Thanks to Hilary and the committee for the last minute invitation to judge, and to the exhibitors for accepting me as a replacement. Well done to the exhibitors for braving the very cold temperature!

AVNSC TOY

Puppy (6,4) 1 Fitzgerald’s Cubadias I’m So Stunning. 6 months Havanese attending his first show. Sturdy lad with correct body proportions. Pleasing head with large dark eyes, giving a good expression, and correctly set ears. Level topline with the required slight rise over the loin. Correct feet. Tail carried well. In good coat for age. Moved round the ring with a spring in his step. BAVNSC Toy, BPAVNSC Toy & Puppy Group 2. 2 Murray’s Eithlynn Life Goes On. 7 months Bichon, certainly a happy little dog. Feminine head with large dark eyes, correct body proportions, tight feet. Moves out well, just needs time to gain confidence with her surroundings.

Open (4,3) 1 Hawkins’ Mamose Lets Get Fizzical 2 years Bichon of a lovely size who impressed on the stack. Very pretty head with an appealing expression. Good neck into correct shoulders.Tail carried well. Moved OK. Just felt she could be stronger on the rear.

AV Toy Veteran. (11,5)A lovely class. 1st Davidson-Postons CH/IR/NL/INT CH Spinillons Rebel Rowser JW ShCM CW VW, ShCEX,, 11 year old b/w Papillion who defies his age. Not trying to be cliché but… “what can I say what hasn’t already been said before?” He is no stranger to me having already awarded him BOB in his youth. Instantly eye catching and so well schooled and presented. Classic head with large, well fringed ears, such endearing well rounded dark eyes, good neck into well developed shoulders, lovely length to body with correct topline. Correct feet. Long, well fringed tail set well and carried correctly. Such a positive, free mover and it was a joy to watch him. He is a star. Delighted to see he went Best Veteran in Show. 2nd Davidson-Poston’s INT/NL/IR CH Spinillons Classic Caress JW ShCM CW14 IRJR CH PPVN15 9 Years B/W.. daughter of Rebel Rowser and many of the same comments apply. Such a pretty girl. Moved out freely. 3rd White’s Gabrielle Irisa.

Junior 1st No Name Given, 13 months of good breed type, fairly small head, nicely domed forehead. Pleasing expression, nicely rounded dark eyes, small high set ears. Short in body. Small feet. Tail could be carried better. Moved OK. 2 Elcome’s Scapafield Schwarz Robyn. 7 months raw bitch. All in proportion. Pleasing head with good qualities into good body. Moved OK, just needs to get herself together and I’m sure she will do well. BP

Post Graduate (3,1) 1 Faithfull’s Jonevelyn Alisa Bay JW. What a sweetie this 3 years bitch is. Super girl of an ideal size and in correct coat.. Lovely head piece with the correct domed forehead and broad brow and with dark sparkling eyes giving a very cheeky expression. Small ears which she uses well. Decent neck into a short body. Front legs are straight and elbows are well in. Lovely compact feet. Tail is well set and carried high on the move. Moved out round the ring with purpose. 2 Gill’s Florindale Wicked Wilma, another lovely bitch of a good size. I liked her head which had the typical qualities. Nice and short in body. Small compact feet. Tail carried well. Moved well in profile but was just a touch close behind than 1.

Open (3) Nice class. 1 Faithfull & Le Clercq’s Jonevelyn Bowmore Darkest. This dog impressed as soon as he walked into the ring. Not only a monkey in appearance but a monkey in attitude too! So much breed type. In good coat. Loved his classic head with broad brow and prominent turned up chin, lovely dark sparkling eyes, ears set on high. Good for neck. Short in back, well sprung ribs, good tuck up giving that sturdy appearance. Lovely tight feet. Tail set high and carried well. He was rather distracted by the sand today and made his handler work for it but he moves with that typical strutting movement with good lift. He was a pleasure to judge and I will follow him with interest. I was told later in the day he is now a Champion. BOB & Group 2 in what was a lovely group. 2 Gill’s Florindale William Waffle 2 years male who is slightly smaller than 1 but another of lovely breed type. Decent head giving a lovely cheeky expression. Good turn up of chin, Sturdy in body with a nice topline. Moved out soundly. RBOB.

