong top line. Good depth and length of body with a curvy underline. Lovely angulated rear with a balance length between first and second thigh. Positive on the move.

1st Baluch Mrs C Erinnis Mignonette 4 ½ year old fawn bitch. Lovely long neck that flows into a super top line. Straight forelegs and neat feet. Good underline with the correct tuck up. Nicely angulated hindquarters with tidy hocks which she used to drive around the ring. Stands over a lot of ground.

2nd Samson Miss L Zoraden Suprise Edition at Romaclove 4 year old fawn and white boy. Masculine head with lovely well held rosed ears. Strong neck that flows into correctly placed shoulders, super front with a deep chest, good infil and lovely sweeping underline. Well developed hind quarters with a lovely bend of stifle. Sound movement and pleasing side gait.

1st Leathart Mrs V Ringmore Hecate Elegantly balanced 2 year old fawn bitch presented in excellent condition. Pretty head of correct plains, strong under jaw and super rosed ears. Gracefully arched neck leading into a lovely shoulder placement. Good depth of chest, well filled in front and a lovely ribbed back completes the picture. Correct top and underline and width throughout which is evident in her sound, free, effortless movement.

2nd Jones Mrs V Burnt Sienna Patiently for Chelynnah (Imp Swe) 4 year old pale fawn bitch. Good length of neck into smooth shoulders. Elbows set well under and good spring of pasterns. Definite tuck up and strong muscular loin. Beautifully proportioned and balanced throughout. Moved true coming and going.