GRIFFON BRUXELLOIS

Junior 1 Swinge’s Balthazar Pillow Talk 7 months red rough, she has a good head which is well rounded. Dark round eyes of a good size giving an alert expression. Could be a touch shorter in body. Nice small feet. Moved ok when settled, just needs time to mature up. BP & PG4

Open (4,3) 1 Swinge’s Balthazar Supersonic, 13 months red rough, a smart young dog who presents a nice outline on the stand. Lovely head with expressive eyes, deep in chest, good for body with strong topline. Well muscled.Moved out well. BOB

PAPILLON

Puppy (2) 1st Miller, Ryan & Barnett’s Feorlig Silly Billy, 8 months Dark Red Sable & White who impressed me a lot, he was on his toes and very alert. In great coat. So well balanced, everything in proportion. Loved his head, finely pointed muzzle with a well defined stop. Dark, expressive eyes. Large enough ears which he uses at all times. Good length to body with well developed hind quarters. Correct feet. Looks a picture on the move, covering the ground well. BP, RBOB, Puppy Group 1. 2 Welsh’s Finty Moonbright, tri, 13 months who had a decent head with good ear carriage, good for body. Moved OK.

Junior (3,1)

1 Turner’s Feyetas Mighty Atom, 12 months R/SW who presents a lovely outline. In very good coat & condition. Pleasing head with good muzzle, large ears which he uses well. Nice neck into good body, correct tailset and carriage. Fine feet. Well developed hindquarters. A very positive mover who I’m sure will do well in the future. 2 Last’s Lilacrose Magic Mya, sable, good for size, head was OK, although head was too heavily marked for me. Large ears, dark eyes. Good length to body. Pasterns could be stronger. Moved OK.

Post Graduate (5,3) Two different types here.

1 Welsh’s Kazim Rhyme and Reason, 5 years tri of a good size. Lovely head with correct fine muzzle and expression. Large ears which he uses well. Good for body, tailset carried well. Moved soundly. 2 Woodcock’s Soleana Butterfly Kisses, RS/W taller than 1. Head OK, large ears used well. Good for body. Tail carried well. Could have moved better today.

Davidson-Poston’s Spinillon’s Rebelling, 2 years bitch in good coat, Very nice to go over. She has a very pretty head giving a pleasing expression. Correct muzzle, large ears which she uses well. Good neck into well developed shoulders. Lovely length to body. Correct tailset. Well developed hindquarters. Nice feet. Long tail, set on well and used at all times. A light, free mover. This exhibitor is to be commended on the presentation of all her dogs, so well turned out. BOB, G4.

2 Lockhart & Farrells Chertruda Dark Secret, B/W in very good coat and condition. Pleasing head with large, well fringed ears. Good for body. Fine feet. Long tail which is set on high. Moved out positively.

TOY GROUP – A lovely group and I was very happy with my final 4.

1. Eddery’s Pug, CH Surprise Gift Ragemma, what a star this bitch of 2 years is. She presents a gorgeous picture both on the stand and on the move. She is of ideal size. Loved her head piece which is in proportion to her body. Jet black mask. Dark, lustrous eyes that give a soft expression. Small, well set ears. Lovely neck into a short and cobby body. Level topline which she keeps at all times. Really comes alive on the move, moving every so soundly with perfect footfall and really powerful on the rear. Handled to advantage by her talented young handler. Delighted to hear she went Reserve Best In Show at the end of a very cold day.

2. Affenpinscher, Jonevelyn Bowmore Darkest.

3. Pom, Sharhazlah’s Suave Devil, Pom of the highest quality in lovely coat and condition, he presents a lovely outline on the stand and is lovely to go over, he has typical foxy expression, with small ears carried well. Short in body. Lovely compact feet. Tail set on high. Moved so soundly round the ring.
